1 H ow blessed is he who considers the helpless; The Lord will deliver him in a day of trouble.

Blessed is he that understandeth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil.

2 T he Lord will protect him and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies.

Jehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive; he shall be made happy in the land; and thou wilt not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

3 T he Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed; In his illness, You restore him to health.

Jehovah will sustain him upon the bed of languishing: thou turnest all his bed in his sickness.

4 A s for me, I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”

As for me, I said, Jehovah, be gracious unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

5 M y enemies speak evil against me, “When will he die, and his name perish?”

Mine enemies wish me evil: When will he die, and his name perish?

6 A nd when he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood; His heart gathers wickedness to itself; When he goes outside, he tells it.

And if one come to see, he speaketh falsehood; his heart gathereth wickedness to itself: he goeth abroad, he telleth.

7 A ll who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt, saying,

All that hate me whisper together against me; against me do they devise my hurt.

8 A wicked thing is poured out upon him, That when he lies down, he will not rise up again.”

A thing of Belial cleaveth fast unto him; and now that he is laid down, he will rise up no more.

9 E ven my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I confided, who did eat of my bread, hath lifted up heel against me.

10 B ut You, O Lord, be gracious to me and raise me up, That I may repay them.

But thou, Jehovah, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 B y this I know that You are pleased with me, Because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.

By this I know that thou delightest in me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 A s for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And You set me in Your presence forever.

But as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

13 B lessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, From everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.

Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, from eternity to eternity! Amen, and Amen.
