But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’
15 “ When he had come back again, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
“And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
16 T he first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’
Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’
17 “ He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’

For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’
22 “ He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down, and reaping that which I didn’t sow.
And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow.
23 T hen why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’
Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’
24 H e said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has the ten minas.’
“And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’
25 “ They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’
(But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’)
26 ‘ For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.
‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

31 I f anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”
And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it? ’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’”

saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.
43 F or the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,
