Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.

What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.

3 M as desejo falar ao Todo-poderoso e defender a minha causa diante de Deus.

Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

4 V ocês, porém, me difamam com mentiras; todos vocês são médicos que de nada valem!

But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

5 S e tão-somente ficassem calados, mostrariam sabedoria.

O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

6 E scutem agora o meu argumento; prestem atenção à réplica de meus lábios.

Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

7 V ocês vão falar com maldade em nome de Deus? Vão falar enganosamente a favor dele?

Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

8 V ão revelar parcialidade por ele? Vão defender a causa a favor de Deus?

Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?

9 T udo iria bem se ele os examinasse? Vocês conseguiriam enganá-lo como podem enganar os homens?

Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?

10 C om certeza ele os repreenderia se, no íntimo, vocês fossem parciais.

He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

11 O esplendor dele não os aterrorizaria? O pavor dele não cairia sobre vocês?

Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?

12 A s máximas que vocês citam são provérbios de cinza; suas defesas não passam de barro.

Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.

13 “ Aquietem-se e deixem-me falar, e aconteça comigo o que acontecer.

Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.

14 P or que me ponho em perigo e tomo a minha vida em minhas mãos?

Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?

15 E mbora ele me mate, ainda assim esperarei nele; certo é que defenderei os meus caminhos diante dele.

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

16 A liás, será essa a minha libertação, pois nenhum ímpio ousaria apresentar-se a ele!

He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

17 E scutem atentamente as minhas palavras; que os seus ouvidos acolham o que eu digo.

Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.

18 A gora que preparei a minha defesa, sei que serei justificado.

Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.

19 H averá quem me acuse? Se houver, ficarei calado e morrerei.

Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.

20 “ Concede-me só estas duas coisas, ó Deus, e não me esconderei de ti:

Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.

21 A fasta de mim a tua mão, e não mais me assustes com os teus terrores.

Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

22 C hama-me, e eu responderei, ou deixa-me falar, e tu responderás.

Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.

23 Q uantos erros e pecados cometi? Mostra-me a minha falta e o meu pecado.

How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.

24 P or que escondes o teu rosto e me consideras teu inimigo?

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?

25 A tormentarás uma folha levada pelo vento? Perseguirás a palha?

Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

26 P ois fazes constar contra mim coisas amargas e me fazes herdar os pecados da minha juventude.

For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

27 A correntas os meus pés e vigias todos os meus caminhos, pondo limites aos meus passos.

Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.

28 “ Assim o homem se consome como coisa podre, como a roupa que a traça vai roendo.

And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
