1 I was inquired of by those who asked not; I was found by those who sought Me not. I said, Here I am, here I am to a nation that has not called on My name.
“I let Myself be looked for by those who did not ask for Me. I let Myself be found by those who did not look for Me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am,’ to a nation that did not call on My name.
2 I have spread out My hands all the day long to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts—
All day long I held out My hand to a people who would not obey Me and who worked against Me. They walk in a way that is not good, following their own thoughts.
3 A people who provoke Me to My face continually, sacrificing in gardens and burning incense upon bricks;
These people always make Me angry, giving gifts of worship in gardens and burning special perfume on altars of clay blocks.
4 W ho sit among the graves and lodge among the secret places; who eat swine’s flesh, and the broth of abominable and loathsome things is in their vessels;
They sit among graves, and spend the night in secret places. They eat the flesh of pigs, and have boiled meat that is unclean in their pots.
5 W ho say, Keep to yourself; do not come near me, for I am set apart from you! These are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all the day.
They say, ‘Keep to yourself. Do not come near me. For I am holier than you.’ These are smoke in My nose, a fire that burns all the day.
6 B ehold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silence but will repay; yes, I will repay into their bosom
See, it is written before Me: ‘I will not keep quiet, but I will pay them back. I will pay them back into their breast,
7 B oth your own iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers, says the Lord. Because they too burned incense upon the mountains and reviled and blasphemed Me upon the hills, therefore will I measure and stretch out their former doings into their own bosom.
for both their own sins and the sins of their fathers,’” says the Lord. “Because they have burned special perfume on the mountains and have spoken against Me on the hills, I will give them into their breasts the full pay for what they have done.”
8 T hus says the Lord: As the juice is found in the cluster, and one says, Do not destroy it, for there is a blessing in it, so will I do for My servants’ sake, that I may not destroy them all.
The Lord says, “New wine is found in the grapes, and one says, ‘Do not destroy them, for there is still some good in them.’ I will act in the same way for My servants, and not destroy them all.
9 A nd I will bring forth an offspring from Jacob, and from Judah an inheritor of My mountains; My chosen and elect will inherit it, and My servants will dwell there.
I will bring children from Jacob, and one out of Judah who will have My mountains for a gift. They will be given to My chosen ones, and My servants will live there.
10 A nd Sharon shall be a pasture and fold for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down, for My people who seek Me, inquire of Me, and require Me.
Sharon will become a field for flocks. And the valley of Achor will be a resting place for herds, for My people who look for Me.
11 B ut you who forsake the Lord, who forget and ignore My holy Mount, who prepare a table for Gad and who furnish mixed drinks for Meni —
But you who turn away from the Lord, who forget My holy mountain, who set a table for the false god, Gad, and who fill cups of mixed wine for the false female goddess, Meni,
12 I will destine you for the sword, and you shall all bow down to the slaughter, because when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not listen or obey. But you did what was evil in My eyes, and you chose that in which I did not delight.
I will have your future be the sword. All of you will bow down to be killed. Because when I called, you did not answer. I spoke, but you did not hear. You did what was sinful in My eyes, and chose what did not please Me.”
13 T herefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, My servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, My servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, My servants shall rejoice, but you shall be put to shame.
So the Lord God says, “See, My servants will eat, but you will be hungry. See, My servants will drink, but you will be thirsty. See, My servants will be glad, but you will be put to shame.
14 B ehold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry out for pain and sorrow of heart and shall wail and howl for anguish, vexation, and breaking of spirit.
See, My servants will call out for joy with a glad heart. But you will cry out with pain in your heart and with a broken spirit.
15 A nd you will leave your name to My chosen for a curse; and the Lord God will slay you, but He will call His servants by another name.
And you will leave your name as a curse for My chosen ones. The Lord God will kill you, but My servants will be called by another name.
16 S o that he who invokes a blessing on himself in the land shall do so by saying, May the God of truth and fidelity bless me; and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth and faithfulness to His promises, because the former troubles are forgotten and because they are hidden from My eyes.
Anyone who has good things come to him in the land will have good things come to him by the God of truth. And he who makes a promise in the land will promise by the God of truth. The troubles of the past are forgotten, and are hidden from My eyes. New Heavens and a New Earth
17 F or behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. And the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.
“For, see, I will make new heavens and a new earth. The past things will not be remembered or come to mind.
18 B ut be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a rejoicing and her people a joy.
But be glad and have joy forever in what I make. For see, I make Jerusalem for joy, and her people for happiness.
19 A nd I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people; and the sound of weeping will no more be heard in it, nor the cry of distress.
I will have joy in Jerusalem and be glad in My people. The voice of crying will no longer be heard in it, or the cry of trouble.
20 T here shall no more be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who dies prematurely; for the child shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner who dies when only a hundred years old shall be accursed.
No more will there be in it a child who lives only a few days, or an old man who does not live many years. For the child will live to be a hundred years old. And the one who does not live a hundred years will be thought to be cursed.
21 T hey shall build houses and inhabit them, and they shall plant vineyards and eat the fruit of them.
They will build houses and live in them. They will plant grapes and eat their fruit.
22 T hey shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat. For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, and My chosen and elect shall long make use of and enjoy the work of their hands.
They will not build a house and another live in it. They will not plant and another eat. For My people will live a long time, like the days of a tree. And for a long time My chosen ones will enjoy the work of their hands.
23 T hey shall not labor in vain or bring forth for sudden terror or calamity; for they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them.
They will not work for nothing, or give birth to children and have trouble. For they will be the children of those who receive good from the Lord, and their children with them.
24 A nd it shall be that before they call I will answer; and while they are yet speaking I will hear.
And it will be before they call, I will answer. While they are still speaking, I will hear.
25 T he wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all My holy Mount, says the Lord.
The wolf and the lamb will eat together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. And dust will be the snake’s food. They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain,” says the Lord.
