Psalm 19 ~ Psalm 19

picture

1 K i te tino kaiwhakatangi. He himene na Rawiri. E korerotia ana e nga rangi te kororia o te Atua; a e whakaaturia ana e te kikorangi te mahi a ona ringa.

The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.

2 E puaki ana te reo o tena rangi, o tena rangi, e whakaatu mohiotanga ana hoki tena po, tena po.

Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.

3 K ahore he hamumu, kahore he kupu, kahore e rangona to ratou reo.

There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.

4 K ua puta ta ratou aho ki te whenua katoa, a ratou kupu, a te pito ra ano o te ao. Whakaturia ana e ia ki reira te tapenakara mo te ra;

Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,

5 A e puta ana ia me he tane marena hou i tona whare moenga, whakai ana ia, pera ana me te tangata kaha e mea ana ki te oma whakataetae.

Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.

6 K o tona putanga kei tetahi pito o te rangi, a whawhe noa ke tetahi pito: kahore hoki tetahi mea e ngaro i tona mahana.

Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

7 T apatahi tonu te ture a Ihowa, he mea whakatahuri i te wairua: pono tonu nga whakaatu a Ihowa, e whakawhaiwhakaaro ana i te kuare.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;

8 H e tika nga ako a Ihowa, e whakahari ana i te ngakau, he ma te whakahau a Ihowa, e whakamarama ana i nga kanohi.

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

9 H e ma te wehi ki a Ihowa, pumau tonu ake ake, he pono nga whakaritenga a Ihowa, tika kau ano.

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 E ngari ena e hiahiatia ana i te koura, ae, i te tino koura ahakoa maha: reka atu i te honi, i te maturuturutanga iho o nga honikoma.

More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 N a ena ano tau pononga i whakatupato; he nui te utu ki te puritia.

Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.

12 K o wai e matau ana ki ona he? Whakamakia oku hara puku.

Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.

13 P uritia ano tau pononga kei riro i nga hara whakakake hei rangatira moku: ko reira ahau tu tika ai, a ka watea i te he nui.

Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

14 K ia manakohia nga kupu a toku mangai: me nga whakaaro o toku ngakau i tou aroaro, e Ihowa, e toku kamaka, e toku kaihoko.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
