1 O Lord, the God Who saves me, I have cried out before You day and night.

O Jehovah, the God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee.

2 L et my prayer come to You. Listen to my cry.

Let my prayer enter into thy presence; Incline thine ear unto my cry.

3 F or my soul is filled with troubles. And my life comes near the grave.

For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draweth nigh unto Sheol.

4 I am added among those who go down into the deep hole. I am like a man without strength.

I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit; I am as a man that hath no help,

5 I am left among the dead, like those who have been killed and lie in the grave, whom You remember no more. They are cut off from Your help.

Cast off among the dead, Like the slain that lie in the grave, Whom thou rememberest no more, And they are cut off from thy hand.

6 Y ou have put me in the deepest hole, in a dark and deep place.

Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, In dark places, in the deeps.

7 Y our anger has rested upon me. And You have troubled me with all Your waves.

Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, And thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah

8 Y ou have taken my good friends far from me. You have made me hated by them. I am shut in and cannot go out.

Thou hast put mine acquaintance far from me; Thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

9 M y eyes have become weak because of trouble. I have called to You every day, O Lord. I have spread out my hands to You.

Mine eye wasteth away by reason of affliction: I have called daily upon thee, O Jehovah; I have spread forth my hands unto thee.

10 W ill You show Your great works to the dead? Will the dead rise and praise You?

Wilt thou show wonders to the dead? Shall they that are decreased arise and praise thee? Selah

11 W ill Your loving-kindness be told about in the grave, and how faithful You are in the place that destroys?

Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or thy faithfulness in Destruction?

12 W ill Your great works be known in the darkness, and Your right and good works in the land where all is forgotten?

Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? And thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 B ut I have cried to You for help, O Lord. My prayer comes to You in the morning.

But unto thee, O Jehovah, have I cried; And in the morning shall my prayer come before thee.

14 O Lord, why do You turn away from me? Why do You hide Your face from me?

Jehovah, why castest thou off my soul? Why hidest thou thy face from me?

15 I have been troubled and near death since I was young. I have suffered Your punishment. And I cannot win.

I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: While I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

16 Y our burning anger has passed over me. The punishment You have sent destroys me.

Thy fierce wrath is gone over me; Thy terrors have cut me off.

17 T hey gather around me like water all day long. Together they close in upon me.

They came round about me like water all the day long; They compassed me about together.

18 Y ou have taken my friend and loved one far from me. Friends that were near to me are in darkness.

Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, And mine acquaintance into darkness.
