picture

1 Y ou shall make for yourselves no idols nor shall you erect a graven image, pillar, or obelisk, nor shall you place any figured stone in your land to which or on which to bow down; for I am the Lord your God.

Ye shall make yourselves no idols, neither rear you up for yourselves carved image, or statue, nor shall ye set up a figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it; for I am Jehovah your God.

2 Y ou shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary. I am the Lord.

Ye shall observe my sabbaths, and my sanctuary shall ye reverence: I am Jehovah.

3 I f you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments and do them,

If ye walk in my statutes, and observe my commandments and do them,

4 I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase and the trees of the field yield their fruit.

then I will give your rain in the season thereof, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit;

5 A nd your threshing shall reach to the vintage and the vintage shall reach to the sowing time, and you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land securely.

and your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing-time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely.

6 I will give peace in the land; you shall lie down and none shall fill you with dread or make you afraid; and I will clear ferocious (wild) beasts out of the land, and no sword shall go through your land.

And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will put away the evil beasts out of the land; and the sword shall not go through your land.

7 A nd you shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.

And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword;

8 F ive of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

and five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; and your enemies shall fall beside you by the sword.

9 F or I will be leaning toward you with favor and regard for you, rendering you fruitful, multiplying you, and establishing and ratifying My covenant with you.

And I will turn my face towards you and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

10 A nd you shall eat the old store of produce long kept, and clear out the old for the new.

And ye shall eat old store, and clear away the old because of the new.

11 I will set My dwelling in and among you, and My soul shall not despise or reject or separate itself from you.

And I will set my habitation among you; and my soul shall not abhor you;

12 A nd I will walk in and with and among you and will be your God, and you shall be My people.

and I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be to me a people.

13 I am the Lord your God, Who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that you should no more be slaves; and I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.

I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you walk upright.

14 B ut if you will not hearken to Me and will not do all these commandments,

But if ye hearken not unto me, and do not all these commandments,

15 A nd if you spurn and despise My statutes, and if your soul despises and rejects My ordinances, so that you will not do all My commandments, but break My covenant,

and if ye shall despise my statutes, and if your soul shall abhor mine ordinances, so that ye do not all my commandments, that ye break my covenant,

16 I will do this: I will appoint over you terror (trembling, trouble), even consumption and fever that consume and waste the eyes and make the life pine away. You shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

I also will do this unto you—I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and fever, which shall cause the eyes to fail, and the soul to waste away; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

17 I will set My face against you and you shall be defeated and slain before your enemies; they who hate you shall rule over you; you shall flee when no one pursues you.

And I will set my face against you, that ye may be routed before your enemies; they that hate you shall have dominion over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

18 A nd if in spite of all this you still will not listen and be obedient to Me, then I will chastise and discipline you seven times more for your sins.

And if for this ye hearken not unto me, I will punish you sevenfold more for your sins,

19 A nd I will break and humble your pride in your power, and I will make your heavens as iron and your earth as brass.

and I will break the arrogance of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as bronze,

20 A nd your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield its increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.

and your strength shall be spent in vain, and your land shall not yield its produce; and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.

21 I f you walk contrary to Me and will not heed Me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you, according to your sins.

And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me, I will bring sevenfold more plagues upon you according to your sins.

22 I will loose the wild beasts of the field among you, which shall rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and make you few so that your roads shall be deserted and desolate.

And I will send the beasts of the field among you, that they may rob you of your children, and cut off your cattle, and make you few in number; and your streets shall be desolate.

23 I f by these means you are not turned to Me but determine to walk contrary to Me,

And if ye will not be disciplined by me through these, but walk contrary unto me,

24 I also will walk contrary to you, and I will smite you seven times for your sins.

then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will smite you, even I, sevenfold for your sins.

25 A nd I will bring a sword upon you that shall execute the vengeance of My covenant; and you shall be gathered together within your cities, and I will send the pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hands of the enemy.

And I will bring a sword upon you that avengeth with the vengeance of the covenant, and ye shall be gathered together into your cities, and I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

26 W hen I break your staff of bread and cut off your supply of food, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall ration your bread and deliver it again by weight; and you shall eat, and not be satisfied.

When I break the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall deliver you the bread again by weight; and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.

27 A nd if in spite of all this you will not listen and give heed to Me but walk contrary to Me,

And if for this ye hearken not to me, but walk contrary unto me,

28 T hen I will walk contrary to you in wrath, and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins.

then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven-fold for your sins.

29 Y ou shall eat the flesh of your sons and of your daughters.

And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

30 A nd I will destroy your high places, and cut down your sun-images, and throw your dead bodies upon the bodies of your idols, and My soul shall abhor you.

And I will lay waste your high places, and cut down your sun-pillars, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols; and my soul shall abhor you.

31 I will lay your cities waste, bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the fragrance of your sweet and soothing odors.

And I will lay waste your cities and desolate your sanctuaries; and I will not smell your sweet odours.

32 A nd I will bring the land into desolation, and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it.

And I will bring the land into desolation; that your enemies who dwell there in may be astonished at it.

33 I will scatter you among the nations and draw out sword after you; and your land shall be desolate and your cities a waste.

And I will scatter you among the nations, and will draw out the sword after you; and your land shall be desolation, and your cities waste.

34 T hen shall the land enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land; then shall the land rest, to enjoy and receive payments for its sabbaths.

Then shall the land enjoy its sabbaths all the days of the desolation, when ye are in your enemies' land; then shall the land rest, and enjoy its sabbaths.

35 A s long as it lies desolate and waste, it shall have rest, the rest it did not have in your sabbaths when you dwelt upon it.

All the days of the desolation it shall rest, which it did not rest on your sabbaths, when ye dwelt therein.

36 A s for those who are left of you, I will send dejection (lack of courage, a faintness) into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a driven leaf shall put them to hasty and tumultuous flight, and they shall flee as if from the sword, and fall when no one pursues them.

And as to those that remain of you—I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, that the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them, and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth;

37 T hey shall stumble over one another as if to escape a sword when no one pursues them; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

and they shall stumble one over another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth; and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

38 Y ou shall perish among the nations; the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

And ye shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

39 A nd those of you who are left shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away like them.

And they that remain of you shall waste away through their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also through the iniquities of their fathers shall they waste away with them.

40 B ut if they confess their own and their fathers’ iniquity in their treachery which they committed against Me—and also that because they walked contrary to Me

And they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, through their unfaithfulness wherein they were unfaithful to me, and also that they have walked contrary unto me,

41 I also walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies—if then their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they then accept the punishment for their iniquity,

so that I also walked contrary unto them, and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity,

42 T hen will I remember My covenant with Jacob, My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham, and remember the land.

I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

43 B ut the land shall be left behind them and shall enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; and they shall accept the punishment for their sins and make amends because they despised and rejected My ordinances and their soul scorned and rejected My statutes.

For the land shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its sabbaths, when it is in desolation without them; and they shall accept the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they despised my judgments, and their soul abhorred my statutes.

44 A nd yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn and cast them away, neither will I despise and abhor them to destroy them utterly and to break My covenant with them, for I am the Lord their God.

And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not despise them, and will not abhor them, to make an end of them utterly, to break my covenant with them, for I am Jehovah their God.

45 B ut I will for their sake remember the covenant with their forefathers whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the Lord.

But I will remember toward them the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations, that I might be their God: I am Jehovah.

46 T hese are the statutes, ordinances, and laws which the Lord made between Him and the Israelites on Mount Sinai through Moses.

These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which Jehovah made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.
