1 A nd the sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, took each of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and presented strange fire before Jehovah, which he had not commanded them.
¶ And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took each of them his censer and put fire therein and put incense thereon and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he had never commanded them.
2 A nd there went out fire from before Jehovah, and devoured them, and they died before Jehovah.
And there went out fire from the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
3 A nd Moses said to Aaron, This is what Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be hallowed in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron was silent.
¶ Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is what the LORD spoke, saying, I will be sanctified in those that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron was silent.
4 A nd Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.

5 A nd they went near, and carried them in their vests out of the camp, as Moses had said.

6 A nd Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar his sons, Your heads shall ye not uncover, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come on all the assembly; but your brethren, the whole house of Israel, shall bewail the burning which Jehovah hath kindled.
Then Moses said unto Aaron and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Do not uncover your heads, neither rend your clothes lest ye die and lest wrath come upon the whole congregation; but your brethren, the whole house of Israel, shall lament the burning which the LORD has done.
7 A nd ye shall not go out from the entrance of the tent of meeting, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of Jehovah is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.
And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.
8 A nd Jehovah spoke to Aaron, saying,
¶ And the LORD spoke unto Aaron, saying,
9 T hou shalt not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, and thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tent of meeting, lest ye die— an everlasting statute throughout your generations,
Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee when ye go into the tabernacle of the testimony, lest ye die; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations;
10 t hat ye may put difference between the holy and the unholy, and between unclean and clean,
and this is that ye may discern between the holy and the profane and between the unclean and the clean
11 a nd that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which Jehovah hath spoken to them by the hand of Moses.
and that ye may teach the sons of Israel all the statutes which the LORD has spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.
12 A nd Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the oblation that is left of Jehovah's offerings by fire, and eat it with unleavened bread beside the altar; for it is most holy.
¶ And Moses spoke unto Aaron and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the present that remains of the offerings on fire unto the LORD and eat it without leaven beside the altar; for it is most holy:
13 A nd ye shall eat it in a holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of Jehovah's offerings by fire; for so I am commanded.
Ye must, therefore, eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due and thy sons’ due of the offerings of the LORD on fire; for so I am commanded.
14 A nd the breast of the wave-offering, and the shoulder of the heave-offering shall ye eat in a clean place, thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee; for thy due, and thy sons' due, are they given of the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the children of Israel.
And the waved breast and elevated shoulder shall ye likewise eat in a clean place, thou and thy sons and thy daughters with thee; for they are thy due and thy sons’ due, which are given out of the sacrifices of the peace of the sons of Israel.
15 T he shoulder of the heave-offering and the breast of the wave-offering shall they bring, with the fire-offering of the pieces of fat, to wave as a wave-offering before Jehovah; and they shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, for an everlasting statute, as Jehovah has commanded.
With the offerings of the fat which are to be lit on fire, they shall bring the shoulder which is to be elevated and the breast which shall be waved as a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine and thy sons’ with thee by a perpetual statute, as the LORD has commanded.
16 A nd Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering, and behold, it was burnt up: then he was wroth with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron that were left, saying,
And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin, and, behold, it was burnt up, and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left alive, saying,
17 W hy have ye not eaten the sin-offering in a holy place? for it is most holy, and he has given it to you that ye might bear the iniquity of the assembly, to make atonement for them before Jehovah.
Why have ye not eaten of the atonement for sin in the holy place? For it is most holy, and God has given it to you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, that they may be reconciled before the LORD.
18 L o, its blood was not brought in within the sanctuary: ye should certainly have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.
Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the inner sanctuary; ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.
19 A nd Aaron said to Moses, Behold, to-day have they presented their sin-offering and their burnt-offering before Jehovah; and such things have befallen me; and had I to-day eaten the sin-offering, would it have been good in the sight of Jehovah?
And Aaron replied unto Moses, Behold, today they have offered their sin and their burnt offering before the LORD; with all this, these things have befallen me; therefore if I had eaten of the atonement for sin today, would it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD?
20 A nd Moses heard it; and it was good in his sight.
And when Moses heard that, he was content.
