1 T u, porém, fala o que convém ã sã doutrina.

But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

2 E xorta os velhos a que sejam temperantes, sérios, sóbrios, sãos na fé, no amor, e na constância;

that the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

3 a s mulheres idosas, semelhantemente, que sejam reverentes no seu viver, não caluniadoras, não dadas a muito vinho, mestras do bem,

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

4 p ara que ensinem as mulheres novas a amarem aos seus maridos e filhos,

that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

5 a serem moderadas, castas, operosas donas de casa, bondosas, submissas a seus maridos, para que a palavra de Deus não seja blasfemada.

to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

6 E xorta semelhantemente os moços a que sejam moderados.

Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

7 E m tudo te dá por exemplo de boas obras; na doutrina mostra integridade, sobriedade,

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

8 l inguagem sã e irrepreensível, para que o adversário se confunda, não tendo nenhum mal que dizer de nós.

sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

9 E xorta os servos a que sejam submissos a seus senhores em tudo, sendo-lhes agradáveis, não os contradizendo

Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

10 n em defraudando, antes mostrando perfeita lealdade, para que em tudo sejam ornamento da doutrina de Deus nosso Salvador.

not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

11 P orque a graça de Deus se manifestou, trazendo salvação a todos os homens,

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 e nsinando-nos, para que, renunciando ã impiedade e

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13 a guardando a bem-aventurada esperança e o aparecimento da glória do nosso grande Deus e Salvador Cristo Jesus,

looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14 q ue se deu a si mesmo por nós para nos remir de toda a iniqüidade, e purificar para si um povo todo seu, zeloso de boas obras.

who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

15 F ala estas coisas, exorta e repreende com toda autoridade. Ninguém te despreze.

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
