1 W hat shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

فَماذا نَقُولُ؟ أنَبقَى فِي الخَطِيَّةِ لِكَي تَزدادَ نِعمَةُ اللهِ؟

2 G od forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

بِالطَّبعِ لا! نَحنُ الَّذِينَ مُتنا بِالنِّسبَةِ لِلخَطِيَّةِ، كَيفَ نُواصِلُ العَيشَ فِيها؟

3 K now ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

أمْ أنَّكُمْ لا تَعلَمُونَ أنَّنا نَحنُ الَّذِينَ تَعَمَّدنا مُتَّحِدينَ بِالمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، قَدْ تَعَمَّدنا لِنَشتَرِكَ مَعَهُ فِي مَوتِهِ؟

4 T herefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

فَقَدْ دُفِنّا مَعَهُ مِنْ خِلالِ مَعمُودِيَّتِنا لِنَشتَرِكَ مَعَهُ فِي مَوتِهِ، حَتَّى كَما أُقِيمَ المَسِيحُ مِنَ المَوتِ بِقُوَّةِ الآبِ المَجِيدَةِ، نَسلُكُ نَحنُ أيضاً فِي حَياةٍ جَدِيدَةٍ.

5 F or if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

فَبِما أنَّنا اتَّحَدْنا مَعَهُ فِي مَوتٍ يُشبِهُ مَوتَهُ، فَسَنَتَّحِدُ مَعَهُ أيضاً فِي قِيامَةٍ تُشبِهُ قِيامَتَهُ.

6 k nowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

وَنَحنُ نَعلَمُ أنَّ ذاتَنا العَتِيقَةَ قَدْ صُلِبَتْ مَعَ المَسِيحِ لِكَي لا نَخضَعَ فِيما بَعْدُ لِذَواتِنا الأثِيمَةِ، فَلا نَعُودَ عَبِيداً لِلخَطِيَّةِ.

7 F or he that is dead is freed from sin.

لِأنَّ الَّذِي يَمُوتُ، يَتَحَرَّرُ مِنْ قُوَّةِ الخَطِيَّةِ.

8 N ow if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

وَبِما أنَّنا مُتنا مَعَ المَسِيحِ، فَإنَّنا نُؤمِنُ بِأنَّنا سَنَحيا أيضاً مَعَهُ.

9 k nowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

فَنَحنُ نَعرِفُ أنَّ المَسِيحَ الَّذِي أُقِيمَ مِنَ المَوتِ، لا يَمُوتُ ثانِيَةً، وَلَنْ يَسُودَ عَلَيهِ المَوتُ ثانِيَةً.

10 F or in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

فَالمَوتُ الَّذِي اختَبَرَهُ المَسِيحُ، كانَ لِكَي يَهزِمَ الخَطِيَّةَ مَرَّةً واحِدَةً نِهائِيَّةً. أمّا الحَياةُ الَّتِي يَحياها، فَيَحياها للهِ.

11 L ikewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

فَاعتَبِرُوا أنتُمْ أنفُسَكُمْ أمواتاً بِالنِّسبَةِ لِلخَطِيَّةِ، وَلَكِنْ أحياءً بِالنِّسبَةِ للهِ فِي المَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ.

12 L et not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

إذاً لا يَنبَغِي أنْ تَسمَحُوا لِلخَطِيَّةِ بِأنْ تَتَحَكَّمَ بِأجسامِكُمُ الفانِيَةِ، فَتَجعَلَكُمْ تُطِيعُونَ رَغَباتِها الشِّرِّيرَةِ.

13 N either yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

وَلا تُقَدِّمُوا أعضاءَ أجسامِكُمْ لِلخَطِيَّةِ كَأدَواتٍ فِي خِدمَةِ الإثمِ، بَلْ قَدِّمُوا أنفُسَكُمْ كَما يَلِيقُ بِمَنْ نالُوا حَياةً بَعدَ مَوتِهِمْ وَأُقِيمُوا مِنَ المَوتِ. وَقَدِّمُوا أعضاءَ أجسامِكُمْ للهِ كَأدَواتٍ لِلبِرِّ، وَفِي خِدمَةِ البِرِّ.

14 F or sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

وَلَنْ تَسُودَ الخَطِيَّةُ عَلَيكُمْ، لِأنَّكُمْ لا تَحيَونَ تَحتَ الشَّرِيعَةِ، بَلْ تَحتَ نِعمَةِ اللهِ. عَبِيدٌ لِلبِرّ

15 W hat then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

فَماذا نَفعَلُ؟ أيَجوزُ لَنا أنْ نُخطِئَ لِأنَّنا لا نَحيا تَحتَ الشَّرِيعَةِ، بَلْ تَحتَ نِعمَةِ اللهِ؟ بِالطَّبعِ لا!

16 K now ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

ألا تَعرِفُونَ أنَّكُمْ حِينَ تَضَعُونَ أنفُسَكُمْ تَحتَ تَصَرُّفِ شَخصٍ لِتُطِيعُوهُ، فَإنَّكُمْ تَكُونُونَ عَبِيداً لِمَنْ تُطِيعُونَ؟ فَالعُبُودِيَّةُ لِلخَطِيَّةِ تُؤَدِّي إلَى المَوتِ، وَالعُبُودِيَّةُ لِطاعَةِ اللهِ تُؤَدِّي إلَى البِرِّ.

17 B ut God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

لَكِنْ شُكراً للهِ لِأنَّكُمْ، رُغمَ أنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ عَبِيداً لِلخَطِيَّةِ، أطَعتُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ القَلبِ التَّعلِيمَ الَّذِي سُلِّمَ إلَيكُمْ.

18 B eing then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

فَتَحَرَّرتُمْ مِنَ الخَطِيَّةِ، وَأصبَحتُمْ عَبِيداً لِلبِرِّ.

19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

أنا أستَخدِمُ تَشبيهاتٍ بَشَريَّةً بِسَبَبِ ضَعفِكُمْ. لَقَدْ قَدَّمتُمْ فِيما مَضَى أعضاءَ أجسامِكُمْ لِلنَّجاسَةِ وَالإثمِ، فَكُنتُمْ عَبِيداً لَها. وَكانَ الإثمُ هُوَ الثَّمَرُ. فَالآنَ يَنبَغيْ أنْ تُقَدِّموا أعضاءَ أجسامِكُمْ لِحَياةِ البِرِّ، لِتَكُونُوا عَبِيداً لِلبِرِّ، وَتَكُونَ القَداسَةُ هِيَ الثَّمَرُ.

20 F or when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

فَحِينَ كُنتُمْ عَبِيداً لِلخَطِيَّةِ، كُنتُمْ غَيرَ خاضِعِينَ لِلبِرِّ.

21 W hat fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

فَأيُّ نَوعٍ مِنَ الثَّمَرِ كانَ لَكُمْ آنَذاكَ؟ كانَ ثَمَراً تَخْجَلونَ مِنْهُ الآنَ، وَنَتيجَتُهُ النِّهائِيَّةُ هِيَ المَوتُ.

22 B ut now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

أمّا الآنَ وَقَدْ تَحَرَّرتُمْ مِنَ الخَطِيَّةِ وَصِرتُمْ عَبِيداً للهِ، فَلَكُمْ ثَمَرُ القَداسَةِ، وَالنَتيجَةُ هِيَ الحَياةُ الأبَدِيَّةُ.

23 F or the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

لِأنَّ الأجرَ الَّذِي يُدفَعُ مُقابِلَ الخَطِيَّةِ هُوَ المَوتُ، أمّا عَطِيَةُ اللهِ المَجّانِيَّةُ، فَهِيَ حَياةٌ أبَدِيَّةٌ فِي المَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ رَبِّنا.
