1 A nd 480 years after the Israelites came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the second month, Ziv, he began to build the Lord’s house.

2 T he length of the house Solomon built for the Lord was sixty cubits, its breadth twenty, and its height thirty cubits.

Na, ko te whare i hanga nei e Kingi Horomona mo Ihowa, e ono tekau whatianga te roa, e rua tekau whatianga te whanui, a ko te tiketike e toru tekau whatianga.

3 T he length of the vestibule in front of the temple was twenty cubits, equal to the width of the house, and its depth in front of the house was ten cubits.

4 F or the house he made narrow windows.

Na i hanga e ia etahi matapihi mo te whare, he tu arapaki mau tonu.

5 A gainst the wall of the house he built chambers running round the walls of the house both of the Holy Place and of the Holy of Holies; and he made side chambers all around.

I hanga ano e ia etahi ruma ki te taha o te whare a whawhe noa, ki nga taha o te whare a whawhe noa, ki o te temepara, a ki o te ahurewa: na hanga ana e ia nga ruma ki te taha a whawhe noa.

6 T he first story’s side chambers were five cubits wide, those of the middle story six cubits wide, and of the third story seven cubits wide; for around the outside of the wall of the house he made offsets in order that the supporting beams should not be thrust into the walls of the house.

7 W hen the house was being built, its stone was made ready at the quarry, and no hammer, ax, or tool of iron was heard in the house while it was in building.

Na, ko te whare, i tona hanganga, he mea hanga ki te kohatu kua oti noa ake te whakapai, mai te rua kohatu: kahore hoki he hama, he toki ranei, tetahi mea rino ranei i rongona ki te whare i tona hanganga.

8 T he entrance to the lowest side chamber was on the right side of the house; and one went up winding stairs into the middle chamber and from the middle into the third.

9 S o Solomon built the temple building and finished it, and roofed the house with beams and boards of cedar.

Heoi hanga ana e ia te whare a oti ake; he hita nga kurupae me nga papa i hipokina ai e ia te whare.

10 T hen he built the stories of chambers against all the house, each five cubits high; and it was joined to the house with timbers of cedar.

I hanga e ia he ruma ki nga taha katoa o te whare, e rima whatianga te tiketike; he hita nga rakau i tau iho ai aua ruma ki te whare.

11 N ow the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

Na ko te putanga o te kupu a Ihowa ki a Horomona, i mea ia,

12 C oncerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in My statutes, execute My precepts, and keep all My commandments to walk in them, then I will fulfill to you My promises which I made to David your father.

Mo te whare e hanga nei e koe, ki te haere koe i runga i aku tikanga, a ka mahi i aku whakaritenga, ka mau hoki ki aku whakahau katoa, ka haere i runga i enei; katahi ka whakapumautia e ahau taku kupu ki a koe, taku i korero ai ki tou papa, ki a Rawiri.

13 A nd I will dwell among the Israelites and will not forsake My people Israel.

A ka noho ahau i waenganui i nga tama a Iharaira, e kore ano e whakarere i taku iwi, i a Iharaira.

14 S o Solomon built the house and finished it.

Heoi hanga ana e Horomona te whare a oti ake.

15 H e built the walls of the house (the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies) within with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house to the rafters of the ceiling. He covered the inside with wood, and the floor of the house with boards of cypress.

16 H e built twenty cubits of the rear of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the rafters; he built it within for the sanctuary, the Holy of Holies.

A e rua tekau nga whatianga o nga taha o te whare ki muri i hanga e ia ki te papa hita i raro a tae noa ki nga taha: i hanga ano ki te pera a roto, hei ahurewa, ara mo te wahi tino tapu.

17 T he house, that is, the temple in front of the Holy of Holies, was forty cubits long.

A, ko te whare, ara ko te temepara i mua o te ahurewa, e wha tekau whatianga te roa.

18 T he cedar on the house within was carved with gourds and open flowers. All was cedar; no stone was visible.

A he hita i roto i te whare, he mea whakairo ki te rapupuku, ki te puawai kowhera: he hita katoa; kahore he kohatu i kitea.

19 A nd he prepared the Holy of Holies in the inner room in which to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

20 T he Holy of Holies was twenty cubits in length, in breadth, and in height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He also overlaid the cedar altar.

21 S olomon overlaid the house within with pure gold, and he drew chains of gold across in front of the Holy of Holies and overlaid it with gold.

22 A nd the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished. Also the whole altar that belonged to the Holy of Holies he overlaid with gold.

23 W ithin the Holy of Holies he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high.

A i hanga e ia mo roto i te ahurewa e rua nga kerupima, he oriwa te rakau, kotahi tekau whatianga te tiketike o tetahi, o tetahi.

24 F ive cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub and five cubits its other wing; from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other was ten cubits.

25 T he wings of the other cherub were also ten cubits. Both cherubim were the same,

Kotahi tekau whatianga te rua o nga kerupima: kotahi te roa, kotahi te ahua o nga kerupima e rua.

26 T he height of one cherub ten cubits, as was the other.

Kotahi tekau whatianga te tiketike o tetahi kerupima: he pera ano te rua o nga kerupima.

27 H e put the cherubim within the inner sanctuary. Their wings were stretched out, so that the wing of one touched one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall, and their inner wings touched in the midst of the room.

28 S olomon overlaid the cherubim with gold.

29 H e carved all the walls of the house (these two holy rooms) round about with figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, within and without.

He mea tuhi ano nana nga taha katoa o te whare a tawhio noa, he kerupima nga mea i tuhia iho, he nikau, he puawai kowhera, ki roto, ki waho.

30 T he floor of the house he overlaid with gold, inside and out.

31 F or the Holy of Holies he made doors of olive wood; their entire width was one-fifth that of the wall.

Na, ko nga tatau mo te kuwaha o te ahurewa, i hanga e ia ki te oriwa te rakau: i riro i te korupe me nga pou tatau, kotahi o nga wahi e rima o te patu.

32 O n the two doors of olive wood he carved cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; he overlaid them with gold, and spread gold on the cherubim and palm trees.

Heoi hanga ana e ia e rua nga tatau, he oriwa te rakau; tuhia iho e ia, he kerupima nga mea i tuhia, he nikau, he puawai kowhera, whakakikoruatia ana e ia ki te koura; i tohaina iho ano e ia te koura ki runga ki nga kerupima, ki nga nikau.

33 A lso he made for the door of the Holy Place four-sided posts of olive wood.

Pera tonu tana hanga i nga pou mo te tatau o te temepara, he oriwa te rakau; ko te matotoru, ko te wha o nga wahi o te patu;

34 T he two doors were of cypress wood; the two leaves of each door were folding.

A e rua nga tatau, he kauri te rakau; he mea whakakopa nga taha e rua o tetahi tatau, a he mea whakakopa nga taha e rua o tetahi tatau.

35 H e carved on them cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, covered with gold evenly applied on the carved work.

I tuhia ano e ia he kerupima ki aua tatau, he nikau, he puawai kowhera; a whakakikoruatia iho ki te koura, he mea whakanoho iho ki runga ki te whakairo.

36 H e built the inner court with three rows of hewn stone and a row of cedar beams.

I hanga ano e ia to roto marae, e toru nga rarangi o te kohatu tarai; me te rarangi kurupae, he hita.

37 I n the fourth year the foundation of the Lord’s house was laid, in the month, Ziv.

No te wha o nga tau i whakatakotoria ai te turanga o te whare o Ihowa, ko Tiwhi te marama.

38 I n the eleventh year, in Bul, the eighth month, the house was finished throughout according to all its specifications. So he was seven years in building it.

A no te tekau ma tahi o nga tau, no marama Puru, ara no te waru o nga marama i oti ai nga aha katoa o te whare, ara nga mea katoa i whakaritea mona. E whitu nga tau e hanga ana ia i taua whare.
