1 G ive ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

يا راعِيَ إسْرائِيلَ، يا مَنْ تَقُودُ شَعبَ يُوسُفَ كَالخِرافِ، اسْمَعْنِي! اظهَرْ يا مَنْ تَجلِسُ عَلَى مَلائِكَةِ الكارُوبِيْمِ.

2 B efore Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.

أَيْقِظْ قُوَّتَكَ أمامَ شَعبِكَ أفْرايِمَ وَبَنْيامِيْنَ وَمَنَسَّى، وَاخرُجْ أمامَنا وَخَلِّصْنا وَانْصُرْنا.

3 T urn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

استَجِبْ لَنا يا اللهُ، وَاعطِفْ عَلَينا، وَأنقِذنا.

4 O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

أيُّها الإلَهُ القَدِيرُ، حَتَّى مَتَى سَتَظَلُّ غاضِباً، فَلا تَستَمِعُ إلَى صَلَواتِ شَعبِكَ؟

5 T hou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.

أطعَمتَهُمْ خُبزَ الدُّمُوعِ، وَجَعَلتَهُمْ يَشرَبُونَ دُمُوعاً كَثِيرَةً.

6 T hou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

جَعَلْتَنا نَبدُو كَثِيرِي الخِصامِ أمامَ جِيرانِنا، وَأعداؤُنا يَسْخَرُونَ بِنا.

7 T urn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

استَجِبْ لَنا أيُّها الإلَهُ القَدِيرُ، اعْطِفْ عَلَينا فَنَخلُصَ.

8 T hou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

أخرَجتَ الكَرمَةَ مِنْ مِصرَ. اقْتَلَعْتَ الغُرَباءَ وَزَرَعْتَها.

9 T hou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.

نَزَعْتَ الأعشابَ الضّارَّةَ مِنْ أجلِها، أطلَقْتَ جُذُورَها فَمَلأتِ الكَرمَةُ الأرْضَ.

10 T he hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

غَطَّتِ الجِبالَ، أوراقُها ظَلَّلَتْ حَتَّى أرْزَ اللهِ فِي لُبنانَ

11 S he sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.

مَدَّتِ الكَرمَةُ غُصُونَها إلَى البَحرِ غَرباً، وَإلَى نَهرِ الفُراتِ شَرقاً.

12 W hy hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?

فَلِماذا هَدَمْتَ سُورَ الحِمايَةِ حَولَ الكَرمِ، لِيَلْتَقِطَ مِنْهُ كُلُّ مَنْ يَمُرُّ بِهِ؟

13 T he boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.

الخَنازِيرُ البَرِّيَةُ تَدُوسُهُ، وَالوُحُوشُ الكاسِرَةُ تَلتَهِمُهُ.

14 R eturn, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

أيُّها الإلَهُ القَدِيرُ، عُدْ! تَطَلَّعْ مِنَ السَّماءِ وَانظُرْ ما حَلَّ بِكَرْمِكَ. تَعالَ وَارْعَ تِلْكَ الكَرْمَةَ!

15 a nd the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

انظُرْ إلَى ما زَرَعْتَهُ بِيَمِينِكَ، وَإلَى الزَّرْعِ الغَضِّ الَّذِي أقَمْتَهُ.

16 I t is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

كَالقُمامَةِ احتَرَقَتِ الكَرمَةُ. هَلَكَ الشَّعبُ حِينَ انتَهَرْتَهُمْ.

17 L et thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

مُدَّ يَدَكَ إلَى مَنْ أحْبَبْتَهُ، إلَى الإنْسانِ الَّذِي شَدَّدْتَهُ لَكَ.

18 S o will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

عِندَئِذٍ لَنْ نَرتَدَّ عَنكَ سَتُحيِينا فَنَدْعُوَ باسْمِكَ وَنَعْبُدُكَ.

19 T urn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

أيُّها الإلَهُ القَدِيرُ، أعِدْنا إلَيْكَ. اعْطِفْ عَلَينا فَنَخلُصَ.
