1 W hen Jesus came down from the mountain, great throngs followed Him.
And when he had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
2 A nd behold, a leper came up to Him and, prostrating himself, worshiped Him, saying, Lord, if You are willing, You are able to cleanse me by curing me.
And behold, a leper came up to and did him homage, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou art able to cleanse me.
3 A nd He reached out His hand and touched him, saying, I am willing; be cleansed by being cured. And instantly his leprosy was cured and cleansed.
And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be cleansed. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 A nd Jesus said to him, See that you tell nothing about this to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, for a testimony and as an evidence to the people.
And Jesus says to him, See thou tell no man, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses ordained, for a testimony to them.
5 A s Jesus went into Capernaum, a centurion came up to Him, begging Him,
And when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, beseeching him,
6 A nd saying, Lord, my servant boy is lying at the house paralyzed and distressed with intense pains.
and saying, Lord, my servant lies paralytic in the house, suffering grievously.
7 A nd Jesus said to him, I will come and restore him.
And Jesus says to him, I will come and heal him.
8 B ut the centurion replied to Him, Lord, I am not worthy or fit to have You come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant boy will be cured.
And the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not fit that thou shouldest enter under my roof; but only speak a word, and my servant shall be healed.
9 F or I also am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my slave, Do this, and he does it.
For I also am a man under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say to this, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my bondman, Do this, and he does it.
10 W hen Jesus heard him, He marveled and said to those who followed Him '> who adhered steadfastly to Him, conforming to His example in living and, if need be, in dying also], I tell you truly, I have not found so much faith as this with anyone, even in Israel.
And when Jesus heard it, he wondered, and said to those who followed, Verily I say unto you, Not even in Israel have I found so great faith.
11 I tell you, many will come from east and west, and will sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
But I say unto you, that many shall come from rising and setting, and shall lie down at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens;
12 W hile the sons and heirs of the kingdom will be driven out into the darkness outside, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
13 T hen to the centurion Jesus said, Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed. And the servant boy was restored to health at that very moment.
And Jesus said to the centurion, Go, and as thou hast believed, be it to thee. And his servant was healed in that hour.
14 A nd when Jesus went into Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying ill with a fever.
And when Jesus had come to Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law laid down and in a fever;
15 H e touched her hand and the fever left her; and she got up and began waiting on Him.
and he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and served him.
16 W hen evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick.
And when the evening was come, they brought to him many possessed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were ill;
17 A nd thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took '> in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases.
so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities and bore our diseases.
18 N ow Jesus, when He saw the great throngs around Him, gave orders to cross to the other side.
And Jesus, seeing great crowds around him, commanded to depart to the other side.
19 A nd a scribe came up and said to Him, Master, I will accompany You wherever You go.
And a scribe came up and said to him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou mayest go.
20 A nd Jesus replied to him, Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have lodging places, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.
And Jesus says to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven roosting-places; but the Son of man has not where he may lay his head.
21 A nother of the disciples said to Him, Lord, let me first go and bury '> care for till death] my father.
But another of his disciples said to him, Lord, suffer me first to go away and bury my father.
22 B ut Jesus said to him, Follow Me, and leave the dead '> in sin] to bury their own dead.
But Jesus said to him, Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.
23 A nd after He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.
And he went on board ship and his disciples followed him;
24 A nd suddenly, behold, there arose a violent storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered up by the waves; but He was sleeping.
and behold, became very agitated on the sea, so that the ship was covered by the waves; but he slept.
25 A nd they went and awakened Him, saying, Lord, rescue and preserve us! We are perishing!
And the disciples came and awoke him, saying, Lord save: we perish.
26 A nd He said to them, Why are you timid and afraid, O you of little faith? Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great and wonderful calm ( a perfect peaceableness).
And he says to them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then, having arisen, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27 A nd the men were stunned with bewildered wonder and marveled, saying, What kind of Man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!
But the men were astonished, saying, What sort is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?
28 A nd when He arrived at the other side in the country of the Gadarenes, two men under the control of demons went to meet Him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce and savage that no one was able to pass that way.
And there met him, when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, two possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs, exceeding dangerous, so that no one was able to pass by that way.
29 A nd behold, they shrieked and screamed, What have You to do with us, Jesus, Son of God? Have You come to torment us before the appointed time?
And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? hast thou come here before the time to torment us?
30 N ow at some distance from there a drove of many hogs was grazing.
Now there was, a great way off from them, a herd of many swine feeding;
31 A nd the demons begged Him, If You drive us out, send us into the drove of hogs.
and the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.
32 A nd He said to them, Begone! So they came out and went into the hogs, and behold, the whole drove rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the water.
And he said to them, Go. And they, going out, departed into the herd of swine; and lo, the whole herd rushed down the steep slope into the sea, and died in the waters.
33 T he herdsmen fled and went into the town and reported everything, including what had happened to the men under the power of demons.
But they that fed them fled, and went away into the city and related everything, and what had happened as to those possessed by demons.
34 A nd behold, the whole town went out to meet Jesus; and as soon as they saw Him, they begged Him to depart from their locality.
And behold, the whole city went out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged to go away out of their coasts.
