1 I n the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and besieged it.
And it came to pass when Jerusalem was taken, in the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
2 A nd in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, they broke into the city.
In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth of the month, the city was broken into;
3 ' > When Jerusalem was taken] all the princes of the king of Babylon came in and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim a chief of the eunuchs, and Nergal-sharezer a chief of the magicians, with all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon.

4 A nd when Zedekiah king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, they fled and went forth out of the city at night by way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls, and went out toward the Arabah (the Jordan Valley).
And it came to pass when Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, that they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate between the two walls; and he went out the way of the plain.
5 B ut the Chaldean army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. And when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced sentence upon him.
And the army of the Chaldeans pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and they took him, and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, unto Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he pronounced judgment upon him.
6 T hen the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah at Riblah before his eyes; also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes, and the king of Babylon slaughtered all the nobles of Judah;
7 M oreover, he put out Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him with shackles to take him to Babylon.
and he put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with chains of brass, to carry him to Babylon.
8 A nd the Chaldeans burned the king’s house and the houses of the people and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
And the Chaldeans burned the king's house and the houses of the people with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
9 T hen Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive to Babylon the rest of the people who remained in the city, along with those who deserted to him, and the remainder of the people who were left.
And Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard carried away captive into Babylon the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the deserters that had deserted to him, with the rest of the people that were left.
10 B ut Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left in the land of Judah some of the poor of the people who had nothing, giving them vineyards and fields at the same time.
But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard left of the people, the poor who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
11 N ebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave command concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,
And Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had given charge concerning Jeremiah by Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard, saying,
12 T ake him and look after him well; do him no harm but deal with him as he may ask of you.
Take him, and keep an eye upon him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.
13 S o Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, Nebushasban a chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-sharezer a chief of the magicians, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon
So Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard sent, and Nebushazban, chief chamberlain, and Nergal-sharezer, chief magian, and all the king of Babylon's princes,
14 S ent and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard and entrusted him to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should take him home. So Jeremiah was released and dwelt among the people.
even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should conduct him away home. And he dwelt among the people.
15 N ow the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying,
And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying,
16 G o and say to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring to pass My words against this city for evil and not for good; and they will be accomplished before you on that day.
Go and speak to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good, and they shall come to pass before thy face in that day.
17 B ut I will deliver you on that day, says the Lord, and you will not be given into the hands of the men of whom you are afraid.
And I will deliver thee in that day, saith Jehovah; and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid;
18 F or I will surely deliver you; and you will not fall by the sword, but your life will be as a reward of battle to you, because you have put your trust in Me, says the Lord.
for I will certainly save thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thou shalt have thy life for a prey; for thou hast put thy confidence in me, saith Jehovah.
