1 T herefore having been justified on the principle of faith, we have peace towards God through our Lord Jesus Christ;
¶ Justified therefore by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus, the Christ,
2 b y whom we have also access by faith into this favour in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God.
by whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and glory in hope of the glory of the sons of God.
3 A nd not only, but we also boast in tribulations, knowing that tribulation works endurance;
And not only this, but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience;
4 a nd endurance, experience; and experience, hope;
and patience, experience; and experience, hope;
5 a nd hope does not make ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by Holy Spirit which has been given to us:
and the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.
6 f or we being still without strength, in due time Christ has died for ungodly.
¶ For the Christ, when we were yet weak, in his time died for the ungodly.
7 F or scarcely for just will one die, for perhaps for good some one might also dare to die;
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die, yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 b ut God commends his love to us, in that, we being still sinners, Christ has died for us.
But God increased the price of his charity toward us in that while we were yet sinners the Christ died for us.
9 M uch rather therefore, having been now justified in his blood, we shall be saved by him from wrath.
Then much more now justified in his blood, we shall be saved from wrath by him.
10 F or if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much rather, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in his life.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled with God by the death of his Son, much more, now reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 A nd not only, but making our boast in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom now we have received the reconciliation.
And not only this, but we even glory in God through our Lord Jesus, the Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation.
12 F or this, even as by one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death; and thus death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Therefore, in the manner which sin entered into the world by one man, and because of sin, death; and so death passed upon all men in the one in whom all sinned.
13 ( for until law sin was in world; but sin is not put to account when there is no law;
For until the law, sin was in the world; but the sin was not imputed, there being no law.
14 b ut death reigned from Adam until Moses, even upon those who had not sinned in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is figure of him to come.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even in those that did not sin after the manner of the rebellion of Adam, who is a figure of him that was to come.
15 B ut not the act of favour as the offence? For if by the offence of one the many have died, much rather has the grace of God, and the free gift in grace, which by the one man Jesus Christ, abounded unto the many.
But not as the offense, so also is the gift. For if through the offense of that one many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of one man, Jesus the Christ, has abounded unto many.
16 A nd not as by one that has sinned the gift? For the judgment of one to condemnation, but the act of favour, of many offences unto justification.
Nor was it in the same manner as by one sin, likewise also the gift; for the judgment truly came of one sin unto condemnation, but grace came of many offenses unto justification.
17 F or if by the offence of the one death reigned by the one, much rather shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and of the free gift of righteousness, reign in life by the one Jesus Christ:)
For if by one offense, death reigned because of one man; much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of gifts and of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus the Christ.
18 s o then as by one offence towards all men to condemnation, so by one righteousness towards all men for justification of life.
Therefore, in the same manner that by the iniquity of one guilt came upon all men unto condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one, grace came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 F or as indeed by the disobedience of the one man the many have been constituted sinners, so also by the obedience of the one the many will be constituted righteous.
For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
20 B ut law came in, in order that the offence might abound; but where sin abounded grace has overabounded,
Moreover the law entered that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound,
21 i n order that, even as sin has reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
so that in the same manner as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus, the Christ, our Lord.
