1 W ould to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.

لَيتَكُمْ تَحتَمِلُونَ شَيئاً مِنْ حُمقِي! وَأنا أعرِفُ أنَّكُمْ تَحتَمِلُونَنِي!

2 F or I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

فَإنِّي غَيُّورٌ عَلَيكُمْ غِيْرَةً إلَهِيَّةً، لِأنِّي خَطَبتُكُمْ لِزَوجٍ واحِدٍ هُوَ المَسِيحُ، لِكَي أُقَدِّمَكُمْ إلَيهِ كَعَروسٍ طاهِرَةٍ.

3 B ut I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

لَكِنِّي أخشَى أنْ يَعبَثَ بَعضُهُمْ بِعُقُولِكُمْ، كَما خَدَعَتِ الحَيَّةُ حَوّاءَ بِمَكْرِها، فَتَتَراجَعُوا عَنِ الوَلاءِ الأصِيلِ لِلمَسِيحِ.

4 F or if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

إذْ يَبدو أنَّكُمْ مُستَعِدُّونَ لِقُبُولَ مَنْ يَأْتِي إلَيكُمْ مُبَشِّراً بِيَسُوعَ آخَرَ لَمْ نُبَشِّر بِهِ، وَرُوحٍ آخَرَ لَمْ تَقبَلُوهُ مِنّا!

5 F or I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.

وَأنا لا أظُنُّ أنِّي أقَلُّ شَأْناً فِي شَيءٍ مِنْ هَؤُلاءِ «الرُّسُلِ العِظامِ» الَّذِينَ يَأتُونَ إلَيكُمْ.

6 B ut though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.

رُبَّما أكُونُ مَحدُودَ القُدرَةِ فِي الكَلامِ، غَيْرَ أنِّي لَستُ مَحدُوداً فِي المَعرِفَةِ! وَقَدْ بَرهَنّا لَكُمْ هَذا بِوُضُوحٍ بِكُلِّ طَرِيقَةٍ وَفِي كُلِّ أمرٍ.

7 H ave I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?

أمْ لَعَلِّي ارتَكَبتُ خَطِيَّةً بِإنزالِ مَقامِيَ، إذْ بَشَّرتُكُمْ دُونَ مُقابِلٍ، لِكَي يَرتَفِعَ مَقامُكُمْ؟

8 I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.

فَقَدْ أثقَلتُ عَلَى كَنائِسَ أُخْرَى مادِّياً، لِكَي أتَمَكَّنَ مِنْ خِدمَتِكُمْ.

9 A nd when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.

وَلَمّا كُنتُ أحتاجُ إلَى شَيءٍ وَأنا مَعَكُمْ، لَمْ أُثقِلْ عَلَى أحَدٍ مِنكُمْ. بَلْ إنَّ الإخوَةَ الَّذِينَ وَصَلُوا مِنْ مَكدُونِيَّةَ هُمُ الَّذِينَ سَدُّوا حاجَتِي. وَفِي كُلِّ شَيءٍ لَمْ أسمَحْ لِنَفسِي، وَلَنْ أسمَحَ لَها، بِأنْ تَكُونَ عِبئاً عَلَيكُمْ.

10 A s the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.

وَما دامَ حَقُّ المَسِيحِ فِي داخِلي، لَنْ يَمنَعَنِي أحَدٌ مِنَ الِافتِخارِ بِهَذا فِي كُلِّ مُقاطَعَةِ أخائِيَّةَ.

11 W herefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.

لِماذا؟ ألِأنِّي لا أُحِبُّكُمْ؟ يَعلَمُ اللهُ كَمْ أُحِبُّكُمْ!

12 B ut what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

لَكِنِّي سَأُواصِلُ ما أعمَلُهُ، لِكَي لا أترُكَ مَجالاً لِهَؤُلاءِ الَّذِيْنَ يَفتَخِرُونَ بِأنَّ عَمَلَهُمْ مُساوٍ لِعَمَلِنا.

13 F or such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

فَمِثلُ هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ رُسُلٌ زائِفُونَ، عُمّالٌ مُخادِعُونَ، يَتَنَكَّرُونَ فِي صُورَةِ رُسُلٍ لِلمَسِيحِ.

14 A nd no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

وَلا عَجَبَ فِي ذَلِكَ، فَالشَّيطانُ نَفسُهُ يَتَنَكَّرُ فِي صُورَةِ مَلاكِ نُورٍ!

15 T herefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

فَلَيسَ صَعباً أنْ يَتَنَكَّرَ خُدّامُهُ فِي صُورَةِ خُدّامٍ لِلبِرِّ، لَكِنَّهُمْ سَيَنالُونَ فِي النِّهايَةِ ما يَستَحِقُّونَهُ جَزاءَ ما فَعَلُوا. حَدِيثُ بُولُسَ عَنْ مُعاناتِه

16 I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.

وَها أنا أقُولُ مِنْ جَدِيدٍ: لا يَظُنَّ أحَدٌ أنِّي أحمَقُ! لَكِنْ إنْ ظَنَنتُمْ هَذا، فَاقبَلُونِي عَلَى أنِّي أحمَقُ، لِكَي أتَمَكَّنَ مِنَ الِافتِخارِ قَلِيلاً.

17 T hat which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.

وَأنا لا أقُولُ ما أقُولُهُ الآنَ كَما لَوْ أنَّ الرَّبَّ يُرِيدُنِي أنْ أقُولَ ذَلِكَ، بَلْ كَأحمَقٍ يَجرؤُ عَلَى الِافتِخارِ!

18 S eeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.

يَفتَخِرُ كَثِيرُونَ بِنَجاحِهِمُ الدُّنيَوِيِّ، فَسَأفتَخِرُ أنا أيضاً!

19 F or ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.

فَأنتُمُ العُقَلاءُ تَحتَمِلُونَ الحَمقَى بِسُرُورٍ.

20 F or ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.

تَحتَمِلُونَ أنْ يَستَعبِدَكُمْ أحَدٌ، أوْ أنْ يَستَغِلَّكُمْ أحَدٌ، أوْ أنْ يَنتَفِخَ عَلَيكُمْ أحَدٌ، أوْ أنْ يَصفَعَكُمْ أحَدٌ عَلَى وُجُوهِكُمْ!

21 I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.

فَيا لِلخَجَلِ! كَمْ كُنّا ضُعَفاءَ مَعَكُمْ! لَكِنْ حَيثُ إنِّي أتَكَلَّمُ بِحُمقٍ، إنْ كانَ أحَدٌ يَجرُؤُ عَلَى الِافتِخارِ، فَسَأفتَخِرُ أنا أيضاً.

22 A re they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.

هَلْ هُمْ عِبرانِيُّونَ؟ فَأنا عِبرانِيٌّ كَذَلِكَ. هَلْ هُمْ مِنْ بَنِي إسرائِيلَ؟ فَأنا كَذَلِكَ. هَلْ هُمْ مِنْ أولادِ إبراهِيمَ؟ فَأنا كَذَلِكَ.

23 A re they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.

هَلْ هُمْ خُدّامُ المَسِيحِ؟ أقُولُ كَمُختَلِّ العَقلِ، إنِّي أفُوقُهُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ! فَقَدْ جاهَدتُ أكثَرَ، وَسُجِنتُ أكثَرَ، وَتَعَرَّضتُ لِلضَّربِ الشَّدِيدِ، وَواجَهتُ خَطَرَ المَوتِ مَرّاتٍ كَثِيرَةً.

24 O f the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.

جَلَدَنِي اليَهُودُ خَمسَ مَرّاتٍ، تِسعاً وَثَلاثِيْنَ جَلدَةً فِي كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ.

25 T hrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

وَضُرِبتُ بِالعِصِيِّ ثَلاثَ مَرّاتٍ، وَرُجِمتُ مَرَّةً، وَتَحَطَّمَتْ بِي السَّفِينَةُ ثَلاثَ مَرّاتٍ، وَأمضَيتُ نَهاراً وَلَيلَةً فِي مِياهِ البَحرِ.

26 i n journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

سافَرتُ بَرّاً أسفاراً كَثِيرَةً. وَتَعَرَّضتُ لِمَخاطِرِ السُّيُولِ، وَمَخاطِرِ اللُّصُوصِ، وَمَخاطِرَ مِنَ اليَهُودِ وَمِنْ غَيرِ اليَهُودِ، وَمَخاطِرَ فِي المَدِينَةِ، وَمَخاطِرَ فِي الرِّيفِ، وَمَخاطِرَ فِي البَحرِ، وَمَخاطِرَ مِنَ الإخوَةِ الزّائِفِينَ.

27 i n weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

عِشتُ وَسطَ الكَدِّ وَالتَّعَبِ. وَفِي لَيالٍ كَثِيرَةٍ لَمْ أعرِف طَعمَ النَّومِ. جُعتُ وَعَطِشتُ. وَبَقِيتُ دُونَ طَعامٍ مَرّاتٍ كَثِيرَةً، وَقاسَيتُ البَردَ دُونَ مَلابِسَ.

28 B eside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

وَفَضلاً عَنْ هَذِهِ المَشاكِلِ كُلِّها، عَلَيَّ ضُغُوطٌ يَومِيَّةٌ تَتَعَلَّقُ بِالِاهتِمامِ بِأُمُورِ كُلِّ الكَنائِسِ.

29 W ho is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

فَمَنْ يَضعُفُ وَلا أُشارِكُهُ ضَعفَهُ؟ وَمَنْ يَسقُطُ فِي خَطِيَّةٍ وَلا ألتَهِبُ؟

30 I f I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

فَإنْ كانَ لا بُدَّ لِي أنْ أفتَخِرَ، فَسَأفتَخِرُ بِما يُظْهِرُ ضَعفِي.

31 T he God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

وَيَعلَمُ إلَهُ الرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ وَأبُوهُ المُبارَكُ إلَى الأبَدِ، أنِّي لا أكذِبُ.

32 I n Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:

فَعِندَما كُنتُ فِي دِمَشقَ، أمَرَ الوالِي الَّذِي يَعمَلُ تَحتَ سُلطَةِ المَلِكِ الحارِثِ بِحِراسَةِ المَدِينَةِ لِكَي يَقْبِضَ عَلَيَّ.

33 a nd through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.

لَكِنَّ الإخوَةَ أنزَلُونِي فِي سَلِّةٍ مِنْ نافِذَةٍ فِي سُورِ المَدِينَةِ، فَنَجَوتُ مِنْ يَدِهِ.
