1 A nd David spake unto the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

Davi dirigiu ao Senhor as palavras deste cântico, no dia em que o Senhor o livrou das mãos de todos os seus inimigos e das mãos de Saul, dizendo:

2 a nd he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

O Senhor é o meu rochedo, a minha fortaleza e o meu libertador.

3 t he God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

É meu Deus, a minha rocha, nele confiarei; é o meu escudo, e a força da minha salvação, o meu alto retiro, e o meu refúgio. O meu Salvador; da violência tu me livras.

4 I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Ao Senhor invocarei, pois é digno de louvor; assim serei salvo dos meus inimigos.

5 W hen the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;

As ondas da morte me cercaram, as torrentes de Belial me atemorizaram.

6 t he sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;

Cordas do Seol me cingiram, laços de morte me envolveram.

7 i n my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.

Na minha angústia invoquei ao Senhor; sim, a meu Deus clamei; do seu templo ouviu ele a minha voz, e o meu clamor chegou aos seus ouvidos.

8 T hen the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.

Então se abalou e tremeu a terra, os fundamentos dos céus se moveram; abalaram-se porque ele se irou.

9 T here went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

Das suas narinas subiu fumaça, e da sua boca um fogo devorador, que pôs carvões em chamas.

10 H e bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.

Ele abaixou os céus, e desceu; e havia escuridão debaixo dos seus pés.

11 A nd he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.

Montou num querubim, e voou; apareceu sobre as asas do vento.

12 A nd he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.

E por tendas pôs trevas ao redor de si, ajuntamento de águas, espessas nuvens do céu.

13 T hrough the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.

Pelo resplendor da sua presença acenderam-se brasas de fogo.

14 T he Lord thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.

Do céu trovejou o Senhor, o Altíssimo fez soar a sua vóz.

15 A nd he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.

Disparou flechas, e os dissipou; raios, e os desbaratou.

16 A nd the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

Então apareceram as profundezas do mar; os fundamentos do mundo se descobriram, pela repreensão do Senhor, pelo assopro do vento das suas narinas.

17 H e sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;

Estendeu do alto a sua mão e tomou-me; tirou-me das muitas águas.

18 h e delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.

Livrou-me do meu possante inimigo, e daqueles que me odiavam; porque eram fortes demais para mim.

19 T hey prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay.

Encontraram-me no dia da minha calamidade, porém o Senhor se fez o meu esteio.

20 H e brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

Conduziu-me para um lugar espaçoso; livrou-me, porque tinha prazer em mim.

21 T he Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

Recompensou-me o Senhor conforme a minha justiça; conforme a pureza e minhas mãos me retribuiu.

22 F or I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

Porque guardei os caminhos do Senhor, e não me apartei impiamente do meu Deus.

23 F or all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.

Pois todos os seus preceitos estavam diante de mim, e dos seus estatutos não me desviei.

24 I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity.

Fui perfeito para com ele, e guardei-me da minha iniqüidade.

25 T herefore the Lord hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.

Por isso me retribuiu o Senhor conforme a minha justiça, conforme a minha pureza diante dos meus olhos.

26 W ith the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright.

Para com o benigno te mostras benigno; para com o perfeito te mostras perfeito,

27 W ith the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury.

para com o puro te mostras puro, mas para com o perverso te mostras avesso.

28 A nd the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.

Livrarás o povo que se humilha, mas teus olhos são contra os altivos, e tu os abaterás.

29 F or thou art my lamp, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness.

Porque tu, Senhor, és a minha candeia; e o Senhor alumiará as minhas trevas.

30 F or by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.

Pois contigo passarei pelo meio dum esquadrão; com o meu Deus transporei um muro.

31 A s for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

Quanto a Deus, o seu caminho é perfeito, e a palavra do Senhor é fiel; é ele o escudo de todos os que nele se refugiam.

32 F or who is God, save the Lord ? and who is a rock, save our God?

Pois quem é Deus, senão o Senhor? e quem é rocha, senão o nosso Deus?

33 G od is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

Deus é a minha grande fortaleza; e ele torna perfeito o meu caminho.

34 H e maketh my feet like hinds’ feet: and setteth me upon my high places.

Faz ele os meus pés como os das gazelas, e me põe sobre as minhas alturas.

35 H e teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

Ele instrui as minhas mãos para a peleja, de modo que os meus braços podem entesar um arco de bronze.

36 T hou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.

Também me deste o escudo da tua salvação, e tua brandura me engrandece.

37 T hou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.

Alargaste os meus passos debaixo de mim, e não vacilaram os meus artelhos.

38 I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.

Persegui os meus inimigos e os destruí, e nunca voltei atrás sem que os consumisse.

39 A nd I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.

Eu os consumi, e os atravessei, de modo que nunca mais se levantaram; sim, cairam debaixo dos meus pés.

40 F or thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.

Pois tu me cingiste de força para a peleja; prostraste debaixo de mim os que se levantaram contra mim.

41 T hou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.

Fizeste que me voltassem as costas os meus inimigos, aqueles que me odiavam, para que eu os destruísse.

42 T hey looked, but there was none to save; even unto the Lord, but he answered them not.

Olharam ao redor, mas não houve quem os salvasse; clamaram ao Senhor, mas ele não lhes respondeu.

43 T hen did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad.

Então os moí como o pó da terra; como a lama das ruas os trilhei e dissipei.

44 T hou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.

Também me livraste das contendas do meu povo; guardaste-me para ser o cabeça das nações; um povo que eu não conhecia me serviu.

45 S trangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.

Estrangeiros, com adulação, se submeteram a mim; ao ouvirem de mim, me obedeceram.

46 S trangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places.

Os estrangeiros desfaleceram e, tremendo, sairam os seus esconderijos.

47 T he Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.

O Senhor vive; bendita seja a minha rocha, e exaltado seja Deus, a rocha da minha salvação,

48 I t is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me,

o Deus que me deu vingança, e sujeitou povos debaixo de mim,

49 a nd that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

e me tirou dentre os meus inimigos; porque tu me exaltaste sobre os meus adversarios; tu me livraste do homem violento.

50 T herefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

Por isso, ó Senhor, louvar-te-ei entre as nações, e entoarei louvores ao teu nome.

51 H e is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.

Ele dá grande livramento a seu rei, e usa de benignidade para com o seu ungido, para com Davi e a sua descendência para sempre.
