1 T hen Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the sons of Israel, saying, “This is the word which the Lord has commanded.

Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded.

2 I f a man makes a vow to the Lord, or takes an oath to bind himself with a binding obligation, he shall not violate his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

When a man vows a vow to Yahweh, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

3 Also if a woman makes a vow to the Lord, and binds herself by an obligation in her father’s house in her youth,

“Also when a woman vows a vow to Yahweh, and binds herself by a bond, being in her father’s house, in her youth,

4 a nd her father hears her vow and her obligation by which she has bound herself, and her father says nothing to her, then all her vows shall stand and every obligation by which she has bound herself shall stand.

and her father hears her vow, and her bond with which she has bound her soul, and her father holds his peace at her; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond with which she has bound her soul shall stand.

5 B ut if her father should forbid her on the day he hears of it, none of her vows or her obligations by which she has bound herself shall stand; and the Lord will forgive her because her father had forbidden her.

But if her father forbids her in the day that he hears, none of her vows, or of her bonds with which she has bound her soul, shall stand. Yahweh will forgive her, because her father has forbidden her.

6 However, if she should marry while under her vows or the rash statement of her lips by which she has bound herself,

“If she has a husband, while her vows are on her, or the rash utterance of her lips, with which she has bound her soul,

7 a nd her husband hears of it and says nothing to her on the day he hears it, then her vows shall stand and her obligations by which she has bound herself shall stand.

and her husband hears it, and hold his peace at her in the day that he hears it; then her vows shall stand, and her bonds with which she has bound her soul shall stand.

8 B ut if on the day her husband hears of it, he forbids her, then he shall annul her vow which she is under and the rash statement of her lips by which she has bound herself; and the Lord will forgive her.

But if her husband forbids her in the day that he hears it, then he shall make void her vow which is on her, and the rash utterance of her lips, with which she has bound her soul. Yahweh will forgive her.

9 But the vow of a widow or of a divorced woman, everything by which she has bound herself, shall stand against her.

“But the vow of a widow, or of her who is divorced, everything with which she has bound her soul, shall stand against her.

10 H owever, if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound herself by an obligation with an oath,

“If she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath,

11 a nd her husband heard it, but said nothing to her and did not forbid her, then all her vows shall stand and every obligation by which she bound herself shall stand.

and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and didn’t disallow her; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond with which she bound her soul shall stand.

12 B ut if her husband indeed annuls them on the day he hears them, then whatever proceeds out of her lips concerning her vows or concerning the obligation of herself shall not stand; her husband has annulled them, and the Lord will forgive her.

But if her husband made them null and void in the day that he heard them, then whatever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand. Her husband has made them void. Yahweh will forgive her.

13 Every vow and every binding oath to humble herself, her husband may confirm it or her husband may annul it.

Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void.

14 B ut if her husband indeed says nothing to her from day to day, then he confirms all her vows or all her obligations which are on her; he has confirmed them, because he said nothing to her on the day he heard them.

But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day, then he establishes all her vows, or all her bonds, which are on her. He has established them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.

15 B ut if he indeed annuls them after he has heard them, then he shall bear her guilt.”

But if he shall make them null and void after that he has heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity.”

16 T hese are the statutes which the Lord commanded Moses, as between a man and his wife, and as between a father and his daughter, while she is in her youth in her father’s house.

These are the statutes which Yahweh commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between a father and his daughter, being in her youth, in her father’s house.
