1 G o to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

اسْمَعُوا أيُّها الأغنِياءُ. نُوحُوا وَابكُوا بُكاءً شَدِيداً بِسَبَبِ ما سَيَأْتِي عَلَيكُمْ مِنْ مَصائِبَ.

2 Y our riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

ثَروَتُكُمْ قَدْ تَعَفَّنَتْ، وَثِيابُكُمْ أكَلَها السُّوسُ.

3 Y our gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

أتلَفَ الصَّدَأُ ذَهَبَكُمْ وَفِضَّتَكُمْ! وَهَذا الصَّدَأُ سَيَكُونُ دَلِيلَ إدانَتِكُمْ، وَسَيَلتَهِمُ كَالنّارِ أجسادَكُمْ، فَقَدْ خَزَّنتُمْ أموالَكُمْ لِأيّامٍ اقتَرَبَتْ نِهايَتُها.

4 B ehold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

ها هِيَ أُجُورُ العُمّالِ الَّذِينَ حَصَدُوا حُقُولَكُمْ تَصرُخُ ضِدَّكُمْ، لِأنَّكُمْ حَرَمتُمُوهُمْ مِنْ هَذِهِ الأُجُورِ! وَها قَدِ ارتَفَعَ صَوتُ صُراخِ الحَصّادِيْنَ إلَى مَسامِعِ الرَّبِّ القَدِيْرِ.

5 Y e have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

عِشتُمْ حَياةَ تَرَفٍ عَلَى الأرْضِ وَمَتَّعتُمْ أنفُسَكُمْ. سَمَّنتُمْ أنفُسَكُمْ كَحَيواناتٍ لِيَومِ الذَّبحِ.

6 Y e have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

حَكَمتُمْ عَلَى الأبرِياءِ ظُلماً وَقَتَلتُمُوهُمْ، وَهُمْ لَمْ يُقاوِمُوكُمْ. الصَّبر

7 B e patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

فاصبِرُوا أيُّها الإخوَةُ إلَى يَومِ مَجِيءِ الرَّبِّ. وَتَذَكَّرُوا أنَّ الزّارِعَ يَنتَظِرُ نَتاجَ أرْضِهِ الثَّمِينَ. إنَّهُ يَنتَظِرُ بِصَبرٍ سُقُوطَ المَطَرِ المُبَكِّرِ وَالمُتَأخِّرِ عَلَى زَرعِهِ.

8 B e ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

كَذَلِكَ يَنبَغِي أنْ تَنتَظِرُوا أنتُمْ أيضاً بِصَبرٍ. شَدِّدوا قُلُوبَكُمْ، لِأنَّ مَجِيءَ الرَّبِّ قَرِيبٌ.

9 G rudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

أيُّها الإخوَةُ، لا يَتَذَمَّرْ بَعضُكُمْ عَلَى بَعضٍ، لِئَلّا يُدِينَكُمُ اللهُ. هُوذاَ الدَّيّانُ عَلَى البابِ!

10 T ake, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

أيُّها الإخوَةُ، تَذَكَّرُوا الأنبِياءَ الَّذِينَ تَكَلَّمُوا بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ، فَهُمْ مِثالٌ لَنا فِي الصَّبرِ وَفِي تَحَمُّلِ الآلامِ.

11 B ehold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

إنَّنا نَعتَبِرُهُمْ مُبارَكِيْنَ بِسَبَبِ احتِمالِهِمْ. قَدْ سَمِعْتُمْ بِصَبرِ أيُّوبَ، وَتَعلَمُونَ كَيفَ كافَأهُ الرَّبُّ بَعدَ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ، لِأنَّ الرَّبَّ رَحِيمٌ وَمُحِبٌّ. انتَبِهُوا إلَى ما تَقُولُون

12 B ut above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

يا إخْوَتِي، قَبلَ كُلِّ شَيءٍ، لا تَحلِفُوا بِالسَّماءِ وَلا بِالأرْضِ وَلا بِأيِّ شَيءٍ آخَرَ. إنْ أرَدتُمْ أنْ تَقُولُوا «نَعَمْ،» قُولُوا «نَعَمْ.» وَإنْ أرَدتُمْ أنْ تَقُولُوا «لا،» قُولُوا «لا،» لِئَلّا يُدِينَكُمُ اللهُ. قُوَّةُ الصَّلاة

13 I s any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

أيُواجِهُ أحَدُكُمْ صُعُوباتٍ؟ فَلْيُصَلِّ. أبَينَكُمْ مَنْ هُوَ مَسرُورٌ؟ فَلْيُسَبِّحِ الرَّبَّ.

14 I s any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

أبَينَكُمْ مَنْ هُوَ مَرِيضٌ؟ فَلْيَدْعُ شُيُوخَ الكَنِيسَةِ لِكَي يُصَلُّوا مِنْ أجلِهِ وَيَمسَحُوهُ بِالزَّيتِ بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ.

15 A nd the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

فَالصَّلاةُ الَّتِي تُرفَعُ بِإيمانٍ، سَتُشفِي المَرِيضَ، وَيُقِيمُهُ الرَّبُّ مِنْ مَرَضِهِ. وَإنْ كانَ قَدِ ارتَكَبَ خَطايا، يَغفِرُ اللهُ لَهُ.

16 C onfess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

لِذَلِكَ اعتَرِفُوا بَعضُكُمْ لِبَعضٍ بِخَطاياكُمْ، وَصَلُّوا بَعضُكُمْ لِبَعضٍ، لِكَيْ تُشفُوا. إنَّ الصَّلاةَ الَّتِي يَرفَعُها الإنسانُ الَبارُّ قَوِيَّةٌ جِدّاً وَفَعّالَةٌ.

17 E lias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

كانَ إيلِيّا إنساناً مِثلَنا تَماماً. وَقَدْ صَلَّى بِحَرارَةٍ كَيْ لا يَسقُطَ المَطَرُ، فَلَمْ يَسقُطْ مَطَرٌ عَلَى الأرْضِ لِمُدَّةِ ثَلاثِ سَنَواتٍ وَنِصفٍ.

18 A nd he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

ثُمَّ صَلَّى ثانِيَةً، فَسَقَطَ المَطَرُ مِنَ السَّماءِ، وَأخرَجَتِ الأرْضُ أثمارَها. مُساعَدَةُ الضّالّين

19 B rethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

أيُّها الإخوَةُ، إنْ حَدَثَ وَابتَعَدَ أحَدُكُمْ عَنِ الحَقِّ، وَرَدَّهُ شَخصٌ آخَرُ،

20 L et him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

فَلْيَعلَمْ ذَلِكَ الَّذِي رَدَّهُ، أنَّ مَنْ يَرُدُّ خاطِئاً عَنْ طَرِيقِ الضَّلالِ، يُنقِذهُ مِنَ المَوتِ، وَيَكونُ سَبَباً فِي مَغفِرَةِ خَطاياهُ الكَثيرَةِ.
