1 R ejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.

Regozijai-vos no Senhor, vós justos, pois aos retos fica bem o louvor.

2 P raise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

Louvai ao Senhor com harpa, cantai-lhe louvores com saltério de dez cordas.

3 S ing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

Cantai-lhe um cântico novo; tocai bem e com júbilo.

4 F or the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.

Porque a palavra do Senhor é reta; e todas as suas obras são feitas com fidelidade.

5 H e loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

Ele ama a retidão e a justiça; a terra está cheia da benignidade do Senhor.

6 B y the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

Pela palavra do Senhor foram feitos os céus, e todo o exército deles pelo sopro da sua boca.

7 H e gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

Ele ajunta as águas do mar como num montão; põe em tesouros os abismos.

8 L et all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

Tema ao Senhor a terra toda; temam-no todos os moradores do mundo.

9 F or he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

Pois ele falou, e tudo se fez; ele mandou, e logo tudo apareceu.

10 T he Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

O Senhor desfaz o conselho das nações, anula os intentos dos povos.

11 T he counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

O conselho do Senhor permanece para sempre, e os intentos do seu coração por todas as gerações.

12 B lessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Bem-aventurada é a nação cujo Deus é o Senhor, o povo que ele escolheu para sua herança.

13 T he Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

O Senhor olha lá do céu; vê todos os filhos dos homens;

14 F rom the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

da sua morada observa todos os moradores da terra,

15 H e fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

aquele que forma o coração de todos eles, que contempla todas as suas obras.

16 T here is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

Um rei não se salva pela multidão do seu exército; nem o homem valente se livra pela muita força.

17 A n horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

O cavalo é vã esperança para a vitória; não pode livrar ninguém pela sua grande força.

18 B ehold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

Eis que os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os que o temem, sobre os que esperam na sua benignidade,

19 t o deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

para os livrar da morte, e para os conservar vivos na fome.

20 O ur soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

A nossa alma espera no Senhor; ele é o nosso auxílio e o nosso escudo.

21 F or our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

Pois nele se alegra o nosso coração, porquanto temos confiado no seu santo nome.

22 L et thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Seja a tua benignidade, Senhor, sobre nós, assim como em ti esperamos.
