1 V inieron todas las tribus de Israel a David en Hebrón y hablaron, diciendo: Henos aquí, hueso tuyo y carne tuya somos.

Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

2 Y aun antes de ahora, cuando Saúl reinaba sobre nosotros, eras tú quien sacabas a Israel a la guerra, y lo volvías a traer. Además Jehová te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás a mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás príncipe sobre Israel.

In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and Jehovah said to thee, Thou shalt be shepherd of my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.

3 V inieron, pues, todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y el rey David hizo pacto con ellos en Hebrón delante de Jehová; y ungieron a David por rey sobre Israel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah: and they anointed David king over Israel.

4 E ra David de treinta años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cuarenta años.

David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

5 E n Hebrón reinó sobre Judá siete años y seis meses, y en Jerusalén reinó treinta y tres años sobre todo Israel y Judá. David toma la fortaleza de Sion (1 Cr. 11. 4-9)

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6 E ntonces marchó el rey con sus hombres a Jerusalén contra los jebuseos que moraban en aquella tierra; los cuales hablaron a David, diciendo: Tú no entrarás acá, pues aun los ciegos y los cojos te echarán (queriendo decir: David no puede entrar acá).

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither; thinking, David cannot come in hither.

7 P ero David tomó la fortaleza de Sion, la cual es la ciudad de David.

Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.

8 Y dijo David aquel día: Todo el que hiera a los jebuseos, suba por el canal y hiera a los cojos y ciegos aborrecidos del alma de David. Por esto se dijo: Ciego ni cojo no entrará en la casa.

And David said on that day, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and smite the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul. Wherefore they say, There are the blind and the lame; he cannot come into the house.

9 Y David moró en la fortaleza, y le puso por nombre la Ciudad de David; y edificó alrededor desde Milo hacia adentro.

And David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

10 Y David iba adelantando y engrandeciéndose, y Jehová Dios de los ejércitos estaba con él. Hiram envía embajadores a David (1 Cr. 14. 1-2)

And David waxed greater and greater; for Jehovah, the God of hosts, was with him.

11 T ambién Hiram rey de Tiro envió embajadores a David, y madera de cedro, y carpinteros, y canteros para los muros, los cuales edificaron la casa de David.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.

12 Y entendió David que Jehová le había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que había engrandecido su reino por amor de su pueblo Israel. Hijos de David nacidos en Jerusalén (1 Cr. 3. 5-9; 14. 3-7)

And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.

13 Y tomó David más concubinas y mujeres de Jerusalén, después que vino de Hebrón, y le nacieron más hijos e hijas.

And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

14 E stos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

And these are the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 I bhar, Elisúa, Nefeg, Jafía,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 E lisama, Eliada y Elifelet. David derrota a los filisteos (1 Cr. 14. 8-17)

and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.

17 O yendo los filisteos que David había sido ungido por rey sobre Israel, subieron todos los filisteos para buscar a David; y cuando David lo oyó, descendió a la fortaleza.

And when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold.

18 Y vinieron los filisteos, y se extendieron por el valle de Refaim.

Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

19 E ntonces consultó David a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano? Y Jehová respondió a David: Ve, porque ciertamente entregaré a los filisteos en tu mano.

And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Jehovah said unto David, Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into thy hand.

20 Y vino David a Baal-perazim, y allí los venció David, y dijo: Quebrantó Jehová a mis enemigos delante de mí, como corriente impetuosa. Por esto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and he said, Jehovah hath broken mine enemies before me, like the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

21 Y dejaron allí sus ídolos, y David y sus hombres los quemaron.

And they left their images there; and David and his men took them away.

22 Y los filisteos volvieron a venir, y se extendieron en el valle de Refaim.

And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

23 Y consultando David a Jehová, él le respondió: No subas, sino rodéalos, y vendrás a ellos enfrente de las balsameras.

And when David inquired of Jehovah, he said, Thou shalt not go up: make a circuit behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry-trees.

24 Y cuando oigas ruido como de marcha por las copas de las balsameras, entonces te moverás; porque Jehová saldrá delante de ti a herir el campamento de los filisteos.

And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself; for then is Jehovah gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

25 Y David lo hizo así, como Jehová se lo había mandado; e hirió a los filisteos desde Geba hasta llegar a Gezer.

And David did so, as Jehovah commanded him, and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gezer.
