picture

1 I cried to the Lord in my trouble, and He answered me.

In my distress I cried unto Jehovah, And he answered me.

2 O Lord, save me from lying lips and a false tongue.

Deliver my soul, O Jehovah, from lying lips, And from a deceitful tongue.

3 W hat will be given to you and what more will be done to you, you false tongue?

What shall be given unto thee, and what shall be done more unto thee, Thou deceitful tongue?

4 H e will punish you with sharp arrows of the soldier, and with the hot fire of the broom tree.

Sharp arrows of the mighty, With coals of juniper.

5 I t is bad for me, for I travel in Meshech and live among the tents of Kedar!

Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!

6 I have lived too long with those who hate peace.

My soul hath long had her dwelling With him that hateth peace.

7 I am for peace. But when I speak, they are for war.

I am for peace: But when I speak, they are for war.
