1 P raise ye Jah! for it is good. Sing psalms of our God; for it is pleasant: praise is comely.

¶ Halelu-JAH: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for praise is pleasant and beautiful.

2 J ehovah doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth the outcasts of Israel.

The LORD, he who builds up Jerusalem; shall gather together the outcasts of Israel.

3 H e healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

He heals the broken hearted, and he binds up their wounds.

4 H e counteth the number of the stars; he giveth names to them all.

He counts the number of the stars and calls them all by their names.

5 G reat is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

Great is our Lord and of great power; his intelligence is infinite.

6 J ehovah lifteth up the meek; he abaseth the wicked to the earth.

The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked down to the earth.

7 S ing unto Jehovah with thanksgiving; sing psalms upon the harp unto our God:

Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:

8 W ho covereth the heavens with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains;

Who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares the rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains.

9 W ho giveth to the cattle their food, to the young ravens which cry.

He who gives the beast his food and to the sons of the ravens which cry unto him.

10 H e delighteth not in the strength of the horse, he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man;

He does not delight in the strength of the horse; nor does he take pleasure in the legs of a man.

11 J ehovah taketh pleasure in those that fear him, in those that hope in his loving-kindness.

The LORD takes pleasure in those that fear him, in those that wait upon his mercy.

12 L aud Jehovah, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

¶ Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

13 F or he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee;

For he has strengthened the bars of thy gates; he has blessed thy sons within thee.

14 H e maketh peace in thy borders; he satisfieth thee with the finest of the wheat.

He who makes peace to be thy borders shall fill thee with the finest of the wheat.

15 H e sendeth forth his oracles to the earth: his word runneth very swiftly.

He sends forth his word upon earth; his word runs very swiftly.

16 H e giveth snow like wool, scattereth the hoar frost like ashes;

He who gives snow like wool scatters the hoarfrost like ashes.

17 H e casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?

He casts forth his ice like morsels; who can stand before his cold?

18 H e sendeth his word, and melteth them; he causeth his wind to blow—the waters flow.

He shall send forth his word and melt them; his wind shall blow, and the waters shall flow.

19 H e sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

He declares his words unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

20 H e hath not dealt thus with any nation; and as for judgments, they have not known them. Hallelujah!
