1 B y the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

Atje, pranë lumenjve të Babilonisë, rrinim ulur dhe qanim, duke kujtuar Sionin;

2 W e hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

mbi shelgjet e kësaj toke kishim varur qestet tona.

3 F or there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

Atje, ata që na kishin çuar në robëri, na kërkonin fjalët e një kënge, po, ata që na shtypnin kërkonin këngë gëzimi, duke thënë: "Na këndoni një këngë të Sionit".

4 H ow shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?

Si mund të këndonim këngët e Zotit në një vend të huaj?

5 I f I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

Në rast se të harroj ty, o Jeruzalem, e harroftë dora ime e djathtë çdo shkathtësi;

6 I f I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

m’u lidhtë gjuha me qiellzën, në rast se nuk të kujtoj ty, në rast se nuk e vë Jeruzalemin përmbi gëzimin tim më të madh.

7 R emember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

Mbaji mënd, o Zot, bijtë e Edomit, që ditën e Jeruzalemit thonin: Shkatërrojini, shkatërrojini që nga themelett".

8 O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.

O bijë e Babilonisë, që duhet të shkatërrohesh, lum ai që do ta lajë të keqen që na ke bërë!

9 H appy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

Lum ai që merr foshnjët e tua dhe i përplas kundër shkëmbit!
