1 A ye, my heart trembleth at this also, and leapeth up out of its place:
¶ At this also my heart trembles and is moved out of its place.
2 H ear attentively the roar of his voice, and the murmur going forth from his mouth.
Hear attentively his terrible voice and the word that goes out of his mouth.
3 H e sendeth it forth under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.
He shall place it straight under the whole of the heavens, and his light shall extend unto the ends of the earth.
4 A fter it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency, and holdeth not back the flashes when his voice is heard.
After it shall the sound roar; his valiant voice shall thunder; and he will not stay them even when his voice is heard.
5 G od thundereth marvellously with his voice, doing great things which we do not comprehend.
God shall thunder marvelously with his voice; he does great things, which we cannot comprehend.
6 F or he saith to the snow, Fall on the earth! and to the pouring rain, even the pouring rains of his might.
¶ For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; rain after rain, and rain after rain in his strength.
7 H e sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.
He seals up the hand of every man that all men may know his work.
8 A nd the wild beast goeth into its lair, and they remain in their dens.
Then the beast shall go into its lair and inhabit its dwelling.
9 F rom the chamber cometh the whirlwind; and cold from the winds of the north.
Out of the south comes the whirlwind and cold out of the north wind.
10 B y the breath of God ice is given; and the breadth of the waters is straitened.
By the breath of God ice is given; and the broad waters are constrained.
11 A lso with plentiful moisture he loadeth the thick clouds, his light dispels the cloud;
In addition to this, with clarity he wearies the thick clouds; and he scatters them with his light.
12 A nd they are turned every way by his guidance, that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the circuit of the earth,
And they are turned round about by his counsels; that they may do whatever he commands them upon the face of the world in the earth.
13 W hether he cause it to come as a rod, or for his land, or in mercy.
On some occasions for correction, on others for his land, on others for mercy he causes them to appear.
14 H earken unto this, Job; stand still and discern the wondrous works of God.
¶ Hearken unto this, Job; stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
15 D ost thou know how +God hath disposed them, and how he causeth the lightning of his cloud to flash?
Dost thou know when God disposed them and caused the light of his cloud to shine?
16 D ost thou know about the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him that is perfect in knowledge?
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of the one who is perfect in knowledge?
17 H ow thy garments become warm when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?
How thy garments are warm, when he quiets the earth by the south wind?
18 H ast thou with him spread out the sky, firm, like a molten mirror?
Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong and as a molten looking glass?
19 T each us what we shall say unto him! We cannot order by reason of darkness.
Teach us what we should say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.
20 S hall it be told him if I would speak? if a man say, surely he shall be swallowed up.
Shall it be told him when I speak? When someone is swallowed up shall it be told him?
21 A nd now see not the light as it gleameth, it is in the skies. But the wind passeth by and cleareth them.
¶ Also, sometimes the clear light which is in the heavens is not seen, but the wind passes and cleanses them.
22 F rom the north cometh gold; with +God is terrible majesty.
Fair weather comes out of the north; with God is terrible majesty.
23 T he Almighty, we cannot find him out: excellent in power, and in judgment, and in abundance of justice, he doth not afflict.
Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out; he is excellent in power and in judgment, and in plenty of righteousness he will not afflict.
24 M en do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
Men, therefore, shall fear him; all the crafty of heart shall not see him.
