picture

1 T he Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and calls the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

God, Elohim-Jehovah, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

2 O ut of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined forth.

3 O ur God comes and does not keep silence; a fire devours before Him, and round about Him a mighty tempest rages.

Our God will come, and will not keep silence: fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

4 H e calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that He may judge His people:

He will call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people:

5 G ather together to Me My saints, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.

Gather unto me my godly ones, those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice!

6 A nd the heavens declare His righteousness (rightness and justice), for God, He is judge. Selah!

And the heavens shall declare his righteousness; for God executeth judgment himself. Selah.

7 H ear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify to you and against you: I am God, your God.

Hear, my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: I am God, thy God.

8 I do not reprove you for your sacrifices; your burnt offerings are continually before Me.

I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices, or thy burnt-offerings, continually before me;

9 I will accept no bull from your house nor he-goat out of your folds.

I will take no bullock out of thy house, he-goats out of thy folds:

10 F or every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills or upon the mountains where thousands are.

For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle upon a thousand hills;

11 I know and am acquainted with all the birds of the mountains, and the wild animals of the field are Mine and are with Me, in My mind.

I know all the fowl of the mountains, and the roaming creatures of the field are mine:

12 I f I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are Mine.

If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.

13 S hall I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?

Should I eat the flesh of bulls, and drink the blood of goats?

14 O ffer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High,

Offer unto God thanksgiving, and perform thy vows unto the Most High;

15 A nd call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall honor and glorify Me.

And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

16 B ut to the wicked, God says: What right have you to recite My statutes or take My covenant or pledge on your lips,

But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant into thy mouth,

17 S eeing that you hate instruction and correction and cast My words behind you ?

Seeing thou hast hated correction and hast cast my words behind thee?

18 W hen you see a thief, you associate with him, and you have taken part with adulterers.

When thou sawest a thief, thou didst take pleasure in him, and thy portion was with adulterers;

19 Y ou give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.

Thou lettest thy mouth loose to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit;

20 Y ou sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.

Thou sittest speakest against thy brother, thou revilest thine own mother's son:

21 T hese things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was once entirely like you. But I will reprove you and put in order before your eyes.

These hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether as thyself: I will reprove thee, and set in order before thine eyes.

22 N ow consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

Now consider this, ye that forget +God, lest I tear in pieces, and there be no deliverer.

23 H e who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright, to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God.

Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth way will I shew the salvation of God.
