1 A nd I returned and saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors was power, and they had no comforter.

我 又 转 念 ， 见 日 光 之 下 所 行 的 一 切 欺 压 。 看 哪 ， 受 欺 压 的 流 泪 ， 且 无 人 安 慰 ； 欺 压 他 们 的 有 势 力 ， 也 无 人 安 慰 他 们 。

2 T hen I praised the dead who are already dead more than the living who are yet alive;

因 此 ， 我 赞 叹 那 早 已 死 的 死 人 ， 胜 过 那 还 活 着 的 活 人 。

3 a nd more fortunate than both is he who hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

并 且 我 以 为 那 未 曾 生 的 ， 就 是 未 见 过 日 光 之 下 恶 事 的 ， 比 这 两 等 人 更 强 。

4 A nd I saw all labour, and all success of work, that it is man's jealousy of his neighbour. This also is vanity and pursuit of the wind.

我 又 见 人 为 一 切 的 劳 碌 和 各 样 灵 巧 的 工 作 就 被 邻 舍 嫉 妒 。 这 也 是 虚 空 ， 也 是 捕 风 。

5 T he fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.

愚 昧 人 抱 着 手 ， 吃 自 己 的 肉 。

6 B etter is a handful with quietness, than both hands full with labour and pursuit of the wind.

满 了 一 把 ， 得 享 安 静 ， 强 如 满 了 两 把 ， 劳 碌 捕 风 。

7 A nd I returned and saw vanity under the sun.

我 又 转 念 ， 见 日 光 之 下 有 一 件 虚 空 的 事 ：

8 T here is one and without a second; also he hath neither son nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour, neither is his eye satisfied with riches, and, For whom then am I labouring, and depriving my soul of good? This also is vanity and a grievous occupation.

有 人 孤 单 无 二 ， 无 子 无 兄 ， 竟 劳 碌 不 息 ， 眼 目 也 不 以 钱 财 为 足 。 他 说 ： 我 劳 劳 碌 碌 ， 刻 苦 自 己 ， 不 享 福 乐 ， 到 底 是 为 谁 呢 ？ 这 也 是 虚 空 ， 是 极 重 的 劳 苦 。

9 T wo are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

两 个 人 总 比 一 个 人 好 ， 因 为 二 人 劳 碌 同 得 美 好 的 果 效 。

10 F or if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him that is alone when he falleth, and who hath not another to lift him up!

若 是 跌 倒 ， 这 人 可 以 扶 起 他 的 同 伴 ； 若 是 孤 身 跌 倒 ， 没 有 别 人 扶 起 他 来 ， 这 人 就 有 祸 了 。

11 A gain, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one alone be warm?

再 者 ， 二 人 同 睡 就 都 暖 和 ， 一 人 独 睡 怎 能 暖 和 呢 ？

12 A nd if a overpower the one, the two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

有 人 攻 胜 孤 身 一 人 ， 若 有 二 人 便 能 敌 挡 他 ； 三 股 合 成 的 绳 子 不 容 易 折 断 。

13 B etter is a poor but wise youth than an old and foolish king, who knoweth no more how to be admonished.

贫 穷 而 有 智 慧 的 少 年 人 胜 过 年 老 不 肯 纳 谏 的 愚 昧 王 。

14 F or out of the prison-house he came forth to reign, although he was born poor in his kingdom.

这 人 是 从 监 牢 中 出 来 作 王 ， 在 他 国 中 ， 生 来 原 是 贫 穷 的 。

15 I saw all the living that walk under the sun, with the child, the second, that should stand up in his stead.

我 见 日 光 之 下 一 切 行 动 的 活 人 都 随 从 那 第 二 位 ， 就 是 起 来 代 替 老 王 的 少 年 人 。

16 n o end of all the people, of all that stood before them; those however that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and a striving after the wind.

他 所 治 理 的 众 人 就 是 他 的 百 姓 ， 多 得 无 数 ； 在 他 後 来 的 人 尚 且 不 喜 悦 他 。 这 真 是 虚 空 ， 也 是 捕 风 。
