Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.

2 P or que perguntariam as nações: Onde está o seu Deus?

Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?

3 M as o nosso Deus está nos céus; ele faz tudo o que lhe apraz.

But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

4 O s ídolos deles são prata e ouro, obra das mãos do homem.

Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

5 T êm boca, mas não falam; têm olhos, mas não vêem;

They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

6 t êm ouvidos, mas não ouvem; têm nariz, mas não cheiram;

they have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:

7 t êm mãos, mas não apalpam; têm pés, mas não andam; nem som algum sai da sua garganta.

they have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.

8 S emelhantes a eles sejam os que fazem, e todos os que neles confiam.

They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.

9 C onfia, ó Israel, no Senhor; ele é seu auxílio e seu escudo.

O Israel, trust thou in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

10 C asa de Arão, confia no Senhor; ele é seu auxílio e seu escudo.

O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

11 V ós, os que temeis ao Senhor, confiai no Senhor; ele é seu auxílio e seu escudo.

Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

12 O Senhor tem-se lembrado de nós, abençoar-nos-á; abençoará a casa de Israel; abençoará a casa de Arão;

The Lord hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.

13 a bençoará os que temem ao Senhor, tanto pequenos como grandes.

He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great.

14 A umente-vos o Senhor cada vez mais, a vós e a vossos filhos.

The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

15 S ede vós benditos do Senhor, que fez os céus e a terra.

Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.

16 O s céus são os céus do Senhor, mas a terra, deu-a ele aos filhos dos homens.

The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

17 O s mortos não louvam ao Senhor, nem os que descem ao silêncio;

The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.

18 n ós, porém, bendiremos ao Senhor, desde agora e para sempre. Louvai ao Senhor.

But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the Lord.
