1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

فِي ضَوْءِ هَذا، أحُثُّكُمْ أنا الِأسِيرُ مِنْ أجلِ الرَّبِّ، أنْ تَسلُكُوا كَما يَلِيقُ بِالدَّعوَةِ الَّتِي تَلَقَّيْتُمُوها مِنَ اللهِ.

2 W ith all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

أظهِرُوا فِي كُلِّ ظَرفٍ تَواضُعاً وَوَداعَةً وَصَبراً، مُحتَمِلِينَ بَعضُكُمْ بَعضاً فِي المَحَبَّةِ.

3 E ndeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

لا تَبخَلُوا بِأيِّ جُهدٍ لِلمُحافَظَةِ عَلَى الوِحدَةِ الَّتِي يَصنَعُها الرُّوحُ بِالسَّلامِ الَّذِي يَربِطُكُمْ مَعاً.

4 T here is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

إذْ يُوجَدُ جَسَدٌ واحِدٌ وَرُوحٌ واحِدٌ، كَما دُعِيتُمْ أيضاً فِي رَجاءٍ واحِدٍ عِندَما دُعِيتُمْ.

5 O ne Lord, one faith, one baptism,

يُوجَدُ رَبٌّ واحِدٌ، وَإيمانٌ واحِدٌ، وَمَعمُودِيَّةٌ واحِدَةٌ.

6 O ne God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

يُوجَدُ إلَهٌ واحِدٌ وَآبٌ واحِدٌ لِلكُلِّ، وَهُوَ سَيِّدُ الكُلِّ، وَيستَخدِمُ الكُلَّ، وَهوَ فِي الكُلِّ.

7 B ut unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

وَقَدْ أُعطِيَتْ لِكُلِّ واحِدٍ مِنّا مَوهِبَةً بِالمِقياسِ الَّذِي يَشاؤُهُ المَسِيحُ.

8 W herefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

لِهَذا يَقُولُ الكِتابُ: «عِندَما صَعِدَ إلَى الأعالِي، سَبَى غَنيمَةً، وَأعطَى النّاسَ عَطايا.»

9 ( Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

فَما الَّذِي يَعنِيهِ الكِتابُ بِقَولِهِ «صَعِدَ»؟ ألا يَعنِي هَذا أيضاً أنَّهُ نَزَلَ إلَى المَناطِقِ الأرْضِيَّةِ السُّفلَى؟

10 H e that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

فَالَّذِي نَزَلَ هُوَ ذاتُهُ الَّذِي صَعِدَ أعلَى مِنْ كُلِّ السَّماواتِ، لِكَيْ يَملأ كُلَّ شَيءٍ.

11 A nd he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

وَهُوَ نَفسُهُ أعطَى بَعضَ المُؤمِنينَ أنْ يَكُونُوا رُسُلاً، وَآخَرِينَ أنبِياءَ، وَآخَرِينَ مُبَشِّرِينَ، وَآخَرِينَ رُعاةً مُعَلِّمِينَ.

12 F or the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

وَقَدْ أعطَى هَذِهِ المَواهِبَ لِكَي يُعِدَّ المُؤمِنِينَ لِعَمَلِ الخِدمَةِ مِنْ أجلِ بِناءِ جَسَدِ المَسِيحِ،

13 T ill we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

إلَى أنْ نَتَوَحَّدَ جَمِيعاً فِي إيمانِنا وَفِي مَعرِفَتِنا بابْنِ اللهِ، وَنَنضُجَ فِي كُلِّ شَيءٍ إلَى أنْ نَصِلَ إلَى شِبهِ المَسِيحِ الكامِلِ.

14 T hat we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

وَإنَّنِي لأرجُو أنْ لا نَكُونَ فِيما بَعْدُ أطفالاً نَنجَرِفُ مَعَ كُلِّ نَوعٍ مِنَ التَّعالِيمِ الَّتِي يَأْتِي بِها أُناسٌ ماكِرونَ، وَنَقَعُ فَرِيسَةً لِمَصائِدِهِمُ المُخادِعَةِ.

15 B ut speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

بَلْ يَنبَغي أنْ نَتَكَلَّمَ بِالحَقِّ فِي المَحَبَّةِ، وَنَنمُو لِنَكُونَ مِثلَ المَسِيحِ فِي كُلِّ شَيءٍ. فَالمَسِيحُ هُوَ الرَّأْسُ.

16 F rom whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

وَالجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ مُعتَمِدٌ عَلَيهِ، وَهُوَ مُتَّصِلٌ بَعضُهُ بِبَعضٍ وَمُتَماسِكٌ بِمَفاصِلَ. وَحِينَ يَقُومُ كُلُّ جُزءٍ بِوَظِيفَتِهِ، فَإنَّ الجَسَدَ كُلُّهُ يَنمُو، وَيَبنِي نَفسَهُ فِي المَحَبَّةِ. السُّلُوكُ المَسِيحِيّ

17 T his I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

أقُولُ لَكُمْ هَذا بِسُلطانِ اسْمِ الرَّبِّ: لا تَسلُكُوا كَما يَسلُكُ غَيرُ المُؤمِنِينَ بِأفكارِهِمُ العَقِيمَةِ.

18 H aving the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

فَأفكارُهُمْ مُظلِمَةٌ، وَهُمْ مُنفَصِلُونَ عَنِ الحَياةِ النّابِعَةِ مِنَ اللهِ بِسَبَبِ جَهلِهِمْ وَعَدَمِ تَجاوُبِهِمْ مَعَ صَوتِهِ.

19 W ho being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

فَقَدُوا إحساسَهُمْ بِالخَجَلِ، وَانجَرَفُوا بِإرادَتِهِمْ وَراءَ الشَّهَواتِ الحِسِّيَّةِ وَمُمارَسَةِ كُلِّ نَجاسَةٍ دُونَ تَحَفُّظٍ.

20 B ut ye have not so learned Christ;

أمّا أنتُمْ فَلَمْ تَتَعَلَّمُوا المَسِيحَ هَكَذا.

21 I f so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُمْ عَنهُ وَتَعَلَّمتُمُ الحَقَّ فِيهِ، كَما هُوَ فِي يَسُوعَ.

22 T hat ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

أمّا بِالنِّسبَةِ لأُسلُوبِ حَياتِكُمُ القَدِيمِ، فَقَدْ عُلِّمتُمْ أنْ تَتَخَلَّصُوا مِنَ الذّاتِ القَدِيمَةِ الَّتِي تُفسِدُها الرَّغَباتُ الخادِعَةُ.

23 A nd be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

وَكَما تَعَلَّمْتُمْ، تَتَجَدَّدُوا فِكراً وَرُوحاً.

24 A nd that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

وَأُوصِيتُمْ بِأنْ تَلبِسُوا الذّاتَ الجَدِيدَةَ المَخلُوقَةَ عَلَى شَبَهِ اللهِ فِي حُبِّها لِلبِرِّ وَالقَداسَةِ، النّابِعَينِ مِنَ الحَقِّ.

25 W herefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

فَتَخَلَّصُوا مِنْ لِسانِ الكَذِبِ! فَعَلَى كُلِّ واحِدٍ أنْ يَكُونَ صادِقاً مَعَ الآخَرِينَ، لِأنَّنا كُلُّنا أعضاءٌ فِي جَسَدٍ واحِدٍ.

26 B e ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

لا تَجعَلُوا غَضَبَكُمْ يَجُرَّكُمْ إلَى الخَطِيَّةِ. وَلا تَنامُوا غاضِبِينَ.

27 N either give place to the devil.

لا تُعطُوا إبلِيسَ مَجالاً.

28 L et him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

لِيَكُفَّ مَنْ يَسرِقُ عَنِ السَّرِقَةِ، بَلْ لِيَتعَبْ وَيَعمَلْ عَمَلاً نافِعاً بِيَدَيْهِ، لِكَي يَكونَ لَديهِ ما يُعطيهِ للآخَرينَ.

29 L et no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

لا تَخرُجْ كَلِماتٌ غَيرُ لائِقَةٍ مِنْ أفواهِكُمْ، بَلْ فَقَطْ ما يَصلُحُ لِبِناءِ الآخَرِينَ، حَسَبَ الحاجَةِ، وَلِفائِدَةِ السّامِعِينَ.

30 A nd grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

وَلا تُواصِلُوا إحزانَ رُوحِ اللهِ القُدُّوسِ، فَهُوَ الَّذِي بِهِ خُتِمتُمْ مَملُوكِينَ للهِ حَتَّى يَومِ الفِداءِ النِّهائِيِّ.

31 L et all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

انزَعُوا مِنْ داخِلِكُمْ كُلَّ مَرارَةٍ وَسَخَطٍ وَغَضَبٍ وَصِياحٍ وَإهانَةٍ وَكُلَّ خُبْثٍ.

32 A nd be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

كُونُوا لُطَفاءَ وَشَفُوقِينَ بَعضُكُمْ نَحوَ بَعضٍ، مُستَعِدِّينَ لِمُسامَحَةِ الآخَرينَ، كَما سامَحَكُمُ اللهُ أيضاً فِي المَسِيحِ.
