1 ¶ For, behold, the day comes that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of the hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
“See, the day is coming. It is burning like a hot fire. And all those who are proud and those who do wrong will be like dry grass. The day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord of All. “Not a root or branch will be left to them.
2 B ut unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness be born, and in his wings he shall bring saving health; and ye shall go forth and jump like calves of the herd.
But for you who fear My name, the sun of what is right and good will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and dance like calves from the cattle-house.
3 A nd ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, said the LORD of the hosts.
You will crush the sinful under foot. They will be ashes under your feet on the day when I do these things,” says the Lord of All.
4 ¶ Remember ye the law of Moses my slave, which I commanded unto him in Horeb statutes and my rights over all Israel.
“Remember the Law of My servant Moses. Remember all the Laws I gave him in Horeb for all Israel.
5 B ehold, I send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD:
See, I will send you Elijah the man of God before the day of the Lord comes, that great day that will be full of much trouble.
6 a nd he shall convert the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to the fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with destruction.
And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Or else I will come and destroy the land with a curse.”
