1 H ezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.
2 H e did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that David his father had done.
A he tika tana mahi ki ta Ihowa titiro, i rite ki nga mea katoa i mea ai tona papa, a Rawiri.
3 H e in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of Yahweh’s house, and repaired them.
4 H e brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the wide place on the east,
5 a nd said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify Yahweh’s house, the God of your fathers, and carry out the filthiness out of the holy place.
6 F or our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in Yahweh our God’s sight, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Yahweh, and turned their backs.
I he hoki o tatou matua, i mahi i te kino i te titiro a Ihowa, a to tatou Atua. Whakarerea ake ia e ratou, tahuri ke ana o ratou aroaro i te tapenakara o Ihowa; hurihia ake e ratou ko o ratou tuara.
7 A lso they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel.
Ko nga tatau ano o te whakamahau, i tutakina e ratou; tineia iho nga rama, kihai hoki he whakakakara i tahuna e ratou; a kahore he tahunga tinana i whakaekea i te wahi tapu ki te Atua o Iharaira.
8 T herefore Yahweh’s wrath was on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as you see with your eyes.
9 F or, behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
Nana, kua hinga nei o tatou matua i te hoari; ko te mea ano tenei i whakaraua ai a tatou tama, a tatou tamahine, a tatou wahine.
10 N ow it is in my heart to make a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us.
11 M y sons, don’t be negligent now; for Yahweh has chosen you to stand before him, to minister to him, and that you should be his ministers, and burn incense.”
E aku tama, kaua koutou e mangere: he mea whiriwhiri nei hoki koutou na Ihowa hei tu ki tona aroaro, hei mahi ki a ia, hei minita ki a ia, hei tahu whakakakara.
12 T hen the Levites arose, Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;
Katahi ka whakatika nga Riwaiti, a Mahata tama a Amahai, a Hoera tama a Ataria, no nga tama a nga Kohati: a, o nga tama a Merari, ko Kihi tama a Apari, ko Ataria tama a Ieharereere: o nga Kerehoni hoki, ko Ioaha tama a Tima, ko Erene tama a Ioah a:
13 a nd of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah;
A, o nga tama a Eritapana, ko Himiri, ko Teiere: o nga tama a Ahapa, ko Hakaraia, ko Matania;
14 a nd of the sons of Heman, Jehuel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel.
O nga tama a Hemana, ko Tehiere, ko Himei; o nga tama e Ierutunu, ko Hemaia, ko Utiere.
15 T hey gathered their brothers, and sanctified themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by Yahweh’s words, to cleanse Yahweh’s house.
16 T he priests went in to the inner part of Yahweh’s house, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in Yahweh’s temple into the court of Yahweh’s house. The Levites took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook Kidron.
17 N ow they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of Yahweh; and they sanctified Yahweh’s house in eight days: and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
18 T hen they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace, and said, “We have cleansed all Yahweh’s house, and the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and the table of show bread, with all its vessels.
19 M oreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign threw away when he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctified; and behold, they are before the altar of Yahweh.”
Ko nga oko katoa hoki i akiritia atu e Kingi Ahata i tona kingitanga, i a ia i he ra, kua oti i a matou te whakapai, te whakatapu. Nana, ko aua mea ra kei te aronga o te aata a Ihowa.
20 T hen Hezekiah the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to Yahweh’s house.
21 T hey brought seven bulls, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven male goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. He commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Yahweh.
22 S o they killed the bulls, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood on the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood on the altar.
23 T hey brought near the male goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands on them:
24 a nd the priests killed them, and they made a sin offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.
25 H e set the Levites in Yahweh’s house with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was of Yahweh by his prophets.
I whakaturia ano e ia nga Riwaiti ki te whare o Ihowa, he himipora a ratou, he hatere, he hapa; ko ta Rawiri hoki ia i whakahau ai, ratou ko Kara matakite a te kingi, ko Natana poropiti: na Ihowa hoki te whakahau, ara na ana poropiti.
26 T he Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
Tu ana tera nga Riwaiti, me nga mea whakatangi a Rawiri, me nga tohunga ano, mau tetere ana.
27 H ezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song of Yahweh began also, and the trumpets, together with the instruments of David king of Israel.
28 A ll the assembly worshiped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.
Na koropiko katoa ana te whakaminenga, waiata ana nga kaiwaiata, whakatangihia ana nga tetere: i mahia katoa tenei a mutu noa te tahunga tinana.
29 W hen they had finished offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed themselves and worshiped.
A, no te mutunga o te whakaeke, ka tuohu te kingi me ona hoa katoa i reira, a koropiko ana.
30 M oreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises to Yahweh with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.
I whakahau ano a Kingi Hetekia me nga rangatira ki nga Riwaiti kia whakamoemiti ki a Ihowa; hei nga kupu ano a Rawiri raua ko Ahapa matakite.
31 T hen Hezekiah answered, “Now you have consecrated yourselves to Yahweh; come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into Yahweh’s house.” The assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings.
Katahi a Hetekia ka oho, ka mea, Na kua whakatapua nei koutou ki a Ihowa, neke mai, kawea mai nga patunga tapu, me nga whakawhetai ki te whare o Ihowa. Na kei te kawe mai te whakaminenga i nga patunga tapu, i nga whakawhetai, a he tahunga tinana ano ta nga ngakau hihiko katoa.
32 T he number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to Yahweh.
33 T he consecrated things were six hundred head of cattle and three thousand sheep.
Na, ko nga mea i whakatapua, e ono rau kau, e toru mano hipi.
34 B ut the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: therefore their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
Otiia he torutoru rawa nga tohunga, kihai i kaha ki te tihore i nga tahunga tinana katoa. Na ka pikitia ratou e o ratou teina, e nga Riwaiti, a oti noa te mahi, kia oti ra ano te whakatapu a nga tohunga i a ratou; engari hoki nga Riwaiti i nga t ohunga, i tika o ratou ngakau ki te whakatapu i a ratou.
35 A lso the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of Yahweh’s house was set in order.
A he tini nga tahunga tinana, me te ngako o nga whakahere mo te pai, me nga ringihanga ano mo nga tahunga tinana. Heoi kua oti te mahi o te whare o Ihowa te whakatika.
36 H ezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
Na koa tonu a Hetekia ratou ko te iwi katoa, mo ta te Atua i whakarite ai ma te iwi; he mea oho tata hoki tenei.
