Hebrews 2 ~ Hebrews 2

1 F or this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.

For this reason we should give heed more abundantly to the things heard, lest in any way we should slip away.

2 F or if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,

For if the word which was spoken by angels was firm, and every transgression and disobedience received just retribution,

3 h ow will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,

how shall we escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation, which, having had its commencement in being spoken by the Lord, has been confirmed to us by those who have heard;

4 G od also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will. Earth Subject to Man

God bearing, besides, witness with to, both by signs and wonders, and various acts of power, and distributions of Holy Spirit, according to his will?

5 F or He did not subject to angels the world to come, concerning which we are speaking.

For he has not subjected to angels the habitable world which is to come, of which we speak;

6 B ut one has testified somewhere, saying, “ What is man, that You remember him ? Or the son of man, that You are concerned about him ?

but one has testified somewhere, saying, What is man, that thou rememberest him, or son of man that thou visitest him?

7 You have made him for a little while lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And have appointed him over the works of Your hands;

Thou hast made him some little inferior to the angels; thou hast crowned him with glory and honour,

8 Y ou have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him. Jesus Briefly Humbled

thou hast subjected all things under his feet. For in subjecting all things to him, he has left nothing unsubject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to him,

9 B ut we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.

but we see Jesus, who made some little inferior to angels on account of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; so that by the grace of God he should taste death for every thing.

10 F or it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.

For it became him, for whom all things, and by whom all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make perfect the leader of their salvation through sufferings.

11 F or both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,

For both he that sanctifies and those sanctified all of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 s aying, “ I will proclaim Your name to My brethren, In the midst of the congregation I will sing Your praise.”

saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren; in midst of assembly will I sing thy praises.

13 A nd again, “ I will put My trust in Him.” And again, “ Behold, I and the children whom God has given Me.”

And again, I will trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children which God has given me.

14 T herefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

Since therefore the children partake of blood and flesh, he also, in like manner, took part in the same, that through death he might annul him who has the might of death, that is, the devil;

15 a nd might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.

and might set free all those who through fear of death through the whole of their life were subject to bondage.

16 F or assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham.

For he does not indeed take hold of angels, but he takes hold of the seed of Abraham.

17 T herefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Wherefore it behoved him in all things to be made like to brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people;

18 F or since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

for, in that himself has suffered, being tempted, he is able to help those that are being tempted.
