1 T his is what you shall do to consecrate (set them apart) that they may serve Me as priests. Take one young bull and two rams, all without blemish,
“This is what you will do to set them apart to serve as religious leaders for Me. Take one young bull and two rams that are perfect.
2 A nd unleavened bread and unleavened cakes mixed with oil and unleavened wafers spread with oil; of fine flour shall you make them.
Have bread without yeast, and bread mixed with oil, and hard bread made without yeast and spread with oil. Make them of fine grain flour.
3 Y ou shall put them in one basket and bring them in, and bring also the bull and the two rams;
Put them in one basket. Then bring them in the basket with the bull and the two rams.
4 A nd bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting and wash them with water.
Bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the meeting tent, and wash them with water.
5 T hen take the garments and put on Aaron the long and sleeved tunic and the robe of the ephod and the ephod and the breastplate, and gird him with the skillfully woven girding band of the ephod.
Take the clothing and dress Aaron in the long coat, the clothing over the linen vest, the linen vest, and the breast-piece. Put on him the well-made belt of the linen vest.
6 A nd you shall put the turban or miter upon his head and put the holy crown upon the turban.
Put the covering on his head, and the holy crown on the head covering.
7 T hen take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him.
Then take the oil for holy use and pour it on his head to set him apart for My work.
8 A nd bring his sons and put long and sleeved tunics on them.
Bring his sons and dress them with long coats.
9 A nd you shall gird them with sashes or belts, Aaron and his sons, and bind caps on them; and the priest’s office shall be theirs by a perpetual statute. Thus you shall ordain and consecrate Aaron and his sons.
Put belts on Aaron and his sons. Tie head coverings on them. And they will be religious leaders by law for all time. So you will set apart Aaron and his sons for My work.
10 T hen bring the bull before the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands upon its head.
“Then bring the bull in front of the meeting tent. Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on the head of the bull.
11 A nd you shall kill the bull before the Lord by the door of the Tent of Meeting.
Then kill the bull before the Lord at the door of the meeting tent.
12 A nd you shall take of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and pour out all the blood at the base of the altar.
Take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger. Then pour out all the blood at the base of the altar.
13 A nd take all the fat that covers the entrails, and the appendage that is on the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, and burn them on the altar.
Take all the fat that covers the inside parts, and the part that is on the liver, and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and burn them on the altar.
14 B ut the flesh of the bull, its hide, and the contents of its entrails you shall burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.
But the flesh of the bull, its skin, and its waste you will burn away from the tents. It is a sin gift.
15 Y ou shall also take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands upon the head of the ram.
“Then take one of the rams and have Aaron and his sons lay their hands on the head of the ram.
16 A nd you shall kill the ram and you shall take its blood and throw it against the altar round about.
Kill the ram and take its blood and put it around the altar.
17 A nd you shall cut the ram in pieces and wash its entrails and legs and put them with its pieces and its head,
Cut the ram into pieces. Wash its inside parts and its legs. And put them with its pieces and its head.
18 A nd you shall burn the whole ram upon the altar. It is a burnt offering to the Lord; it is a sweet and satisfying fragrance, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
Burn the whole ram on the altar for a burnt gift in worship to the Lord. It is a pleasing smell, a gift by fire to the Lord.
19 A nd you shall take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands upon the head of the ram;
“Then take the other ram and have Aaron and his sons lay their hands on the ram’s head.
20 T hen you shall kill the ram and take part of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ears of Aaron and his sons and on the thumb of their right hands and on the great toe of their right feet, and dash the rest of the blood against the altar round about.
Kill the ram and put some of its blood on the bottom of Aaron’s right ear, on the bottom of his sons’ right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Put the rest of the blood around the altar.
21 T hen you shall take part of the blood that is on the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments; and he and his garments and his sons and their garments shall be sanctified and made holy.
Take some of the blood from the altar and some of the special oil. Put some on Aaron and his sons and their clothing. So Aaron and his clothing and his sons and their clothing will be set apart and made holy.
22 A lso you shall take the fat of the ram, the fat tail, the fat that covers the entrails, the appendage on the liver, the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and the right thigh; for it is a ram of consecration and ordination.
Take the fat from the ram, the fat tail, the fat that covers the inside parts, the part that is on the liver, the two kidneys with their fat, and the fat that is on the right thigh. For it is a ram used to set apart those who work for Me.
23 T ake also one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer out of the basket of the unleavened bread that is before the Lord.
And take one loaf of bread, and one loaf of bread mixed with oil, and one piece of hard bread from the basket of bread without yeast that is set before the Lord.
24 A nd put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and they shall wave them for a wave offering before the Lord.
Put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons. They will wave them for a wave gift before the Lord.
25 T hen you shall take them from their hands, add them to the burnt offering, and burn them on the altar for a sweet and satisfying fragrance before the Lord; it is an offering made by fire to the Lord.
Then take them from their hands and burn them on the altar for a burnt gift in worship. It is a pleasing smell before the Lord. It is a gift by fire to the Lord.
26 A nd take the breast of the ram of Aaron’s consecration and ordination and wave it for a wave offering before the Lord; and it shall be your portion.
“Take the breast of Aaron’s ram used to set him apart. Wave it as a wave gift before the Lord. And it will be your share.
27 A nd you shall sanctify (set apart for God) the waved breast of the ram used in the ordination and the waved thigh of the priests’ portion, since it is for Aaron and his sons.
Then set apart the breast of the wave gift and the thigh that was waved and given from the ram used to set apart those who work for Me. One was for Aaron and one for his sons.
28 I t shall be for Aaron and his sons as their due portion from the Israelites perpetually, an offering from the Israelites of their peace and thanksgiving sacrifices, their offering to the Lord.
It will be for Aaron and his sons as their share forever from the people of Israel. For it is the religious leaders’ share to be given by the people of Israel from their peace gifts. It is their gift to the Lord.
29 T he holy garments of Aaron shall pass to his descendants who succeed him, to be anointed in them and to be consecrated and ordained in them.
“The holy clothing of Aaron will be for his sons after him. They will wear them when the oil for holy use is poured on them and they are set apart for My work.
30 A nd that son who is priest in his stead shall put them on seven days when he comes into the Tent of Meeting to minister in the Holy Place.
The son who takes his place as religious leader will wear them seven days as he goes into the meeting tent to serve in the holy place.
31 Y ou shall take the ram of the consecration and ordination and boil its flesh in a holy and set-apart place.
“Take the ram used to set apart those who work for Me and boil its flesh in a holy place.
32 A aron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram and the bread in the basket, at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
Aaron and his sons will eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket, at the door of the meeting tent.
33 T hey shall eat those things with which atonement was made, to ordain and consecrate them; but a stranger (layman) shall not eat of them because they are holy (set apart to the worship of God).
They will eat those things that were used in worship when they were forgiven of their sin and when they were set apart for My work. But one who is not a religious leader may not eat them, because they are holy.
34 A nd if any of the flesh or bread for the ordination remains until morning, you shall burn it with fire; it shall not be eaten, because it is holy (set apart to the worship of God).
If any of the meat or bread used to set apart those who work for Me is left until morning, it must be burned. It must not be eaten, because it is holy.
35 T hus shall you do to Aaron and to his sons according to all I have commanded you; during seven days shall you ordain them.
“Do to Aaron and his sons all I have told you. For seven days you will set them apart for My work.
36 Y ou shall offer every day a bull as a sin offering for atonement. And you shall cleanse the altar by making atonement for it, and anoint it to consecrate it.
Give a bull each day for a sin gift, to take away sin. Make the altar clean by taking sin away from it and pour special oil on it to set it apart for Me.
37 S even days you shall make atonement for the altar and sanctify it; and the altar shall be most holy; whoever or whatever touches the altar must be holy (set apart for God’s service).
For seven days give gifts upon the altar to take away sin and set it apart for Me. Then the altar will be most holy. And whatever touches the altar will be holy. The Gifts Given Each Day
38 N ow this is what you shall offer on the altar: two lambs a year old shall be offered day by day continually.
“Now this is what you will give on the altar: Two lambs one year old, given every day.
39 O ne lamb you shall offer in the morning and the other lamb in the evening;
Give one lamb in the morning, and the other lamb in the evening.
40 A nd with the one lamb a tenth measure of fine flour mixed with a fourth of a hin of beaten oil, and a fourth of a hin of wine for a drink offering.
With the first lamb give a jar of fine flour mixed with a half jar of beaten oil, and a half jar of wine to be poured out.
41 A nd the other lamb you shall offer at evening, and do with it as with the cereal offering of the morning and with the drink offering, for a sweet and satisfying fragrance, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
Give the other lamb in the evening. Do it with a grain gift and a gift to pour out as in the morning. It has a pleasing smell, a gift by fire to the Lord.
42 T his shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the Tent of Meeting before the Lord, where I will meet with you to speak there to you.
For all time to come this burnt gift is to be given at the door of the meeting tent before the Lord. There I will meet with you and speak to you.
43 T here I will meet with the Israelites, and the Tent of Meeting shall be sanctified by My glory.
I will meet there with the people of Israel. It will be set apart by My shining-greatness.
44 A nd I will sanctify the Tent of Meeting and the altar; I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons to minister to Me in the priest’s office.
I will set apart the meeting tent and the altar. And I will set apart Aaron and his sons to work as religious leaders for Me.
45 A nd I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God.
I will live among the people of Israel and will be their God.
46 A nd they shall know that I am the Lord their God, Who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them; I am the Lord their God.
They will know that I am the Lord their God, Who brought them out of the land of Egypt to live among them. I am the Lord their God.
