1 أ مّا الأرْضُ الَّتِي أُعطِيَتْ بِالقُرْعَةِ لِعَشِيرَةِ يَهُوذا بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِها، فَقَدِ امتَدَّتْ جَنُوباً إلَى حُدُودِ أدُومَ إلَى بَرِّيَّةِ صِينَ فِي أقصَى الجَنُوبِ.

Now the lot for the tribe of the sons of Judah according to their families reached the border of Edom, southward to the wilderness of Zin at the extreme south.

2 و َوَصَلَ حَدُّها الجَنُوبِيُّ إلَى الخَلِيجِ فِي طَرَفِ بَحْرِ المِلحِ الَّذِي يَمتَدُّ نَحْوَ الجَنُوبِ.

Their south border was from the lower end of the Salt Sea, from the bay that turns to the south.

3 و َيَمُرُّ الحَدُّ الجَنُوبِيُّ بِجَنُوبِ مَمَرِّ العَقْرَبِ، إلَى صِينَ. ثُمَّ إلَى الجَنُوبِ مِنْ قادَشَ بَرْنِيعَ وَيَدُورُ حَولَ حَصْرُونَ ثُمَّ يَصْعَدُ إلَى أدّارَ، وَيَمْتَدُّ إلَى القَرْقَعِ،

Then it proceeded southward to the ascent of Akrabbim and continued to Zin, then went up by the south of Kadesh-barnea and continued to Hezron, and went up to Addar and turned about to Karka.

4 ث ُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ حَولَ عَصْمُونَ، ثُمَّ إلَى وادِي مِصْرَ، وَيَنْتَهِي عِندَ البَحْرِ. هَذا هوَ حَدُّهُمُ الجَنُوبِيُّ.

It continued to Azmon and proceeded to the brook of Egypt, and the border ended at the sea. This shall be your south border.

5 و َالحَدُّ الشَّرقِيُّ هوَ بَحرُ المِلحِ حَتَّى مَصَبِّ نَهرِ الأُردُنِّ. وَالحَدُّ الشِّمالِيُّ يَمتَدُّ مِنْ خَلِيجِ البَحرِ عِندَ مَصَبِّ نَهرِ الأُردُنِّ،

The east border was the Salt Sea, as far as the mouth of the Jordan. And the border of the north side was from the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan.

6 و َيَصْعَدُ إلَى بَيتِ حُجلَةَ، ثُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ إلَى الشَّمالِ مِنْ بَيتِ العَرَبَةِ. ثُمَّ يَصْعَدُ إلَى حَجَرِ بُوهَنَ بْنِ رَأُوبَيْنَ.

Then the border went up to Beth-hoglah, and continued on the north of Beth-arabah, and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.

7 ث ُمَّ يَصْعَدُ الحَدُّ إلَى دَبِيرَ مِنْ وادِي عَخُورَ، ثُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ نَحوَ الشِّمالِ إلَى الجِلْجالِ مُقابِلَ مَمَرِّ أدُومِّيمَ الَّتِي تَقَعُ إلَى الجَنُوبِ مِنَ الوادِي. ثُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ الحَدُّ حَولَ عَينِ شَمسٍ، وَيَنتَهِي فِي عَينِ رُوجَلَ.

The border went up to Debir from the valley of Achor, and turned northward toward Gilgal which is opposite the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south of the valley; and the border continued to the waters of En-shemesh and it ended at En-rogel.

8 ث ُمَّ يَصْعَدُ الحَدُّ إلَى وادِي بْنِ هِنُّومَ جَنُوبَ مُنحَدَرِ اليَبُوسِيِّينَ، أي مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ. ثُمَّ يَصْعَدُ الحَدُّ إلَى قِمَّةِ الجَبَلِ الواقِعِ إلَى الغَرْبِ مِنْ وادِي هِنُّومَ عِندَ الطَّرَفِ الشِّمالِيِّ لِوادِي رَفائِيمَ.

Then the border went up the valley of Ben-hinnom to the slope of the Jebusite on the south (that is, Jerusalem); and the border went up to the top of the mountain which is before the valley of Hinnom to the west, which is at the end of the valley of Rephaim toward the north.

9 ث ُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ الحَدُّ مِنْ قِمَّةِ الجَبَلِ إلَى النَّبْعِ، إلَى مِياهِ نَفْتُوحَ، ثُمَّ عَبْرَ الوادِي إلَى مُدُنِ جَبَلِ عِفْرُونَ. ثُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ نَحْوَ بَعَلَةَ الَّتِي هِيَ قَرياتُ يَعارِيمَ.

From the top of the mountain the border curved to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah and proceeded to the cities of Mount Ephron, then the border curved to Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).

10 ث ُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ الحَدُّ إلَى الغَرْبِ مِنْ بَعَلَةَ إلَى جَبَلِ سَعِيرَ، ثُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ إلَى المُنحَدَرِ الشِّمالِيِّ لِجَبَلِ يَعارِيمَ، الَّذِي هوَ كَسالُونَ، ثُمَّ يَنزِلُ إلَى بَيتِ شَمسٍ، ثُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ إلَى تِمْنَةَ.

The border turned about from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, and continued to the slope of Mount Jearim on the north (that is, Chesalon), and went down to Beth-shemesh and continued through Timnah.

11 و َيَعبُرُ الحَدُّ الوادِي إلَى المُنْحَدَرِ فِي شِمالِ عِقْرُونَ. ثُمَّ يَمْتَدُّ نَحْوَ شَكْرُونَ، ثُمَّ حَولَ جَبَلِ بَعَلَةَ، ثُمَّ يَعبُرُ الوادِي إلَى يَبْنِئِيلَ. وَيَنتَهِي الحَدُّ عِندَ البَحْرِ.

The border proceeded to the side of Ekron northward. Then the border curved to Shikkeron and continued to Mount Baalah and proceeded to Jabneel, and the border ended at the sea.

12 و َأمّا الحَدُّ الغَربِيُّ فَهوَ البَحرُ وَشاطِئُهُ. هَذا هوَ الحَدُّ المُحِيطُ بَقَبِيلَةِ يَهُوذا بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِا.

The west border was at the Great Sea, even its coastline. This is the border around the sons of Judah according to their families.

13 و َأعطَى يَشُوعُ كالَبَ بْنَ يَفُنَّةَ حِصَّةً مِنَ الأرْضِ وَسَطَ قَبِيلَةِ يَهُوذا بِحَسَبِ أمرِ اللهِ لِيَشُوعَ، فَأعطاهُ قَرياتَ أرْبَعَ، أي حَبْرُونَ. وَأربَعُ هوَ جَدُّ عَناقَ.

Now he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh a portion among the sons of Judah, according to the command of the Lord to Joshua, namely, Kiriath-arba, Arba being the father of Anak (that is, Hebron).

14 و َطَرَدَ كالَبُ مِنْ هُناكَ أبناءَ عَناقَ الثَّلاثَةَ: شِيشايَ وَأخِيمانَ وَتَلْمايَ.

Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the children of Anak.

15 و َصَعِدَ مِنْ هُناكَ لِيُهُاجِمَ سُكّانَ دَبِيرَ. وَكانَ اسْمُ دَبِيرَ سابِقاً قَرْياتَ سِفْرَ.

Then he went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir; now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher.

16 ف َقالَ كالَبُ: «مَنْ يُهاجِمُ قَرياتَ سِفْرَ وَيَستَولِي عَلَيها فَإنِّي سَأُعطِيهِ ابنَتِي عَكْسَةَ زَوجَةً لَهُ.»

And Caleb said, “The one who attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him Achsah my daughter as a wife.”

17 ف َاسْتَولَى عَلَيها عُثْنِيئِيلُ بْنُ قَنازَ أخُو كالَبَ الأصْغَرَ مِنْهُ، فَأعطاهُ كالَبُ ابنَتَهُ عَكْسَةَ زَوجَةً لَهُ.

Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it; so he gave him Achsah his daughter as a wife.

18 و َلَمّا جاءَتْ إلَى عُثْنِيئِيلَ، حَثَّها عَلَى أنْ تَطلَبَ حَقلاً مِنْ أبِيها. فَلَمّا نَزَلَتْ مِنَ عَلَى الحِمارِ، قالَ لَها كالَبُ: «ما الأمْرُ؟»

It came about that when she came to him, she persuaded him to ask her father for a field. So she alighted from the donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you want?”

19 ف َقالَتْ لَهُ: «أعطِنِي بَرَكَةً. قَدْ أعطَيتَنِي أرْضاً جافَّةً فِي النَّقَبِ، فَأعطِنِي بِرَكَ ماءٍ أيضاً.» فَأعطاها البِرَكَ العُلْيا وَالسُّفلَى.

Then she said, “Give me a blessing; since you have given me the land of the Negev, give me also springs of water.” So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

20 ه َذا هوَ مِيراثُ قَبِيلَةِ يَهُوذا بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Judah according to their families.

21 و َهَذِهِ هِيَ جَمِيعُ المُدُنِ الَّتِي لِعَشِيرَةِ يَهُوذا قُرْبَ حُدُودِ أدُومَ فِي الجَنُوبِ: قَبْصِئِيلُ وَعِيدَرُ وَياجُورُ

Now the cities at the extremity of the tribe of the sons of Judah toward the border of Edom in the south were Kabzeel and Eder and Jagur,

22 و َقَيْنَةُ وَدِيمُونَةُ وَعَدْعَدَةُ

and Kinah and Dimonah and Adadah,

23 و َقادَشُ وَحاصُورُ وَيِثْنانُ

and Kedesh and Hazor and Ithnan,

24 و َزِيفُ وَطالَمُ وَبَعلُوتُ

Ziph and Telem and Bealoth,

25 و َحاصُورُ وَحَدَتَّةُ وَقَرْيُوتُ وَحَصْرُونُ – الَّتِي هِيَ حاصُورُ –

and Hazor-hadattah and Kerioth-hezron (that is, Hazor),

26 و َأمامُ وَشَماعُ وَمُولادَةُ

Amam and Shema and Moladah,

27 و َحَصَرُ جَدَّةَ وَحَشْمُونُ وَبَيتُ فالَطَ

and Hazar-gaddah and Heshmon and Beth-pelet,

28 و َحَصَرُ شُوعالَ وَبِئْرُ سَبْعٍ وَبِزْيُوتِيَّةُ

and Hazar-shual and Beersheba and Biziothiah,

29 و َبَعَلَةُ وَعِيِّيمُ وَعاصَمُ

Baalah and Iim and Ezem,

30 و َألْتُولَدُ وَكِسِيلُ وَحُرْمَةُ

and Eltolad and Chesil and Hormah,

31 و َصِقلَغُ وَمَدْمَنَّةُ وَسَنْسَنَّةُ

and Ziklag and Madmannah and Sansannah,

32 و َلَبَوُتُ وَشِلْحِيمُ وَعَينُ وَرِمُّونَ. وَمَجمُوعُ عَدَدِ المُدُنِ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ مَعَ قُراها.

and Lebaoth and Shilhim and Ain and Rimmon; in all, twenty-nine cities with their villages.

33 و َفِي التِّلالِ الغَربِيَّةِ: أشْتَأُولُ وَصَرْعَةُ وَأشْنَةُ

In the lowland: Eshtaol and Zorah and Ashnah,

34 و َزانُوحُ وَعَينُ جِنِّيمَ وَتَفُّوحُ وَعَينامُ

and Zanoah and En-gannim, Tappuah and Enam,

35 و َيَرْمُوتُ وَعَدُلّامُ وَسُوكُوهُ وَعَزِيقَةُ

Jarmuth and Adullam, Socoh and Azekah,

36 و َشَعْرايِمُ وَعَدِيتايِمُ وَالجُدَيرَةُ وَجُدَيرُوَتايِمُ. وَمَجْمُوعُها أربَعَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً.

and Shaaraim and Adithaim and Gederah and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages.

37 و َصَنانُ وَحَداشَةُ وَمَجْدَلُ جادَ

Zenan and Hadashah and Migdal-gad,

38 و َدِلْعانُ وَالمِصْفاةُ وَيَقْتِئِيلُ

and Dilean and Mizpeh and Joktheel,

39 و َلَخِيشُ وَبَصْقَةُ وَعَجلُونُ،

Lachish and Bozkath and Eglon,

40 و َكَبُّونُ وَلَحْماسُ وَكِتلِيشُ

and Cabbon and Lahmas and Chitlish,

41 و َجُدَيرُوتُ وَبَيتُ داجُونَ وَنَعَمَةُ وَمَقِّيدَةُ. وَمَجمُوعُها سِتَّ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مَعَ قُراها.

and Gederoth, Beth-dagon and Naamah and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages.

42 و َلِبْنَةُ وَعاتَرُ وَعاشانُ.

Libnah and Ether and Ashan,

43 و َيَفْتاحُ وَأشْنَةُ وَنَصِيبُ،

and Iphtah and Ashnah and Nezib,

44 و َقَعِيلَةُ وَأكْزِيبُ وَمَرِيشَةُ. وَمَجْمُوعُها تِسعُ مُدُنٍ مَعَ قُراها.

and Keilah and Achzib and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages.

45 و َعَقْرُونُ وَما يُحِيطُ بِها مِنْ بَلْداتٍ وَقُرَى.

Ekron, with its towns and its villages;

46 و َإلَى الغَربِ مِنْ عَقْرُونَ، كُلُّ المُدُنِ القَرِيبَةِ مِنْ أشْدُودَ وَقُراها.

from Ekron even to the sea, all that were by the side of Ashdod, with their villages.

47 و َأشْدُودُ وَما يُحِيطُ بِها مِنْ مُدُنٍ وَقُرَى. وَغَزَّةُ وَما يُحِيطُ بِها مِنْ مُدُنٍ وَقُرِى، إلَى وادِي مِصْرَ وَساحِلِ البَحْرِ.

Ashdod, its towns and its villages; Gaza, its towns and its villages; as far as the brook of Egypt and the Great Sea, even its coastline.

48 و َفِي المَناطِقِ الجَبَلِيَّةِ: شامِيرُ وَيَتِّيرُ وَسُوكُوهُ

In the hill country: Shamir and Jattir and Socoh,

49 و َدَنَّةُ وَقَريَةُ سَنَّةَ الَّتِي هِيَ دَبِيرُ،

and Dannah and Kiriath-sannah (that is, Debir),

50 و َعَنابُ وَأشْتِمُوهُ وَعانِيمُ

and Anab and Eshtemoh and Anim,

51 و َجُوشَنُ وَحُولُونُ وَجِيلُوهُ. وَمَجمُوعُها إحدَى عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مَعَ قُراها.

and Goshen and Holon and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages.

52 أ رابُ وَدُومَةُ وَأشْعانُ

Arab and Dumah and Eshan,

53 و َيَنِيمُ وَبَيتُ تَفُّوحَ وَأفِيقَةُ

and Janum and Beth-tappuah and Aphekah,

54 و َحُمْطَةُ وَقَرْياتُ أرْبَعَ – الَّتِي هِيَ حَبْرُونُ – وَصِيعُورُ. وَمَجمُوعُها تِسعُ مُدُنٍ مَعَ قُراها.

and Humtah and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), and Zior; nine cities with their villages.

55 و َمَعُونُ وَكَرْمَلُ وَزِيفُ وَيُوطَةُ

Maon, Carmel and Ziph and Juttah,

56 و َيَزْرَعِيلُ وَيَقْدَعامُ وَزانُوحُ

and Jezreel and Jokdeam and Zanoah,

57 و َقايِنُ وَجِبْعَةُ وَتِمْنَةُ. وَمَجمُوعُها عَشْرُ مُدُنٍ مَعَ قُراها.

Kain, Gibeah and Timnah; ten cities with their villages.

58 ح َلْحُولُ وَبَيتُ صُورٍ وَجَدُورُ

Halhul, Beth-zur and Gedor,

59 و َمَعارَةُ وَبَيتُ عَنُوتَ وَألْتَقُونُ. وَمَجمُوعُها سِتُّ مُدُنٍ مَعَ قُراها.

and Maarath and Beth-anoth and Eltekon; six cities with their villages.

60 و َقَرياتُ بَعلَ الَّتِي هِيَ قَرْياتُ يَعارِيمَ وَالرَّبَّةَ. وَهُما مَدِينَتانِ مَعَ قُراهُما.

Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), and Rabbah; two cities with their villages.

61 و َفِي البَرِّيَّةِ: بَيتُ العَرَبَةِ وَمِدِّينُ وَسَكاكَةُ

In the wilderness: Beth-arabah, Middin and Secacah,

62 و َنِبْشانُ وَمَدِينَةُ المِلْحِ وَعَينُ جَدْيٍ. وَمَجمُوعُها سِتُّ مُدُنٍ مَعَ قُراها.

and Nibshan and the City of Salt and Engedi; six cities with their villages.

63 و َلَكِنَّ شَعبَ يَهُوذا لَمْ يَستَطِعْ أنْ يَطرُدَ اليَبُوسِيِّينَ السّاكِنِينَ فِي مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ. لِذا يَعِيشُ اليَبُوسِيُّونَ وَسَطَ شَعبِ يَهُوذا إلَى هَذا اليَومِ.

Now as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah could not drive them out; so the Jebusites live with the sons of Judah at Jerusalem until this day.
