1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains. Where will my help come from?

2 M y help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

3 H e will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

He will not let your feet go out from under you. He Who watches over you will not sleep.

4 B ehold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

Listen, He Who watches over Israel will not close his eyes or sleep.

5 T he Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

The Lord watches over you. The Lord is your safe cover at your right hand.

6 T he sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

The sun will not hurt you during the day and the moon will not hurt you during the night.

7 T he Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

The Lord will keep you from all that is sinful. He will watch over your soul.

8 T he Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

The Lord will watch over your coming and going, now and forever.
