1 M asters, give to your servants that which is just and equal, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

Ihr Herren, was recht und billig ist, das beweiset den Knechten, und wisset, daß ihr auch einen HERRN im Himmel habt.

2 C ontinue steadfastly in prayer, watching therein with thanksgiving;

Haltet an am Gebet und wachet in demselben mit Danksagung;

3 p raying together for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds;

und betet zugleich auch für uns, auf daß Gott uns eine Tür des Wortes auftue, zu reden das Geheimnis Christi, darum ich auch gebunden bin,

4 t hat I may reveal it as I ought to speak.

auf daß ich es offenbare, wie ich soll reden.

5 W alk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.

Wandelt weise gegen die, die draußen sind, und kauft die Zeit aus.

6 L et your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Eure Rede sei allezeit lieblich und mit Salz gewürzt, daß ihr wißt, wie ihr einem jeglichen antworten sollt.

7 A ll my affairs will be made known to you by Tychicus, the beloved brother, faithful servant, and fellow bondservant in the Lord.

Wie es um mich steht, wird euch alles kundtun Tychikus, der liebe Bruder und getreue Diener und Mitknecht in dem HERRN,

8 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that he may know your circumstances and comfort your hearts,

welchen ich habe darum zu euch gesandt, daß er erfahre, wie es sich mit euch verhält, und daß er eure Herzen ermahne,

9 t ogether with Onesimus, the faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will make known to you everything that is going on here.

samt Onesimus, dem getreuen und lieben Bruder, welcher von den euren ist. Alles, wie es hier steht, werden sie euch kundtun.

10 A ristarchus, my fellow prisoner, greets you, and Mark, the cousin of Barnabas (concerning whom you received commandments, “if he comes to you, receive him”),

Es grüßt euch Aristarchus, mein Mitgefangener, und Markus, der Neffe des Barnabas, über welchen ihr etliche Befehle empfangen habt (so er zu euch kommt, nehmt ihn auf!)

11 a nd Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for God’s Kingdom who are of the circumcision, men who have been a comfort to me.

und Jesus, der da heißt Just, die aus den Juden sind. Diese sind allein meine Gehilfen am Reich Gottes, die mir ein Trost geworden sind.

12 E paphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, salutes you, always striving for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

Es grüßt euch Epaphras, der von den euren ist, ein Knecht Christi, und allezeit ringt für euch mit Gebeten, auf daß ihr bestehet vollkommen und erfüllt mit allem Willen Gottes.

13 F or I testify about him, that he has great zeal for you, and for those in Laodicea, and for those in Hierapolis.

Ich gebe ihm Zeugnis, daß er großen Fleiß hat um euch und um die zu Laodizea und zu Hierapolis.

14 L uke, the beloved physician, and Demas greet you.

Es grüßt euch Lukas, der Arzt, der Geliebte, und Demas.

15 G reet the brothers who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the assembly that is in his house.

Grüßet die Brüder zu Laodizea und den Nymphas und die Gemeinde in seinem Hause.

16 W hen this letter has been read among you, cause it to be read also in the assembly of the Laodiceans; and that you also read the letter from Laodicea.

Und wenn der Brief bei euch gelesen ist, so schafft, daß er auch in der Gemeinde zu Laodizea gelesen werde und daß ihr den von Laodizea lest.

17 T ell Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you fulfill it.”

Und saget Archippus: Siehe auf das Amt, das du empfangen hast in dem HERRN, daß du es ausrichtest!

18 T he salutation of me, Paul, with my own hand: remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen.

Mein Gruß mit meiner, des Paulus, Hand. Gedenket meiner Bande! Die Gnade sei mit euch! Amen.
