picture

1 T herefore, my brothers, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.

Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. Be United, Joyful, and in Prayer

2 I exhort Euodia, and I exhort Syntyche, to think the same way in the Lord.

I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.

3 Y es, I beg you also, true partner, help these women, for they labored with me in the Good News, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.

4 R ejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, “Rejoice!”

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

5 L et your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 I n nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

7 A nd the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Meditate on These Things

8 F inally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

9 T he things which you learned, received, heard, and saw in me: do these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippian Generosity

10 B ut I rejoice in the Lord greatly, that now at length you have revived your thought for me; in which you did indeed take thought, but you lacked opportunity.

But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity.

11 N ot that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it.

Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:

12 I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

14 H owever you did well that you shared in my affliction.

Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.

15 Y ou yourselves also know, you Philippians, that in the beginning of the Good News, when I departed from Macedonia, no assembly shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you only.

Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.

16 F or even in Thessalonica you sent once and again to my need.

For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.

17 N ot that I seek for the gift, but I seek for the fruit that increases to your account.

Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.

18 B ut I have all things, and abound. I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you, a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God.

Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.

19 M y God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

20 N ow to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever! Amen.

Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Greeting and Blessing

21 G reet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you.

Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you.

22 A ll the saints greet you, especially those who are of Caesar’s household.

All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household.

23 T he grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
