1 و َهَذِهِ هِيَ شَجَرَةُ عائِلَةِ أبْناءِ نُوحَ، سامَ وَحامَ وَيافَثَ. وَقَدْ وُلِدَ لَهُمْ أبْناءٌ بَعْدَ الطُّوفانِ. نسلُ يافَث

And these are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and to them were sons born after the flood.

2 أ بْناءُ يافَثَ هُمْ جُومَرُ وَماجُوجُ وَمادايُ وَياوانُ وَتُوبالُ وَماشِكُ وَتِيراسُ.

The sons of Japheth: Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

3 و َأبْناءُ جُومَرَ هُمْ أشْكَنازُ وَرِيفاثُ وَتُوجَرْمَةُ.

And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

4 و َأبْناءُ ياوانَ هُمْ ألِيشَةُ وَتَرْشِيشُ وَكِتِّيمُ وَدُودانِيمُ.

And the sons of Javan: Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

5 و َمِنْ بَنِي يافَثَ هَؤُلاءِ انْتَشَرَتِ الشُّعُوبُ عَلَى طُولِ سَواحِلِ البَحْرِ، وَكَوَّنَتْ بُلْداناً لَها لُغاتُها، حَسَبَ عَشائِرِها وَشُعُوبِها. نسلُ حام

From these came the distribution of the isles of the nations, according to their lands, every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

6 و َأبْناءُ حامَ هُمْ كُوشُ وَمِصْرايمُ وَفُوطُ وَكَنْعانُ.

And the sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

7 و َأبْناءُ كُوشَ هُمْ سَبا وَحَوِيلَةُ وَسَبْتا وَرَعْما وَسَبَتْكا. وَابْنا رَعْمَةَ هُما شَبا وَدَدانُ.

And the sons of Cush: Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.

8 و َأنجَبَ كُوشُ نِمْرُودَ. وَكانَ نِمْرُودُ أوَّلَ مُحارِبٍ جَبَّارٍ عَلَى الأرْضِ.

And Cush begot Nimrod: he began to be mighty on the earth.

9 و َكانَ صَيّاداً جَبّاراً فِي حَضرَةِ اللهِ. وَلِهَذا يُضْرَبُ فِيهِ المَثَلُ فَيُقالُ: «هَذا كَنِمْرُودَ، صَيّادٌ جَبّارٌ فِي حَضرَةِ اللهِ.»

He was a mighty hunter before Jehovah; therefore it is said, As Nimrod, the mighty hunter before Jehovah!

10 ب َدَأ نِمْرُودُ مَملَكَتَهُ فِي بابِلَ وَأرَكَ وَأكَّدَ وَكَلْنَةَ فِي أرْضِ شِنْعارَ.

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

11 و َمِنْ تِلْكَ الأرْضِ دَخَلَ إلَى أشُّورَ. وَهُناكَ بَنَى نِينَوَى، وَرَحُوبُوتَ عِيرَ، وَكالَحَ،

From that land went out Asshur, and built Nineveh, and Rehoboth-Ir, and Calah,

12 و َرَسَنَ بَينَ نِينَوَى وَكالَحَ. وَكالَحُ هِيَ المَدِينَةُ الكَبِيرَةُ.

and Resen, between Nineveh and Calah: this is the great city.

13 و َأنْجَبَ مِصْرايْمُ بَنِي لُودَ وَبَنِي عَنامَ وَبَنِي لَهابَ وَبَنِي نَفْتُوحَ

—And Mizraim begot the Ludim, and the Anamim, and the Lehabim, and the Naphtuhim,

14 و َبَنِي فَتْرُوسَ وَبَنِي كَسلُوحَ، الَّذِينَ خَرَجَ مِنْهُمُ الفِلِسْطِيُّونَ، وَبَنِي كَفْتُورَ.

and the Pathrusim, and the Casluhim, out of whom came the Philistines, and the Caphtorim.

15 و َأنجَبَ كَنْعانُ ابْنَهُ البِكْرَ صِيدُونَ. وَهُوَ أبُو الحِثِّيِّينَ

—And Canaan begot Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth,

16 و َاليَبُوسِيِّينَ وَالأمُورِيِّينَ وَالجِرْجاشِيِّينَ

and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite,

17 و َالحِوِّيِّينَ وَالعَرْقِيِّينَ وَالسِّينِيِّينَ

and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,

18 و َالأرْوادِيِّينَ وَالصَّمّارِيِّينَ وَالحَماثِيِّينَ. وَانتَشَرَتْ فِيما بَعْدُ عَشائِرُ الكَنْعانِيِّينَ فِي بِلادٍ كَثيرَةٍ.

and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. And afterwards the families of the Canaanites spread themselves abroad.

19 و َامتَدَّتْ أرْضُ الكَنْعانِيِّينَ مِنْ صَيدُونَ، فِي اتِّجاهِ جَرارَ، حَتَّى غَزَّةَ، فِي اتِّجاهِ سَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ وَأدْمَةَ وَصَبُويِيمَ حَتَّى لاشَعَ.

And the border of the Canaanite was from Sidon, as one goes to Gerar, up to Gazah; as one goes to Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, up to Lesha.

20 ك انَتْ هَذِهِ العَشائِرُ مِنْ نَسلِ حامَ. وَكانَتْ لَها لُغاتُها وَأراضِيها وَشُعُوبُها. نسلُ سام

These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, in their nations.

21 س امُ هُوَ الأخُ الأكْبَرُ لِيافَثَ. وَقَدْ أنْجَبَ سامُ أيضاً، وَمِنْ نَسلِهِ جاءَ عابِرُ أبو جَمِيعِ العِبْرانيينَ.

And to Shem—to him also were born; he is the father of all the sons of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder.

22 ف َأبْناءُ سامَ هُمْ عِيلامُ وَأشُّورُ وَأرْفَكْشادُ وَلُودُ وَآرامُ.

The sons of Shem: Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

23 و َأبْناءُ أرامَ هُمْ عُوصُ وَحُولُ وَجاثَرُ وَماشِكُ.

And the sons of Aram: Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.

24 و َأنْجَبَ أرْفَكْشادُ شالَحَ. وَأنْجَبَ شالَحُ عابِرَ.

—And Arphaxad begot Shelah; and Shelah begot Eber.

25 و َوُلِدَ لِعابِرَ ابْنانِ: كانَ اسْمُ أوَّلِهِما فالَجُ لأنَّ الأرْضَ قُسِمَتْ فِي أيّامِهِ. وَكانَ لِفالَجَ أخٌ اسْمُهُ يَقْطانُ.

And to Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.

26 و َأنْجَبَ يَقْطانُ ألْمُودادَ وَشالَفَ وَحَضْرَمَوْتَ وَيارَحَ

And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,

27 و َهَدُورامَ وَأُوزالَ وَدِقلَةَ

and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,

28 و َعُوبالَ وَأبِيمايِلَ وَشَبا

and Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,

29 و َأُوفِيرَ وَحَوِيلَةَ وَيُوبابَ. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ كُلُّهُمْ نَسلَ يَقْطانَ.

and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were sons of Joktan.

30 و َسَكَنُوا فِي الرِّيفِ الشَّرْقِيِّ الجَبَلِيِّ، مِنْ مِيشا فِي اتِّجاهِ سَفارَ.

And their dwelling was from Mesha, as one goes to Sephar, the eastern mountain.

31 ه َؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ سامَ، بِعَشائِرِهِمْ وَلُغاتِهِمْ وَأراضِيهِمْ وَأُمَمِهِمْ.

These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

32 ه َذِهِ هِيَ أنْسابُ عَشائِرِ بَنِي نُوحَ بِحَسَبِ الأُمَمِ الّتِي كَوَّنُوها. وَمِنْ هَذِهِ العَشائِرِ انتَشَرَ البَشَرُ فِي الأرْضِ بَعْدَ الطُّوفانِ.

These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations. And from these came the distribution of the nations on the earth after the flood.
