1 T he Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2 “ The people of Israel will set up their tents, each by his own flag and beside that of their fathers’. They will set up their tents to face the meeting tent on every side.

The children of Israel shall encamp every man by his own standard, with the ensigns of their fathers' houses: over against the tent of meeting shall they encamp round about.

3 T hose who stay in their tents on the east side toward the sunrise will have the flag of Judah by their armies. The leader of the people of Judah is Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

And those that encamp on the east side toward the sunrising shall be they of the standard of the camp of Judah, according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Judah shall be Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

4 T he number of all his army is 74, 600.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.

5 T he family of Issachar will set up their tents next to Judah. The leader of the people of Issachar is Nethanel the son of Zuar.

And those that encamp next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and the prince of the children of Issachar shall be Nethanel the son of Zuar.

6 T he number of his army is 54, 400.

And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

7 T he family of Zebulun will be next. The leader of the people of Zebulun is Eliab the son of Helon.

And the tribe of Zebulun: and the prince of the children of Zebulun shall be Eliab the son of Helon.

8 T he number of his army is 57, 400.

And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

9 T he whole number among the tents of Judah is 186, 400, by their armies. They will be first to move on.

All that were numbered of the camp of Judah were a hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, according to their hosts. They shall set forth first.

10 “ On the south side will be the tents of Reuben by their armies with their flags. The leader of the people of Reuben is Elizur the son of Shedeur.

On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.

11 T he number of his army is 46, 500.

And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

12 T he family of Simeon will set up their tents next to him. The leader of the people of Simeon is Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

And those that encamp next unto him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the prince of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

13 T he number of his army is 59, 300.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

14 T he family of Gad will be next. The leader of the people of Gad is Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

And the tribe of Gad: and the prince of the children of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

15 T he number of his army is 45, 650.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

16 T he whole number among the tents of Reuben is 151, 450 by their armies. They will be second to move on.

All that were numbered of the camp of Reuben were a hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth second.

17 “ Then the meeting tent will go out with the Levites among the people. In the same way that they set up their tents, so they will leave to move on, every man in his place, by his flags.

Then the tent of meeting shall set forward, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place, by their standards.

18 “ On the west side will be the flag of the tents of Ephraim by their armies. The leader of the people of Ephraim is Elishama the son of Ammihud.

On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.

19 T he number of his army is 40, 500.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred.

20 T he family of Manasseh will be next to him. The leader of the people of Manasseh is Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

And next unto him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the prince of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

21 T he number of his army is 32, 200.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

22 T he family of Benjamin will be next. The leader of the people of Benjamin is Abidan the son of Gideoni.

And the tribe of Benjamin: and the prince of the children of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.

23 T he number of his army is 35, 400.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

24 T he whole number among the tents of Ephraim is 108, 100, by their armies. They will be third to move on.

All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were a hundred thousand and eight thousand and a hundred, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth third.

25 “ On the north side will be the flag of the tents of Dan by their armies. The leader of the people of Dan is Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

On the north side shall be the standard of the camp of Dan according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

26 T he number of his army is 62, 700.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.

27 T he family of Asher will set up their tents next to him. The leader of the people of Asher is Pagiel the son of Ochran.

And those that encamp next unto him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the prince of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ochran.

28 T he number of his army is 41, 500.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

29 T he family of Naphtali will be next. The leader of the people of Naphtali is Ahira the son of Enan.

And the tribe of Naphtali: and the prince of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan.

30 T he number of his army is 53, 400.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

31 T he whole number among the tents of Dan is 157, 600. They will be last to move on with their flags.”

All that were numbered of the camp of Dan were a hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred. They shall set forth hindmost by their standards.

32 T hese are the numbers of the men of Israel by their fathers’ houses. The whole number among all the tents, by their armies, was 603, 550.

These are they that were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers' houses: all that were numbered of the camps according to their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

33 B ut the Levites were not numbered with the people of Israel, just as the Lord had told Moses.

But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as Jehovah commanded Moses.

34 S o the people of Israel did all that the Lord had told Moses. They set up their tents by their flags. And they left to move on in the same way, every one by his family and by his father’s house.

Thus did the children of Israel; according to all that Jehovah commanded Moses, so they encamped by their standards, and so they set forward, every one by their families, according to their fathers' houses.
