1 P eter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

مِنْ بُطرُسَ، رَسُولِ يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ، إلَى شَعبِ اللهِ المُتَغَرِّبينَ فِي هَذا العالَمِ، وَالمُشَتَّتِينَ عَبْرَ مُقاطَعاتِ بُنطُسَ وَغَلاطِيَّةَ وَكَبْدُوكِيَّةَ وَأسِيّا وَبِيثِينِيَّةَ، المُختارينَ

2 e lect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

حَسَبَ عِلْمِ اللهِ الآبِ المُسبَقِ، لِتَكُونُوا مُقَدَّسينَ فِي الرُّوحِ، وَلِكَي تُطِيعُوهُ وَتَتَطَهَّرُوا بِرَشِّ دَمِ يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ. أُصَلِّي أنْ تَتَزايَدَ لَكُمْ نِعمَةُ اللهِ وَسَلامُهُ عَلَى الدَّوامِ. رَجاءٌ حَيّ

3 B lessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

تَبارَكَ إلَهُ رَبِّنا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ وَأبُوهُ. فَفِي رَحمَتِهِ العَظِيمَةِ وَلَدَنا ثانِيَةً، لِيَكُونَ لَنا رَجاءٌ حَيٌّ بِسَبَبِ قِيامَةِ يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ مِنَ المَوتِ،

4 t o an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

وَمِيراثٌ لا يَفنَى وَلا يَتَلَوَّثُ وَلا يَذبُلُ، مَحفُوظٌ فِي السَّماواتِ لَكُمْ

5 w ho are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

أنتُمُ المَحمِيِّينَ بِقُوَّةِ اللهِ بِسَبَبِ إيمانِكُمْ، إلَى أنْ تَنالوا الخَلاصَ المُعَدَّ لَكُمْ، وَالَّذِي سَيُعلَنُ فِي نِهايَةِ الزَّمانِ.

6 W herein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

وَلِهَذا أنتُمْ تَفِيضُونَ فَرَحاً، مَعَ أنَّهُ مِنَ الضَّرُورِيِّ أنْ تُحزَنُوا الآنَ لِفَتْرَةٍ قَصِيرَةٍ بامتِحاناتٍ مُختَلِفَةٍ،

7 t hat the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

تُبَرهِنُ أصالَةَ إيمانَكُمْ. فَحَتَّى الذَّهَبُ الفانِي يُمتَحَنُ بِالنّارِ. وَإيمانُكُمْ أثمَنُ مِنْهُ كَثِيراً. لِهَذا يَنبَغي أنْ يُمتَحَنَ لِيَكونَ مُستَحِقّاً لِلمَدِيحِ وَالتَّمِجِيدِ وَالتَّكرِيمِ، عِندَما يُعلَنُ يَسُوعُ المَسِيحُ

8 w hom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

الَّذي لا تَرَونَهُ، إلّا أنَّكُمْ تُحِبُّونَهُ. وَمَعَ أنَّكُمْ لا تَرَونَهُ الآنَ، إلّا أنَّكُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ، فَتَمتَلِئُونَ فَرَحاً مَجِيداً لا يُوصَفُ،

9 r eceiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

وَتَنالُونَ هَدَفَ إيمانِكُمُ الَّذِي هُوَ خَلاصُكُمْ.

10 O f which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

لَقَدْ تَحَدَّثَ الأنبِياءُ سابِقاً عَنْ هَذِهِ النِّعْمَةِ الَّتي هِيَ لَكُمُ الآنَ، وَفَتَّشُوا باهتِمامٍ عَنْ هَذا الخَلاصِ.

11 s earching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

كانَتْ غايَتُهُمْ أنْ يَعرِفُوا الوَقْتَ وَالظُّرُوفَ الَّتِي كانَ يَدُلُّهُمْ عَلَيها رُوحُ المَسِيحِ الَّذي فيهِمْ، إذْ أعلَنَ لَهُمُ الرُّوحُ القُدُسُ مُسبَقاً آلامَ المَسِيحِ وَالأمجادَ الَّتِي سَتَلِيها.

12 U nto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

وَقَدْ كَشَفَ لَهُمُ اللهُ أنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَكُونُوا يَخدِمُونَ أنفُسَهُمْ، بَلْ يَخدِمُونَكُمْ أنتُمْ عِندَما تَحَدَّثُوا عَنْ هَذِهِ الأُمُورِ الَّتِي أُعلِنَتْ لَكُمُ الآنَ، بِواسِطَةِ الَّذِينَ بَشَّرُوكُمْ بِقُوَّةِ الرُّوحِ القُدُسِ المُرسَلِ مِنَ السَّماءِ. وَهِيَ أُمُورٌ تَشتَهِي حَتَّى المَلائِكَةُ أنْ تَعرِفَها! كونوا مُقَدَّسين

13 W herefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

فَكُونُوا مُتَيَقِّظِي الذِّهنِ وَمُنضَبِطِي النَّفْسِ. وَليَكُنْ رَجاؤكُمْ كُلُّهُ فِي نِعمَةِ اللهِ الَّتِي سَتُعطَى لَكُمْ عِندَما يُعلَنُ يَسُوعُ المَسِيحُ.

14 a s obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

وَكَأبناءٍ مُطِيعِينَ، كُفُّوا عَنْ تَشكِيلِ حَياتِكُمْ بِحَسَبِ رَغَباتِكُمُ الشَّرِّيرَةِ الماضِيَةِ، حينَما كُنتُمْ جُهَلاءَ.

15 b ut as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

بَلْ كُونُوا مُقَدَّسِينَ فِي كُلِّ سُلوكٍ، كَما أنَّ اللهَ الَّذِي دَعاكُمْ هُوَ قُدُّوسٌ.

16 b ecause it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

فَإنَّهُ مَكتُوبٌ: «كُونُوا مُقَدَّسِينَ، لأنِّي أنا قُدُّوسٌ.»

17 A nd if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

أنتُمْ تَدعُونَ اللهَ أباً، وَهُوَ يَحكُمُ عَلَى كُلِّ إنْسانٍ عَلَى أساسِ عَمَلِهِ، وَدُونَ أيِّ تَحَيُّزٍ. فَعِيشُوا إذاً حَياتَكُمْ فِي تَقوَى أثناءَ إقامَتِكُمُ المُؤَقَّتَةِ عَلَى هَذِهِ الأرْضِ.

18 f orasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

لَقَدْ دُفِعَ ثَمَنُ تَحريرَكُمْ مِنْ أُسلُوبِ حَياتِكُمُ العَقِيمِ الَّذِي وَرِثتُموهُ عَنْ آبائِكُمْ، لا بِمالٍ مَسبوكٍ مِنْ مَوادَّ فانيَةٍ كَالفِضَّةِ أوْ الذَّهَبِ،

19 b ut with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

بَلْ بِدَمِ المَسِيحِ الثَّمِينِ، دَمِ حَمَلٍ سَلِيمٍ خالٍ مِنَ العُيُوبِ.

20 w ho verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

وَقَدْ سَبَقَ أنِ اختارَ اللهُ المَسِيحَ قَبلَ خَلْقِ العالَمِ، لَكِنَّهُ أعلَنَهُ لِلعالَمِ فِي هَذِهِ الأيّامِ الأخِيرَةِ مِنْ أجلِكُمْ.

21 w ho by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

وَفِي المَسيحِ، أنتُمْ تُؤمِنُونَ بِاللهِ الَّذِي أقامَهُ مِنَ المَوتِ وَمَجَّدَهُ، لِيَكونَ إيمانُكُمْ وَرَجاؤكُمْ فِي اللهِ.

22 S eeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

لَقَدْ طَهَّرْتُمْ أنفُسَكُمْ بِإطاعَتِكُمْ لِلحَقِّ. فَأظهِرُوا مَحَبَّةً أخَوِيَّةً مُخلِصَةً، وَأحِبُّوا بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً مَحَبَّةً شَدِيدَةً مِنْ قَلْبٍ طاهِرٍ.

23 b eing born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

لَقَدْ وُلِدْتُمْ ثانِيَةً، لا مِنْ بِذْرَةٍ فانِيَةٍ، بَلْ مِنْ بِذْرَةٍ لا تَفنَى هِيَ كَلِمَةُ اللهِ الحَيَّةُ الخالِدَةُ.

24 F or all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

فَكَما يَقُولُ الكِتابُ: «البَشَرُ جَمِيعاً كَالعُشْبِ، وَكُلُّ مَجدِهِمْ أشبَهُ بِزَهْرِ العُشبِ. العُشْبُ يَجِفُّ، وَالزَّهْرُ يَسقُطُ.

25 b ut the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

أمّا كَلِمَةُ اللهِ فَتَبقَى إلَى الأبَدِ.» هَذِهِ هِيَ كَلِمَةُ اللهِ الَّتِي بُشِّرْتُمْ بِها.
