1 O Lord, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You!

Yahweh, I have called on you. Come to me quickly! Listen to my voice when I call to you.

2 M ay my prayer be counted as incense before You; The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.

Let my prayer be set before you like incense; the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice.

3 S et a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.

4 D o not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.

Don’t incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity. Don’t let me eat of their delicacies.

5 L et the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it, For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds.

Let the righteous strike me, it is kindness; let him reprove me, it is like oil on the head; don’t let my head refuse it; Yet my prayer is always against evil deeds.

6 T heir judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock, And they hear my words, for they are pleasant.

Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock. They will hear my words, for they are well spoken.

7 A s when one plows and breaks open the earth, Our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

“As when one plows and breaks up the earth, our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol.”

8 F or my eyes are toward You, O God, the Lord; In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless.

For my eyes are on you, Yahweh, the Lord. In you, I take refuge. Don’t leave my soul destitute.

9 K eep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me, And from the snares of those who do iniquity.

Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, from the traps of the workers of iniquity.

10 L et the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely.

Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, while I pass by.
