1 I f a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

«إنْ سَرَقَ رَجُلٌ ثَوراً أوْ خَرُوفاً وَذَبَحَهُ أوْ باعَهُ، يُعَوِّضُ السّارِقُ بِخَمسَةِ ثِيرانٍ عَنِ الثَّورِ، وَبِأربَعَةِ خِرافٍ عَنِ الخَرُوفِ.

2 I f a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

«إنْ أُمسِكَ لِصٌ وَهُوَ يَقتَحِمُ بَيتاً فَضُرِبَ وَماتَ، لا يَكُونُ لأحَدٍ حَقُّ الثَّأرِ لِدَمِهِ.

3 I f the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

لَكِنْ إنْ قُتِلَ فِي النَّهارِ، يَكُونُ هُناكَ حَقٌّ لِلثَّأرِ لِدَمِهِ. فَإنْ أُمْسِكَ حَيّاً وَلَيسَ مَعَهُ ما يُعَوِّضُ بِهِ عَمَّا سَرَقَهُ، يُباعُ كَعَبدٍ تَعْويضاً عَمَّا سَرَقَهُ.

4 I f the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

وَإنْ وُجِدَ ما سَرَقَهُ مَعَهُ حَيّاً، سَواءٌ أكانَ ثَوراً أمْ حِماراً أمْ خَرُوفاً، فَإنَّهُ يُعَوِّضُ بِالضِّعْفِ. التَّعوِيضُ عَنِ الضَّرَر

5 I f a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.

«إنْ رَعَى رَجُلٌ قَطِيعَهُ فِي حَقلِهِ أوْ كَرْمِهِ، ثُمَّ تُرِكَتْ ماشِيَتُهُ لِتَرْعَى فِي حَقلِ رَجُلٍ آخَرَ، يَنبَغِي أنْ يُعَوِّضَ مِنْ أفضَلِ إنتاجِ حَقلِهِ أوْ كَرمِهِ.

6 I f fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

«إنْ أشعَلَ رَجُلٌ ناراً فَتَخَطَّتْ حُدُودَ أرْضِهِ، وَأحرَقَتْ قَمحاً مُكَدَّساً أوْ زَرْعاً أوْ حَقلاً، يُعَوِّضُ مَنْ أشعَلَ النّارَ عَنْ ما احتَرَقَ.

7 I f a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

«إنْ أعطَى رَجُلٌ مالاً أوْ بَضائِعَ لِجارِهِ لِيَحتَفِظَ بِها لَهُ، وَسُرِقَتْ مِنْ بَيتِ الرَّجُلِ، وَقُبِضَ عَلَى اللِّصِّ، يُعَوِّضُ اللِصُّ عَنها كُلِّها.

8 I f the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.

فَإنْ لَمْ يُقبَضْ عَلَى اللِّصِّ، يَقِفُ صاحِبُ البَيتِ أمامَ القُضاةِ لِمَعْرِفَةِ إنْ كانَ هُوَ قَدْ سَرَقَ جارَهُ.

9 F or all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

«إنْ فُقِدَ ثَورٌ أوْ حِمارٌ أوْ خَرُوفٌ أوْ ثَوبٌ أوْ أيُّ شَيءٍ آخَرُ، وَجاءَ رَجُلانِ يَقُولُ كُلٌّ مِنْهُما إنَّ المَفْقُودَ لَهُ، تُقَدَّمُ دَعْواهُما إلَى القُضاةِ، وَالَّذِي يَحكُمُ القُضاةُ بِأنَّهُ المُذنِبُ، يُعَوِّضُ جارَهُ ضِعفَينِ.

10 I f a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:

«إنْ أعطَى رَجُلٌ جارَهُ حِماراً أوْ ثَوراً أوْ خَرُوفاً أوْ أيَّ حَيوانٍ لِيَحتَفِظَ لَهُ بِهِ، وَماتَ الحَيَوانُ أوْ جُرِحَ أوْ سُرِقَ وَلَمْ يَجِدْهُ أحَدٌ،

11 t hen shall an oath of the Lord be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

يَحلِفُ الجارُ بِاللهِ إنَّهُ لَمْ يَسْرِقْ مُلكَ جارِهِ. وَيَقْبَلُ المالِكُ بِالحُكمِ. وَلا يَكُونَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ الآخَرِ أنْ يُعَوِّضَ بِشَيءٍ.

12 A nd if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.

لَكِنْ إنْ سُرِقَ مِنهُ بِسَبَبِ إهمالِهِ، فَإنَّهُ يُعَوِّضُ مالِكَهُ.

13 I f it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

وَإنِ مَزَّقَهُ حَيوانٌ بَرِّيٌّ، فَلْيُحِضِرْ بَقايا الحَيوانِ. وَلا يَكُونُ عَلَيهِ أنْ يُعَوِّضَ عَنِ الحَيَوانِ المُمَّزَقِ بِشَيءٍ.

14 A nd if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.

«إنِ استَعارَ رَجُلٌ شَيئاً أوْ حَيواناً مِنْ جارِهِ، فَكُسِرَ ما استَعارَهُ أوْ ماتَ وَلَمْ يَكُنِ المالِكُ مَعَهُ، فَيَنبَغِي أنْ يُعَوِّضَ المالِكَ بِشَكلٍ كامِلٍ.

15 B ut if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

لَكِنْ إنْ كانَ مالِكُهُ مَعَهُ، لا يُعَوِّضُهُ بِشَيءٍ. وَإنْ كانَ الشَّيءُ أوِ الحَيوانُ مُستَأجَراً، فَالخَسارَةُ تُغَطَّى بِأُجرَةِ الاستِئجارِ.

16 A nd if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

«إنْ أغوَى رَجُلٌ فَتاةً عَذْراءَ غَيرَ مَخطُوبَةٍ لَهُ وَعاشَرَها، يَدفَعُ مَهْرَها كامِلاً وَيَتَزَوْجُها.

17 I f her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

فَإنْ رَفَضَ أبوها أنْ يُزَوِّجَها مِنْهُ، يَدْفَعُ الرَّجُلُ، عَلَى ايَّةِ حالٍ، ما يُعادِلُ مَهْرَ عَذْراءٍ. أخلاقٌ عامَّة

18 T hou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

«لا تَسمَحْ لِساحِرَةٍ بِأنْ تَعِيشَ.

19 W hosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

«مَنْ عاشَرَ حَيواناً مُعاشَرَةً جِنْسيَّةً، يُقتَلُ قَتلاً.

20 H e that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

«مَنْ يُقَدِّمُ ذَبائِحَ لِآلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى غَيرِ اللهِ يَنبَغِي أنْ يُبادَ.

21 T hou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

«لا تُسِئْ مُعامَلَةَ الغَرِيبِ المُقِيمِ فِي أرْضِكَ، لِأنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ غُرَباءَ فِي أرْضِ مِصرَ.

22 Y e shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

«لا تُسِئْ إلَى أرمَلَةٍ أوْ يَتِيمٍ.

23 I f thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

فَإنْ أسَأتَ إلَيها أوْ إلَيهِ، وَصَرَخَ إلَيَّ فَإنِّي سَأسمَعُ صَرْخَتَهُ.

24 a nd my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

سَيَشْتَدُّ غَضَبِي وَأقتُلُكُمْ بِالسَّيفِ، وَتَصِيرُ زَوجاتُكُمْ أرامِلَ، وَأولادُكُمْ يَتامَى.

25 I f thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

«إنْ أقرَضْتَ مالاً لِفَقِيرٍ مِنْ شَعبِيَ، فَلا تُعَامِلْهُ بِالرِّبا. لا تأخُذْ مِنْهُ فَائِدَةً.

26 I f thou at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

وَإنْ كُنتَ تَحتَفِظُ بِثَوبِ جارِكَ كَرَهِينَةٍ، أعِدْهُ إلَيهِ قَبلَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمسِ،

27 f or that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

فَهُوَ غِطاؤُهُ الوَحِيدُ، وَهُوَ ثَوبُ جِلْدِهِ. بِماذا يَتَغَطَّى حِينَ يَنامُ؟ فَحِينَ يَصرُخُ إلَيَّ، سَأسمَعُهُ لِأنِّي رَحِيمٌ.

28 T hou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

«لا تَشْتِمِ القُضاةِ. وَلا تَنطِقْ بِلَعنَةٍ عَلَى قائِدِ شَعبِكَ.

29 T hou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

«لا تَحتَفِظْ بِأوَّلِ إنتاجِ حَقلِكَ مِنَ الحُبُوبِ أوْ مِنْ نَبيذِ مِعصَرَتِكَ. وَكَرِّسْ لِي بِكرَ أبْنائِكَ.

30 L ikewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

وَكَذَلِكَ قَدِّمْ أبكارَ ثِيرانِكَ وَغَنَمِكَ. أبْقِ بِكرَ الحَيوانِ سَبعَةَ أيّامٍ مَعَ أُمِّهِ، ثُمَّ قَدِّمْهُ لِي فِي اليَومِ الثّامِنِ.

31 A nd ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

«كُونوا مُخَصَّصينَ لِي، فَلا تَأْكُلُوا لَحمَ حَيوانٍ قَتَلَهُ حَيوانٌ آخَرُ فِي الحَقلِ، بَلْ ألقُوهُ إلَى الكِلابِ.
