1 R einó en su lugar Josafat su hijo, el cual se hizo fuerte contra Israel.

And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2 P uso ejércitos en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá, y colocó gente de guarnición en tierra de Judá, y asimismo en las ciudades de Efraín que su padre Asá había tomado.

And he placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had taken.

3 Y Jehová estuvo con Josafat, porque anduvo en los primeros caminos de David su padre, y no buscó a los baales,

And Jehovah was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto the Baals;

4 s ino que buscó al Dios de su padre, y anduvo en sus mandamientos, y no según las obras de Israel.

but he sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

5 J ehová, por tanto, confirmó el reino en su mano, y todo Judá dio a Josafat presentes; y tuvo riquezas y gloria en abundancia.

And Jehovah established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave gifts to Jehoshaphat; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

6 Y se animó su corazón en los caminos de Jehová, y quitó los lugares altos y las imágenes de Aserá de en medio de Judá.

And he took courage in the ways of Jehovah; moreover, he removed the high places and Asherahs out of Judah.

7 A l tercer año de su reinado envió sus príncipes Ben-háyil, Abdías, Zacarías, Natanael y Miqueas, para que enseñasen en las ciudades de Judá;

And in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, Ben-hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethaneel, and Micah, to teach in the cities of Judah;

8 y con ellos a los levitas Semaías, Netanías, Zebadías, Asael, Semiramot, Jonatán, Adonías, Tobías y Tobadonías; y con ellos a los sacerdotes Elisamá y Joram.

and with them the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-Adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9 Y enseñaron en Judá, teniendo consigo el libro de la ley de Jehová, y recorrieron todas las ciudades de Judá enseñando al pueblo.

And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of Jehovah with them; and they went about through all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.

10 Y cayó el pavor de Jehová sobre todos los reinos de las tierras que estaban alrededor de Judá, y no osaron hacer guerra contra Josafat.

And the terror of Jehovah was upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

11 Y traían de los filisteos presentes a Josafat, y tributos de plata. Los árabes también le trajeron ganados, siete mil setecientos carneros y siete mil setecientos machos cabríos.

And some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and tribute-silver. The Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.

12 I ba, pues, Josafat engrandeciéndose mucho; y edificó en Judá fortalezas y ciudades de aprovisionamiento.

And Jehoshaphat waxed exceeding great; and he built in Judah castles and store-cities.

13 T uvo muchas provisiones en las ciudades de Judá, y hombres de guerra muy valientes en Jerusalén.

And he had much business in the cities of Judah; and men of war, strong and valiant, in Jerusalem.

14 Y este es el número de ellos según sus casas paternas: de los jefes de los millares de Judá, el general Adnás, y con él trescientos mil hombres muy esforzados.

And these are the numbers of them according to their fathers' houses. Of Judah the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valour;

15 D espués de él, el jefe Johanán, y con él doscientos ochenta mil.

and next to him was Johanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;

16 T ras éste, Amasías hijo de Zicrí, el cual se había consagrado voluntariamente a Jehová, y con él doscientos mil hombres valientes.

and next to him, Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Jehovah; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.

17 D e Benjamín, Elyadá, hombre muy valeroso, y con él doscientos mil armados de arco y escudo.

And of Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valour, and with him two hundred thousand, armed with bow and shield;

18 T ras éste, Jozabad, y con él ciento ochenta mil dispuestos para la guerra.

and next to him was Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready prepared for war.

19 É stos servían al rey, sin contar los que el rey había puesto en las ciudades fortificadas en todo Judá.

These were they that waited on the king, besides those that the king had put in the fortified cities throughout Judah.
