1 ¶ Righteous art thou, O LORD, even though I dispute with thee: even so, I will speak judgments with thee; Why does the way of the wicked prosper? All those that completely rebel against thee have peace.

Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, tôi biện luận cùng Ngài, Ngài thật công bình; dầu vậy, tôi còn muốn biện luận cùng Ngài. Sao đường lối những kẻ ác được thạnh vượng? Sao những người gian trá được yên ổn?

2 T hou hast planted them, and they have taken root: they grow, and they bring forth fruit; thou art near in their mouth and far from their kidneys.

Ngài đã vun trồng họ; họ đã đâm rễ, lớn lên và ra trái. Miệng họ ở gần Ngài, song lòng họ cách xa Ngài.

3 B ut thou, O LORD, dost know me; thou hast seen me and tried my heart toward thee; pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and mark them for the day of slaughter.

Hỡi Giê-hô-va, Ngài biết tôi, thấy tôi, thử xem lòng tôi đối với Ngài thể nào. Xin kéo những người ấy như con chiên bị dắt đến chỗ giết, biệt riêng họ ra cho ngày đánh giết!

4 H ow long shall the land be desolate, and the grass of all the field wither, for the wickedness of those that dwell therein? The cattle are lacking, and the birds, because they said, He shall not see our latter end.

Trong xứ bị sầu thảm, cỏ ngoài đồng khô héo cho đến chừng nào? Vì cớ dân cư hung ác nên loài sinh súc và chim chóc đều bị diệt. Vì chúng nó nói rằng: Người sẽ chẳng thấy sự cuối cùng của chúng ta!

5 I f thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, in which thou didst trust, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

Nếu ngươi chạy thì với kẻ chạy bộ, mà còn mỏi mệt, thì làm sao thi được với ngựa? Khi trong xứ yên lặng, ngươi được an ổn, nhưng khi sông Giô-đanh tràn, thì ngươi sẽ làm thế nào?

6 F or even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee, even they have raised their voice after thee, O congregation; do not believe them, when they speak fair words unto thee.

Chính anh em ngươi và nhà cha ngươi đương phản ngươi, chúng nó cũng kêu tiếng to sau ngươi nữa. Dầu chúng nó nói những lời lành, ngươi chớ nên tin!

7 ¶ I have forsaken my house, I have left my heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.

Ta đã lìa nhà ta; đã bỏ sản nghiệp ta; đã phó dân lòng ta rất yêu mến cho kẻ thù nghịch nó.

8 M y heritage was unto me as a lion in the forest; it cried out against me, therefore I have hated it.

Cơ nghiệp ta đối với ta như sư tử trong rừng, gầm thét nghịch cùng ta; cho nên ta lấy làm ghét.

9 M y heritage is unto me as a speckled bird; the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour her.

Cơ nghiệp ta há như chim kên kên vằn vện kia, các chim ăn thịt há vây lấy nó sao? Hãy đi nhóm các loài thú đồng lại, cho chúng nó cắn nuốt đi!

10 M any pastors have destroyed my vineyard; they have trodden my heritage under foot; they have made my precious heritage a desolate wilderness.

Nhiều kẻ chăn chiên đã phá vườn nho ta, giày đạp sản nghiệp ta dưới chơn, làm cho chỗ đất vui thích của ta thành ra rừng hoang.

11 T hey have made it desolate; it cries against me, desolate; the whole land was made desolate because there was no man that would see.

Người ta đã làm cho đất ấy ra hoang vu; nó bị phá hại, than thở trước mặt ta. Cả xứ đều hoang vu, vì chẳng ai để vào lòng.

12 T he spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land; there is no peace for any flesh.

Những kẻ phá diệt đến trên các gò trọi nơi đồng vắng; vì gươm của Đức Giê-hô-va nuốt đất nầy từ đầu nầy đến đầu kia, chẳng có loài xác thịt nào được bình an.

13 T hey have sown bread, but shall reap thorns; they had the heritage, but they did not profit; and they shall be ashamed because of your fruits, by the fierce anger of the LORD.

Chúng nó đã gieo lúa mình và gặt những gai gốc, khó nhọc mà chẳng được ích gì. Các ngươi sẽ hổ thẹn về hoa trái mình, vì cơn giận phừng phừng của Đức Giê-hô-va!

14 ¶ Thus hath the LORD said against all my evil neighbours that touch the heritage which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.

Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Mọi kẻ lân cận xấu của ta, là kẻ choán lấy sản nghiệp mà ta đã ban cho dân ta, là Y-sơ-ra-ên, làm kỉ vật; nầy, ta sẽ nhổ chúng nó khỏi đất mình, và nhổ nhà Giu-đa ra khỏi giữa chúng nó.

15 A nd it shall come to pass that after I have plucked them out, I will return and have mercy on them, and will cause them to return, each one to his heritage, and each one to his land.

Nhưng, khi ta đã nhổ đi, ta cũng sẽ trở lại thương xót chúng nó; khiến chúng nó ai nấy đều được lại sản nghiệp mình, và ai nấy đều về đất mình.

16 A nd it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear in my name, saying, The LORD lives; as they taught my people to swear by Baal then they shall be prospered in the midst of my people.

Nếu chúng nó siêng năng học tập đường lối dân ta, nhơn danh ta mà thề rằng: Thật như Đức Giê-hô-va hằng sống! cũng như chúng nó đã dạy dân ta chỉ Ba-anh mà thề, bấy giờ chúng nó sẽ được gây dựng giữa dân ta.

17 B ut if they will not hear, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.

Nhưng nếu chúng nó không nghe, ta sẽ nhổ dân tộc đó đi, nhổ đi và làm cho diệt mất, Đức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.
