1 L obet den HERR! denn unsern Gott loben, das ist ein köstlich Ding; solch Lob ist lieblich und schön.

Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

2 D er HERR baut Jerusalem und bringt zusammen die Verjagten Israels.

The Lord doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

3 E r heilt, die zerbrochnes Herzens sind, und verbindet ihre Schmerzen.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

4 E r zählt die Sterne und nennt sie alle mit Namen.

He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

5 D er HERR ist groß und von großer Kraft; und ist unbegreiflich, wie er regiert.

Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

6 D er Herr richtet auf die Elenden und stößt die Gottlosen zu Boden.

The Lord lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.

7 S inget umeinander dem HERRN mit Dank und lobet unsern Gott mit Harfen,

Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:

8 d er den Himmel mit Wolken verdeckt und gibt Regen auf Erden; der Gras auf Bergen wachsen läßt;

Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

9 d er dem Vieh sein Futter gibt, den jungen Raben, die ihn anrufen.

He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

10 E r hat nicht Lust an der Stärke des Rosses noch Gefallen an eines Mannes Schenkeln.

He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.

11 D er HERR hat Gefallen an denen, die ihn fürchten, die auf seine Güte hoffen.

The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

12 P reise, Jerusalem, den HERRN; lobe Zion, deinen Gott!

Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

13 D enn er macht fest die Riegel deiner Tore und segnet deine Kinder drinnen.

For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.

14 E r schafft deinen Grenzen Frieden und sättigt dich mit dem besten Weizen.

He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.

15 E r sendet seine Rede auf Erden; sein Wort läuft schnell.

He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.

16 E r gibt Schnee wie Wolle, er streut Reif wie Asche.

He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.

17 E r wirft seine Schloßen wie Bissen; wer kann bleiben vor seinem Frost?

He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?

18 E r spricht, so zerschmilzt es; er läßt seinen Wind wehen, so taut es auf.

He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 E r zeigt Jakob sein Wort, Israel seine Sitten und Rechte.

He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

20 S o tut er keinen Heiden, noch läßt er sie wissen seine Rechte. Halleluja!

He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the Lord.
