1 N ow when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house.

And when Solomon had ended praying, the fire came down from the heavens and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of Jehovah filled the house.

2 T he priests could not enter into the house of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord’s house.

And the priests could not enter into the house of Jehovah, because the glory of Jehovah filled Jehovah's house.

3 A ll the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down and the glory of the Lord upon the house, bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave praise to the Lord, saying, “ Truly He is good, truly His lovingkindness is everlasting.” Sacrifices Offered

And all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of Jehovah upon the house, and bowed themselves with their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshipped and thanked Jehovah: For he is good, for his loving-kindness for ever.

4 T hen the king and all the people offered sacrifice before the Lord.

And the king and all the people offered sacrifices before Jehovah.

5 K ing Solomon offered a sacrifice of 22, 000 oxen and 120, 000 sheep. Thus the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

And king Solomon sacrificed a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

6 T he priests stood at their posts, and the Levites also, with the instruments of music to the Lord, which King David had made for giving praise to the Lord —“for His lovingkindness is everlasting”—whenever he gave praise by their means, while the priests on the other side blew trumpets; and all Israel was standing.

And the priests stood in their charges, and the Levites with Jehovah's instruments of music, which David the king had made to praise Jehovah, for his loving-kindness for ever, when David praised by their means; and the priests sounded the trumpets opposite to them, and all Israel stood.

7 T hen Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord, for there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to contain the burnt offering, the grain offering and the fat. The Feast of Dedication

And Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt-offerings and the oblations and the fat.

8 S o Solomon observed the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly who came from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt.

And at that time Solomon held the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entrance of Hamath unto the torrent of Egypt.

9 O n the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, for the dedication of the altar they observed seven days and the feast seven days.

And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly; for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

10 T hen on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their tents, rejoicing and happy of heart because of the goodness that the Lord had shown to David and to Solomon and to His people Israel. God’s Promise and Warning

And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that Jehovah had done to David and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

11 T hus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king’s palace, and successfully completed all that he had planned on doing in the house of the Lord and in his palace.

And Solomon completed the house of Jehovah, and the king's house; and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of Jehovah, and in his own house, he did prosperously.

12 T hen the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.

Then Jehovah appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: I have heard thy prayer, and I have chosen for myself this place for a house of sacrifice.

13 I f I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people,

If I shut up the heavens that there be no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

14 a nd My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

and my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from the heavens, and forgive their sin, and heal their land.

15 N ow My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.

Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attentive to the prayer in this place;

16 F or now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name may be there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.

for I have now chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

17 A s for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, even to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep My statutes and My ordinances,

And thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;

18 t hen I will establish your royal throne as I covenanted with your father David, saying, ‘ You shall not lack a man to be ruler in Israel.’

then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to rule over Israel.

19 But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,

But if ye turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them;

20 t hen I will uproot you from My land which I have given you, and this house which I have consecrated for My name I will cast out of My sight and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed to my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

21 A s for this house, which was exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘ Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’

And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passes by it; so that he shall say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land and to this house?

22 A nd they will say, ‘Because they forsook the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them from the land of Egypt, and they adopted other gods and worshiped them and served them; therefore He has brought all this adversity on them.’”

And they shall say, Because they forsook Jehovah the God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and have attached themselves to other gods, and have worshipped them and served them; therefore he has brought upon them all this evil.
