1 O Lord, remember David and all of his suffering.

Remember, O Lord, on David’s behalf, All his affliction;

2 R emember how he swore to the Lord, and how he made a promise to the Powerful One of Jacob:

How he swore to the Lord And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,

3 For sure I will not go into my house or lie on my bed,

“Surely I will not enter my house, Nor lie on my bed;

4 o r let sleep come and close my eyes,

I will not give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids,

5 u ntil I find a place for the Lord, a house of worship for the Powerful One of Jacob.”

Until I find a place for the Lord, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

6 S ee, we heard about it in Ephrathah. We found it in the field of Jaar.

Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah, We found it in the field of Jaar.

7 L et us go into the House of God. Let us worship at His feet.

Let us go into His dwelling place; Let us worship at His footstool.

8 R ise up, O Lord. Go to the place where You can rest, You and the special box of the Way of Worship which is Your strength.

Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.

9 L et Your religious leaders be dressed with what is right and good. And let those who belong to You sing for joy.

Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, And let Your godly ones sing for joy.

10 B ecause of David Your servant, do not turn away from Your chosen one.

For the sake of David Your servant, Do not turn away the face of Your anointed.

11 T he Lord has made a sure promise to David that He will never break: “I will set upon your throne your own children.

The Lord has sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: “ Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.

12 I f your sons will keep My Law and My Word which I will teach them, then their sons will sit upon your throne forever.”

“If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I will teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever.”

13 F or the Lord has chosen Zion. He has wanted it for a place to live:

For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation.

14 This is the place where I can rest forever. Here I will live, for I have wanted it.

“This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

15 I will give her many good things. I will give her poor people much bread.

“I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her needy with bread.

16 I will dress her religious leaders with saving power. And those in her that belong to Me will sing for joy.

“Her priests also I will clothe with salvation, And her godly ones will sing aloud for joy.

17 T here I will make the horn of David grow and will make a lamp ready for My chosen one.

“There I will cause the horn of David to spring forth; I have prepared a lamp for Mine anointed.

18 I will dress those who hate him with shame. But the crown on him will shine.”

“His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon himself his crown shall shine.”
