1 L ord, remember David, and all his afflictions:

يا اللهُ ، اذكُرْ داوُدَ وَكُلَّ ما عاناهُ!

2 H ow he sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;

قَطَعَ هَذا الوَعدَ بِقَسَمٍ للهِ القَدِيرِ، إلَهِ إسرائِيلَ:

3 S urely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

«بَيتِي لَنْ أدخُلَهُ، وَعَلَى سَرِيرِي لَنْ أضطَجِعَ.

4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,

عَينايَ لَنْ تَعرِفا نَوماً، وَلا أجفانِي نُعاساً.

5 U ntil I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

إلَى أنْ أجِدَ للهِ مَكاناً، مَسكِناً لِلعَلِيِّ، إلَهِ يَعقُوبَ!»

6 L o, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.

سَمِعنا عَنِ المَسكِنِ فِي أفراتَةَ. وَجَدْنا صُندُوقَ العَهدِ فِي قَرياتِ ياعِيرَ.

7 W e will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.

يَقُولُ النّاسُ: «لِنَذهَبْ إلَى مَسكِنِهِ المُقَدَّسِ! لِنَنْحَنِ عِندَ مَوطِئِ قَدَمَيهِ!»

8 A rise, O Lord, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.

قُمْ يا اللهُ ، أنتَ وَتابُوتُ عَهدِ قُوَّتِكَ وَاسْتَقِرَّ فِي مَكانِ راحَتِكَ الجَدِيدِ!

9 L et thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

لِيَلبَسْ كَهَنَتُكَ الصَّلاحَ كَثِيابٍ، وَلْيَتبَعْهُمْ أتقِياؤُكَ بِالرَّقصِ وَالفَرَحِ!

10 F or thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

مِنْ أجلِ داوُدَ، عَبدِكَ، لا تَرفُضْ طَلَبَ المَلِكِ الَّذِي مَسَحتَهُ.

11 T he Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

أقسَمَ اللهُ لِداوُدَ، وَهُوَ لا يَكذِبُ وَلَنْ يَرْجِعَ عَنْ وَعْدِهِ: «سَأضَعُ نَسلَكَ عَلَى عَرشِكَ،

12 I f thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

إنْ ظَلَّ بَنُوكَ يَحفَظُونَ عَهدِي وَوَصايايَ الَّتِي أُعَلِّمُها. وَنَسلُهُمْ أيضاً، سَيَجلِسُونَ عَلَى العَرشِ إلَى الأبَدِ.»

13 F or the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

هَذا لأنَّ اللهَ اختارَ صِهْيَوْنَ. فَهُناكَ يُرِيدُ مَسكَنَهُ.

14 T his is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

هَذا مَكانُ راحَتِي، مَسكَنِي إلَى الأبَدِ، لانَّنِي اختَرتُهُ.

15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

بِالوَفرَةِ سَأُبارِكُها، وَسَيَكُونُ حَتَّى لِلفُقَراءِ طَعامٌ كَثِيرٌ.

16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

سَأكسُو كَهَنَتَها بِثِيابِ الخَلاصِ، وَبِالفَرَحِ سَيَرقُصُ أتقِياؤُها!

17 T here will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

هُناكَ سَأُعَظِّمُ قُوَّةَ داوُدَ. وَهُناكَ سَأُمَجِّدُ المَلِكِ الَّذِي مَسَحتَهُ.

18 H is enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

سَأُذِلُّ أعداءَهُ، أمّا تاجُ داوُدَ، فَسَأجعَلُهُ يَسطَعُ!
