1 A nd David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

وَسَألَ داوُدُ: «هَلْ بَقِيَ أيُّ فَرْدٍ مِنْ عائِلَةِ شاوُلَ؟ أُرِيدُ أنْ أُظْهِرَ لَهُ لُطْفاً وَإحْساناً، مِنْ أجلِ يُوناثانَ.»

2 A nd there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he.

وَكانَ لَعائلَةِ شاوُلَ خادِمٌ يُدْعَى صِيبا. فأحْضَرَهُ الخَدَمُ إلَى داوُدَ. فقال لهُ المَلِكُ: «هَلْ أنْتَ صِيبا؟» قالَ صِيبا: «نَعَمْ أنا خادِمُكَ صِيبا.»

3 A nd the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.

فَقالَ المَلِكُ: «هَلْ بَقِيَ أيُّ شَخْصٍ مِنْ عائِلَةِ شاوُلَ؟ أُريدُ أنْ أصْنَعَ لَهُ إحْساناً وَخَيْراً.» فَقالَ صِيبا لِلمَلِكِ داوُدَ: «هُناكَ ابْنٌ لِيُوناثانَ ما زالَ حَيّاً وَهُوَ أعْرَجُ فِي سَاقَيهِ.»

4 A nd the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar.

فَقالَ الملِكُ لِصيِبا: «أيْنَ هُوَ هَذا الابْنُ؟» فقالَ صِيبا لِلمَلِك: «إنَّهُ فِي مَنْزِلِ ماكِيرَ بْنِ عَمِّيئِيلَ فِي لُودَبارَ.»

5 T hen king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar.

حِينَئِذٍ أرْسَلَ المَلِكُ بَعْضاً مِنْ ضُبّاطِهِ إلَى لُودَبارَ لِيُحْضِروا ابنَ يُوناثانَ مِنْ مَنْزِلِ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلِ.

6 N ow when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!

جاءَ مَفِيبُوشَثُ بْنُ يُوناثانَ إلَى داوُدَ وَانْحَنَى أمامَهُ بِرأسِهِ نَحْوَ الأرْضِ. قالَ داوُدُ: «أأنْتَ مَفِيبُوشَثُ؟» فَقالَ مَفِيبُوشَثُ: «نَعَمْ سَيِّدِي، هَذا أنا خادِمُكَ مَفِيبُوشَثُ.»

7 A nd David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

فَقالَ لَهُ داوُدُ: «لا تَخَفْ، سَأُحْسِنُ إلَيْكَ مِنْ أجلِ وَالِدِكَ يُوناثانَ. سَأُعِيدُ لَكَ أرْضَ جَدِّكَ شاوُلَ كُلَّها. وَسَتَتَناوَلُ طَعامَكَ عَلَى مائِدَتِي دائِماً.»

8 A nd he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

وَانْحَنى مَفِيبُوشَثُ مِنْ جَدِيدٍ أمامَ داوُدَ، وَقالَ: «أنا لَسْتُ أفْضَلَ مِنْ كَلْبٍ مَيتٍ لَكِنَّكَ تَتَصَرَّفُ مَعِي بِكَثِيرٍ مِنَ الطّيبَةِ.»

9 T hen the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master’s son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house.

فَاسْتَدْعَى المَلِكُ صِيبا خادِمَ شاوُلَ، وَقالَ لَهُ: «لَقَدْ أعْطَيتُ حَفِيدَ سَيِّدِكَ مَفِيبُوشَثَ كُلَّ ما كانَ لِشاوُلَ وَعائِلتِهِ.

10 T hou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master’s son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

سَتَعْمَلُ أنْتَ في أرْضِ مَفِيبُوشَثَ وكَذَلِكَ أبْناؤكَ وخَدَمُكَ. سَتَحْصُدُ المحاصِيلَ، فَيَحْصُلَ حفيدُ سَيِّدِكَ عَلَى الكَثيرِ مِنَ الطّعامِ لِيَأْكُلَهُ. لكنْهُ سَيَجلِسُ دائِماً إلَى مائِدَتِي.» وَكانَ لِصِيبا خَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ ابْناً وعِشرِينَ خادِماً.

11 T hen said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king’s sons.

فقالَ لِلْمَلِكِ داود: «أنا خادِمُك. وسأفَعَلُ كُلَّ ما يَأْمُرُني بِهِ مَولايَ المَلِكُ.» وَهَكَذا جَلَسَ مَفِيبُوشَثُ إلَى مائِدةِ داوُدَ كما لَوْ كانَ أحَدَ أبْناءِ المَلِكِ.

12 A nd Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.

وكانَ لَهُ ابْنٌ شابٌ يُدْعى مِيخا. وقَدْ أصْبَحَ كُلُّ النّاسِ في عائِلةِ صِيبا خُدّامَ مَفِيبُوشَثَ.

13 S o Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king’s table; and was lame on both his feet.

كان مَفِيبُوشَثُ أعْرَجَ السّاقينِ ويَعيشُ في مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ. وفي كُلِّ يومٍ، كانَ يَجلِسُ إلَى مائِدَةِ المَلِكِ لِتَناوُلِ الطّعامِ.
