1 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.

قالَ لِي: «يا إنْسانُ، قِفْ عَلَى قَدَميكَ، فَأتَكَلَّمَ مَعكَ.»

2 A nd the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.

وَحِينَ تَكَلَّمَ مَعِي، دَخَلَتْ رُوحٌ فِيَّ، فَأوقَفَنِي عَلَى قَدَمَيَّ لأستَمِعَ لِلَّذِي يُكَلِّمُنِي.

3 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.

فَقالَ لِي: «يا إنْسانُ، ها أنا أُرسِلُكَ إلَى بَني إسْرائِيلَ، إلَى شَعبٍ عاصٍ تَمَرَّدَ عَلَيَّ. هُمْ وَآباؤُهُمُ تَعَدَّوْا شَرِيعَتِي حَتَّى هَذا اليَومَ.

4 F or they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God.

نَسلُهُمْ عَنِيدُونَ وَمُستَهتِرُونَ. فَها أنا أُرسِلُكَ إلَيْهِمْ لِتَقُولَ لَهُمْ: ‹هَذا هُوَ ما يَقُولُهُ الرَّبُّ الإلَهُ.›

5 A nd they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

وَسَواءٌ استَمَعُوا أمْ لَمْ يَستَمِعُوا، لأنَّهُمْ شَعبٌ مُتَمَرِدُّ. لَكِنَّهُمْ سَيَعرِفُونَ أنَّ نَبِيّاً كانَ فِي وَسَطِهِمْ.

6 A nd thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

وَأمّا أنتَ يا إنْسانُ، فَلا تَخَفْ مِنهُمْ وَلا مِنَ كَلامِهِمْ. مَعَ أنَّهُمْ يُحِيطُونَ بِكَ كَالأشواكِ وَالعُلِّيقِ الشّائِكِ وَالعَقارِبِ. فَلا تَخَفْ مِنْ كَلامِهِمْ وَلا مِنْ نَظَراتِهِمْ، لأنَّهُمْ شَعبٌ مُتَمَرِدُّ.

7 A nd thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

أبلِغهُمْ رِسالَتِي، سَواءٌ استَمَعُوا أمْ لَمْ يَستَمِعُوا، لأنَّهُمْ شَعبٌ مُتَمَرِدُّ.

8 B ut thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

أمّا أنتَ يا إنْسانُ، فَاسْتَمِعْ إلَى ما أقُولُهُ أنا لَكَ. لا تَكُنْ مُتَمَرِّداً وَعاصِياً كَهَذا الشَّعبِ المُتَمَرِّدِ وَالعاصِي. افتَحْ فَمَكَ وَكُلْ ما أُعطِيهِ لَكَ.»

9 A nd when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

ثُمَّ رَأيتُ يَداً تُمسِكُ بِلَفِيفَةٍ وَتَمتَدُّ إلَيَّ.

10 a nd he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

فَنَشَرَها أمامِي، وَإذا بِكَلِماتِ نَحِيبٍ وَوَيلاتٍ عَلَى وَجهَيْها مِنَ الدّاخِلِ وَمِنَ الخارِجِ!
